Area Arrests And Accidents 06/24/24

The Christian County Sheriff's Office reported the following to Regional Radio News;

 

6/19/24

 

A minor from Moweaqua was traveling West on County 4 around 2450 East a deer ran into the roadway. The vehicle hit the deer causing damage to the front of her vehicle.

 

6/21/24

 

Innocent Nzabarantuma, 26, of Louisville, KY was traveling Northbound on IL Route 29; Derek Dye, 41, of Stonington was also traveling Northbound on IL Route 29. Innocent Nzabarantuma vehicle overtook Derek Dye’s vehicle and hit the rear drivers side of Derek Dye’s vehicle. Both vehicles came to a stop in the median of IL Route 29; no injuries were reported.

 

6/23/24

 

A minor from Decatur was traveling South on 2625 East Road. The driver lost control of the vehicle and began skidding. The vehicle came to a stop in the ditch/corn field on the Eastside of the road.

6/21/24


A Juvenile Male, age 17, of Stonington Illinois, was arrested for Reckless Driving.


6/22/24

 

Aaron C. Davis, age 48, of Kincaid Illinois, was arrested for Criminal Trespass. 

 

Ann L. Stafford, age 54 of Taylorville was arrested for Criminal Trespass and Retail Theft. 

 

Cortney M. Reynolds, age 33, of Taylorville was arrested for Criminal Damage to Property.

 

Taylorville Police investigated the following crashes: 

On June 14th at 9:18 PM, Kayden Mashburn of Taylorville and Mark Mcinerney of Bald Knob, Arkansas were traveling northbound on McAdam Drive.  Mcinerney turned right onto Lindenwood Drive.  Mashburn's front end struck Mcinerney's rear end and Mcinerney went off the roadway striking the fence of Deborah Krotz.  Mashburn was able to drive away from the scene but Mcinerney was towed from the scene. 

 

On June 19th at 6:59 PM, A minor from Taylorville was traveling northbound on Lawrence Ave. approaching a stop sign.  Breanna K. Kromm of Taylorville was traveling eastbound on Northern Ave.  The minor failed to stop before the stop sign, striking Kromm's rear passenger wheel and fender. 

 

On June 20th at 5:29 PM, Broderick A. Whitaker of Taylorville backed from a parking spot, striking a parked car.  Whitaker reportedly left the scene without notifying the owner. Police eventually made contact with Whitaker.

6/12/24

 

Mikell Shoffner of Taylorville was traveling Northbound on 930 East Road when it left the roadway and struck a culvert and a mailbox. He continued Northbound across the driveway and struck a sign in the yard before coming to a stop. Mikell Shoffner had no apparent injuries and refused medical treatment by Taylorville Fire and Dunns Ambulance.

 

6/13/24

Logan Smith, 16, of Taylorville was traveling North, approaching the intersection of 00 North and 100 East. He failed to negotiate a jog in the intersection causing him to cross over 00 North and leave the roadway and strike a large ditch embankment. He then came to a rest on its passenger side at the bottom of the ditch.

 

6/14/24

Heather Buttry, 27, of Rochester stated she was traveling West on 2850 North Road near 1345 East when she struck a deer that entered the roadway.

 

6/13/24

Talone L. Nave, age 27, of Edinburg Illinois was arrested for Retail Theft.

 

Katelyn L. Paine, age 36, of Taylorville, was arrested for Disorderly Conduct.

 

6/14/24

Jared A. Rice, age 44, of Springfield Illinois was arrested for Retail Theft and Burglary.

The Christian County Sheriff's Office reported the following to Regional Radio News:

6/07/24

Ruby Butkauskas, 82, of Pana was traveling Southbound on 2350 E RD near 200 N RD and attempted to make a right turn onto 200 N RD; left the roadway and struck a stop sign. Her vehicle continued traveling Westbound through front yards of two residences on the Southside of 200 N RD. James Allen, 36, of Pana was traveling Eastbound on 200 N RD and attempted to make a right turn into his driveway. He witnessed the entire incident and stated he was stationary at the end of his driveway when Ruby Butkauskas drove through his yard and the two vehicles collided in the driveway. Ruby Butkauskas fled the scene and turned Southbound on Seneca Trail to her residence.

 

6/12/24

Sierra Miller, 22, of Stonington, was traveling East near 659 E 1800 North RD, when a deer entered the roadway and ran into the front passenger side of her vehicle.

