A minor was southbound on County Highway 22 in Buckhart Township. The driver stated a westbound vehicle on County

Highway 4 pulled out in front of her and almost stopped in the roadway. The driver then advised she steered left to avoid the other vehicle and left the roadway. The minor struck the Stonington Road Sign with the left side of the vehicle.  No injuries were reported. 

27 year old Amanda Vanostran was arrested on Wednesday on a bond forfeiture warrant for a 2019 driving on suspended license charge. Bond was set at $3,000.

The Taylorville Police Department responded to a vehicle accident on Tuesday afternoon. 18 year old Talia A. Moffett from Taylorville was waiting to turn left onto Northern Avenue from Sportsman Drive. Moffett failed to yield and struck the vehicle driven by 29 year old Taylor R. McManigell of Taylorville. No injuries were reported. 

23 year old Jack A.P. Fulk of Stonington was arrested for driving under the influence. 

35 year old Ashley N. Beaman of Audubon was arrested for theft of motor fuel, check fraud and possession of methamphetamine.

18 year old Eddie E. Cousins of Kincaid was arrested on Saturday on a driving on suspended license charge.  He was released on his own recognizance.

39 year old Leanna M. Grissom of Pana was arrested on Saturday on a bond forfeiture warrant from a 2016 DUI charge. Bond was set at $5,000.

51 year old Renee M. Cox of Kincaid was arrested on Friday on an original arrest warrant for a 2018 fraudulent practice charge. Bond was set at $7,500.

40 year old Jeffery L. Shanks of Kincaid was arrested on Saturday on an original arrest warrant for a 2019 theft labor/services charge. Bond was set at $2,500.

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office responded to a vehicle accident on Sunday evening. 18 year old Dayne E. Niehart of Pana stated to officers that he was becoming sick as he was driving north on Fairgrounds in Pana. He thought he was going to vomit as he was driving and attempted to pull over, leaving the roadway and driving over a street sign, causing damge to the front end and undercarriage of the vehicle.  He was able to drive away from the scene.

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office responded to a vehicle accident on Saturday afternoon 31 year old Ashlie D. Ledbetter of Stonington was traveling southbound on Illinois Route 48 3/10 of a mile south of Township Road 2300 N. The driver lost control and hydroplaned, spinning across the northbound lane and struck hte east side, north end guardrail with the rear, passenger side. The impact caused the vehicle to rotate in a clockwise direction into the east ditch. The vehicle received major damage on the passenger side. No injuries were reported.

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office responded to a vehicle accident on October 19th in the evening. 54 year old Dennis A. Lawyer of Taylorville and 46 year old Joshua M. Brown of Taylorville collided at the intersection of Illinois Route 29 and 1800 N Road. No injuries were reported.

The Taylorville Police Department responded to a vehicle accident on Tuesday evening. 49 year old Brad A. Cox of Taylorville entered Route Mart parking lot off of West Park Street. The driver stated he was answering a cell phone call from his medical doctor and was attempting to turn near the fuel pumps but struck the vehicle of 42 year old Gayle L. Miller of Palmer. Miller was parked in the parking lot. She stated she did not have time to move her vehicle. Both vehicles sustained damage. Cox admitted to operating an uninsured vehicle and using a cell phone while driving.

On Friday, TPD received a call for a one-vehicle/pedestrian traffic crash in the 500 block of North Cheney. A vehicle driven by 54 year old Paul D. Held of Taylorville was traveling northbound on Cheney Street, when a male pedestrian, 71 year old Danny E. Adams of Taylorville stepped into traffic off the sidewalk.  Held struck the male pedestrian who was attempting to walk eastbound across Cheney Street. Adams was transported to Springfield Memorial with serious injuries.

52 year old Charles D. Kile of Taylorville was arrested on Tuesday for no valid driver’s license.

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office responded to a vehicle crash on Thursday morning. 67-year-old Cynthia M. Jones of Moweaqua called to report hitting a deer on Lincoln Trial near Lakeside Drive. The incident was reported the next day. Jones was able to drive away from the accident. 

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office responded to a vehicle crash on Saturday evening. 34-year-old Nichol D. Vanus of Pana was headed southbound on County Highway #22 and ½ mile north of County Highway #21 struck a deer. No injuries were reported.

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office responded to a vehicle accident on the evening of October 10th. 25 year old April L. Griffith of Pana was headed west on 250N near 2584 E. The driver’s vision was obscured due to rain, and she lost control of her vehicle. The vehicle spun striking a tree and came to rest facing the opposite direction near a cornfield. The driver and passenger of the vehicle were transported to Pana Community Hospital with injuries.

The Christian County Sherrif’s office responded to a vehicle accident on Wednesday morning. A vehicle driven by 25 year old Dalton R. Bilyeu of Taylorville was headed northbound on 1450 East Road in Rural Taylorville and failed to negotiate a curve to the east at 1500 North striking the ditch embankment and coming to rest in the Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. A plaque was damaged along with some of the yard. No injuries were reported.

55 year old Quang T. Nguyen of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin was arrested on Monday on a bond forfeiture warrant from a 2017 charge for possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond was set at $5,000.

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office responded to a vehicle accident on Friday afternoon. 24 year old Tyler S. Durbin of Nokomis failed to yield at a stop sign at the intersection of Illinois Route 48 and CC Highway 1. The driver of the second car was driven by a minor from Missouri. The minor slowed down drastically but still hit Durbin’s vehicle. The minor stated that Durbin was on his cell phone.  When questioned by the Sheriff’s Office he did not deny being on his phone. Durbin was given multiple citations. Both vehicles were driven away with no injuries reported.

