Timothy J. Everlen, age 23, of Stonington Illinois, was arrested on a Warrant.

A Juvenile Male, age 14, of Taylorville was arrested for Criminal Damage to Property.

A crash happened around 2:03 p.m. on February 19th near the intersection of E. Park St. and McAdams Dr. The incident involved a minor driving a pick up truck, and a 2019 Chevrolet utility vehicle (Unit 2), driven by Morgan N. Wilbur of Pana. Authorities reported that Wilbur was traveling eastbound on E. Park St. and had slowed to make a right turn into a parking lot when the minor failed to reduce speed in time, rear-ending the vehicle. Both vehicles sustained minor damage, and no injuries were reported. 

A hit-and-run incident occurred on February 21, 2025, at approximately 7:33 a.m. The crash occurred at 324 N. Webster St. According to the report, Unit 1 backed out of a parking spot and struck Unit 2, a 2015 Chevrolet Malibu, while the driver of Unit 2, was sitting inside. The driver of Unit 2 briefly left the scene to retrieve a jacket from a nearby building, and upon returning, discovered that Unit 1 had left the area without providing information. No injuries were reported, and the damage to both vehicles was minor.

2/19/25 at 4:55 a.m.

Unit 1 (Joseph Levier, 28, of Mt. Auburn) and Unit 2 (Hubert Smith, 29, of Mt. Auburn)

Unit 1 was traveling south on 1400 East RD and Unit 2 was traveling east on 2850 North RD. While attempting to cross the intersection Unit 1 not seeing Unit 2 pulled out in front of Unit 2. Unit 2 hit the passenger doors of Unit 1 with his passengers side bumper and fender. Unit 2 was towed from the scene by Taylorville Towing.

2/20/25 at 6:20 p.m.

Betty Stephens, 88, of Morrisonville was traveling north on 400 East RD when she went to make a right hand turn. The driver misjudged the turn turning to soon and nosed her car into the ditch. The vehicle was towed from the scene by Kertow’s Towing.

2/21/25 at 12:40 p.m.

Jonathan Early, 31, of Decatur was traveling east on RTE 16 just before 1800 East RD when the driver lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle crossed over the other lane of traffic and went into the ditch. The vehicle then crossed over 1800 East RD and continued until it hit a Union Pacific Railroad signal. Both the railroad signal and the vehicle had major damage; the vehicle was towed from the scene by Morrell Auto Service.

Unit 1 (Jessica Lee, 37, of Decatur) and Unit 2 (Robert Paul, 45, of Decatur)

Unit 1 was traveling southbound on S. Shumway ST and had stopped at the stop sign, with intersection IL RTE 48. Unit 2 was traveling westbound on IL RTE 48, approaching the intersection with S. Shumway ST/Township Road 1250 E. The driver of Unit 1 stated she did not see any oncoming traffic and proceeded into the intersection, turning left (east) on IL RTE 48. Unit 2, also proceeding into the intersection, could not stop in time to avoid striking Unit 1.

2/22/25 at 7:00 a.m.

Russell Mindrup, 95, of Taylorville was traveling north through the intersection IL RTE 48 and 1230 East RD and entered the oncoming lane of traffic and struck a stop sign located in the median. The vehicle then continued driving north on Shumway ST and the vehicle was later located at Hickory Estates in Taylorville.

2/23/25 at 11:42 p.m.

Samantha Blaney, 21, of Taylorville was traveling northbound on 1600 East RD at 1300 North RD when a deer entered the roadway from the west and was struck by vehicle inside the correct lane of traffic. The vehicle sustained cosmetic damage to front and passenger sides and was driven from the scene.

Michael Beaty, 43, of Nokomis was traveling northbound on 1250 East RD at 795 North RD when the driver lost control of the vehicle and left the roadway. The vehicle came to rest in the ditch on the eastside of the road.

2/14/25 at 7:24 p.m.

Debrohah Jett, 58, of Taylorville was traveling south on Houston ST. near Sangamon RD when the driver was having vehicle trouble that caused the headlights stop working. The driver made a left hand turn onto what they thought was West Finch ST but made a left hand turn onto the railroad tracks. They hit the railroad tracks with the front end of their vehicle and came to a rest. The vehicle had disabling damage and was towed from the scene by Taylorville Towing.

2/15/25 at 4:24 a.m.

Brody Declerck, 21, of Taylorville was traveling northbound on IL RT 29 at 2010 North RD when it lost control. The vehicle left the roadway and came to a stop in a ditch on the eastside of the road. The vehicle was removed from the ditch by Taylorville Towing.

Robert Moore, 56, of Morrisonville was traveling west on 350 North RD and struck a deer.

Gordon Centeno, 19, of Nokomis was traveling northbound on 1250 E RD at 1000 N RD when road conditions were icy and the vehicle slid across both lanes of traffic and came to a rest in the west ditch. Multiple airbags deployed but the driver stated he was uninjured and was able to drive the vehicle from the scene.

2/16/25 at 12:05 a.m.

Spencer Curtin, 27, of Taylorville was traveling south on RTE 48 and lost control of the vehicle and skid off of the roadway and overturned in the ditch. Kertow’s Towing was able to turn the vehicle back on its wheels and was driven away from the scene.

Mallory Lawyer, 36, of Owaneco was traveling North on 1800 East RD at 1635 North RD when it hit a patch of ice in the roadway. The driver lost control and began skidding to the eastside of the roadway and struck the ditch embankment at 1800 East RD and 1640 North RD. The vehicle continued traveling in the ditch until it struck a cluster of small trees. The vehicle was towed from the scene by Taylorville Towing.

2/12/25 at 7:17 p.m.

Walter Homeier, 51, of Edinburg was traveling West on 1900 North RD when he lost control of his truck due to snow and slush on the road. The vehicle went into a skid, then rolled over hitting a ditch and coming to a stop with the truck no longer on its wheels resting on the driver side door. The vehicle was towed from the scene by Kertow’s Towing.

The driver was unable to negotiate the curve and left the roadway to the right, striking a ditch embankment. The vehicle continued through the ditch and became stuck in a field to the right of the roadway.

Bryce Barton, 24, was traveling East on 1800 North RD when a deer entered the roadway. The driver was unable to avoid the deer and struck it. The vehicle had damage to the front and was driven from the scene.