A Juvenile Male, age 16, of Taylorville, was arrested for Burglary.


A Juvenile Male, age 16, of Taylorville, was arrested for Burglary.


Ava E Watson, age 18, of Taylorville, was arrested for Illegal Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor.


6/07/24


Juvenile Female, age 17, of Owaneco Illinois was arrested for Illegal Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor.


Louquaris J. Sullivan, age 21, of Taylorville was arrested for Aggravated Battery. 


Shelby L. Roles, age 32, of Forsyth Illinois, was arrested for DUI.


Payton D. Farris, age 21, of Taylorville was arrested for Fighting and Public Intoxication.


Nathaniel D. Johnson, age 22, of Taylorville was arrested for Fighting and Public Intoxication.


6/09/24


Alexander Gauger, age 36, of Springfield Illinois, was arrested on a Warrant.


A Juvenile Male, age 16, of Taylorville, was arrested for Unlawful use of a Weapon and Mob Action.

Area Arrests And Accidents 6-10-24

The Christian County Sheriff's Office reported the following to Regional Radio News:

 

 

6/4/24

Nicholas Debrun, 14, of Morrisonville was traveling west on Christian County Highway 10 in a homemade go-cart approximately .1 mile west of Morrisonville. Nicholas lost control of the go-cart and skidded sideways into the opposite lane. Nicole Schmedeke, 32, of Morrisonville was driving a Ford Edge and traveling east and collided with Nicholas Debrun’s go-cart when it entered into Nicole Schmedeke’s lane. The collision caused Nicholas Debrun and the go-cart to be thrown into a ditch on the south side of the road.

 

6/7/24

Chastity Garrison, 35, of Nokomis was traveling south on 1250 East RD when a deer entered the roadway. Her vehicle was struck by a deer on its drivers side and had minor damage to its drivers side door/front fender area. No injuries were reported and the vehicle was driven from the scene.

 

6/6/24

Jordin Hill, 16, of Edinburg was traveling East on 2150 North RD when the driver hit a spot in the road with loose gravel. Jordin Hill was unable to control his vehicle and went into a sideways slide and left the roadway and hit the ditch on the Southside of the road. Once the vehicle hit the ditch it flipped over on its side for a short distance before coming to rest on its wheels.

 

 

 

Area Arrests And Accidents 06/04/24

The Christian County Sheriff's Office reported the following to Regional Radio News;

5/26/24

 

Montgomery Weddle, 20, of Pana was traveling South on 1600 East Road towards Illinois Route 29 when Kelsey Rahar, 19, of Pana vehicle’s struck the rear of Montgomery Weddle’s vehicle multiple times. 

 

5/28/24

 

Pamela Williams, 60, of Kincaid was traveling East on IL RTE 104 when a deer at the location of 794 East crossed in front of the vehicle. The deer struck the front divers side of the vehicle.

 

5/29/24

 

Jennifer Law, 46, of Mount Auburn was traveling West on County Highway 2, when Michael Fisher, 29, of Edinburg was traveling East on County Highway 2. Jennifer Law stated she lost control of the vehicle and traveled into the Eastbound lane of traffic. Michael Fisher stated he turned his vehicle to the left just before Law’s vehicle crashed into him, Law’s vehicle hit Fisher’s vehicle head on. Fisher’s vehicle came to a stop in the ditch on the North Side of the road. Law’s vehicle came to a stop partially in the ditch and roadway on the South Side of the roadway. Jennifer Law was issued three traffic citations.

 

5/30/24

 

Brooke Elder, 17, of Stonington was traveling on US RT 51 Northbound in the right lane. A deer entered the roadway from the grass median and Brooke Elder struck the deer in her lane of traffic. Brooke Elder stated she was uninjured and her vehicle was towed from the scene.

 

6/1/24

 

Kurtis Oberby, 19, of Assumption was traveling West on 1300 N RD when he failed to stop at the stop sign at 2300 East RD. The vehicle continued through the intersection colliding with a ditch on the West Side of 2300 East RD. The vehicle sustained damage to its front end and was towed from the scene by Kertow’s Towing. No injuries were reported.

 

 

5/31/24

Myles Clayton, 18, of Taylorville was traveling Southbound on 2225E RD near 2000N RD when a deer entered the roadway and was struck by Myles Clayton’s vehicle.