Taylorville Police Department responded to a vehicle accident on the 200 block of West Main Cross. 56 Stephen L. Debrun of Taylorville was headed East and had slowed because of traffic in front of him. A minor driving behind struck the rear of Debrun’s vehicle. No injuries were reported. The minor was given a citation.

A minor was riding north on the afternoon of September 24th on the sidewalk of Walnut and Main Cross.  A vehicle driven by 35 year old Jonathan G. Tarrant of Mount Auburn was exiting the alleyway. The minor struck the side of Tarrant’s vehicle. The minor sustained minor injuries, but the parents refused medical. Tarrant had minor damage to the vehicle.

33 year old Corey V. Pope of Bowling Green, Kentucky was arrested on Monday for unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance and possession of methamphetamine.

The Christian County Sheriff’s office responded to a vehicle accident on Tuesday morning. 64-year-old Pamela E. Kee of Taylorville was traveling north on McAdams Drive and attempted to make a left-handed turn onto east Esther Street. Kee took the corner too short and the vehicle left the roadway and became stuck on the main railroad track. A short time later a passing train struck the stranded vehicle. The occupants of the vehicle were able to exit the vehicle and avoid being injured. The vehicle received major damage, and the locomotive received minimal front end damage.

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office responded to a vehicle accident on Friday morning. 43 year old Lance D. Leisure of Decatur was northbound on Township Road 2700 E and swerved to avoid hitting a deer and went into the ditch. Leisure was taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office responded to a vehicle accident on Friday morning. 38 year old Sarah C. Van Huss of Mechanicsburg was traveling southbound on Township Road 1000 E and a quarter of a mile north of 2500 N struck a deer receiving front end damage.  No injuries were reported.

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office responded to a vehicle accident on Wednesday morning. A vehicle driven by 58 year old Debra J. Basil of Kincaid was traveling eastbound on Illinois Route 104 and was approaching an intersecting north “T” road, Township Road 1025 E.  Basil informed first responders she swerved to miss a deer. Basil veered across the westbound lane of Route 104 and entered the northeast corner of the intersection, striking a utility pole with a guy wire.  The pole was snapped off and Basil proceeded a short distance before her car came to rest in the ditch facing northeast. Basil’s vehicle received major damage and Basil was transported to Taylorville Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries.

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office responded to a vehicle accident on the morning of September 27th. 39 year old Nathan A. Grigg of Taylorville, was backing up to collect trash and did not see the parked vehicle in the driveway. Grigg struck the rear of the parked vehicle and pushed the car 5 feet backwards from where it was parked. 

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office responded to a vehicle accident on the evening of September 21st. 25 year old Austin L. Burchi of Kincaid was traveling east on Route 104 and attempted to turn right onto 980 East Road. Burchi lost control of his motorcycle and wrecked. He was transported to St. John’s hospital for his injuries.

39 year old Andrew C. Whitehead of Mount Auburn reported that he struck a deer in the area of 2750 North and 1600 East.

30 year old Nathaniel L. White of Edinburg reported that he struck a deer somewhere outside of Edinburg.

The Taylorville Police Department responded to a vehicle accident on the morning of September 28th. 37 year old Adam D. Bolte of Springfield was stopped in traffic on the 500 block of Cheney Street in Taylorville, waiting for another vehicle to turn when a car driven by a minor from Taylorville struck the rear end. No injuries were reported and the minor was given a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

The Taylorville Police Department responded to a vehicle accident on Main Street and Main Cross Street on the evening of September 27th. A vehicle driven by 32 year old Aaron L. Whitaker of Taylorville was parked westbound when he proceeded to enter the roadway and travel westbound. However, his vehicle didn’t have enough clearance and struck the rear end of the parked vehicle. Whitaker proceeded to leave the scene and was located later on.  No injuries were reported and Whitaker was given a citation for failure to give information after striking an unattended vehicle.

The Taylorville Police Department responded to a vehicle accident on Friday afternoon at the Wal-Mart Parking Lot. A vehicle driven by 66 year old Lawrence J. Fleigle of Morrisonville backed up and hit a vehicle driven by 45 year old Christopher A. Edwards. No injuries were reported.

43 year old Scott D. Shull of Taylorville was arrested on Monday for 2 counts of aggravated assault, domestic battery, criminal damage to real property over $500, obstructing/resisting a peace officer, and 2 counts of attempt (aggravated battery to a peace officer). 

35 year old Justin M. Cammarano of Decatur was arrested on Tuesday an original arrest warrant from a 2019 charge of driving on suspended/revoked license. Bond was set at $3,500.

47 year old Deborah S. Pfeffer of Pana was arrested on Tuesday for an original arrest warrant from a 2019 charge for forgery.  Bond was set at $5,000.

27 year old Jake E. Tucker of Taylorville was arrested on Monday for possession of methamphetamine.

19 year old Jacob W. Catalano of Springfield was arrested on Monday on a bond forfeiture warrant for a 2019 charge of fleeing police.  Bond was set at $6,000.

23 year old Anthony D. Benavides of Taylorville was arrested on Monday for battery and resisting/obstructing a peace officer.

49 year old Randall C. Smith of Taylorville was arrested on Monday a Christian County Warrant.

27 year old Jake E. Tucker of Taylorville was arrested on Monday for possession of methamphetamine and a warrant.

43 year old Scott D. Shull of Taylorville was arrested for domestic battery (2 counts), aggravated assault, criminal damage to real property (over $500.00), obstructing/resisting a peace officer, and (2 counts) attempt (aggravated battery to a peace officer).

21 year old Jordan K. Weller was arrested on September 27th for a Coles County Warrant. 

25 year old Tilur M. Miller of Taylorville was arrested on Sunday for public intox and criminal damage to property.

53 year old Julie K. Whitehead of Taylorville was arrested on September 26th for domestic battery.
