6-23-23 Randy Bess, age 65, of Ridgeway was arrested by CCSO on a FTA warrant for driving on suspended license.

Crashes

6-22-23 Makaylynn Eakle was traveling south on IL Route 29 on 800 North Road when a deer entered the roadway. Eakle was unable to avoid hitting the deer. The vehicle was driven from the scene. No injuries.

6-22-23 Amanda Carnahan was heading southbound on County Highway 22 when she lost control of the vehicle and left the roadway. Carnahan struck a curve alignment marker with her driver mirror. Carnahan then entered the ditch on the west side of County Highway 22 impacting on the front passenger door. No injuries. No tow.

6-24-23 Tim Coonrod and William Hughes were involved in a traffic crash in Taylorville township. Coonrod was traveling South on 1350 East road at the bridge south of IL Route 48. Coonrods driver stated his soda fell in his vehicle which caused him to hit Hughes mirror when he went to pick it up. Hughes was traveling North on the bridge and stated Coonrod was swerving all over the roadway. Hughes driver stated he tried to avoid Coonrod by steering Hughes to the far right side of the bridge. Coonrod struck Hughes driver’s side mirror with his driver’s side mirror. Both Units sustained damage to their driver’s side mirrors. No injuries were reported. Coonrod was towed from the

scene.

6-25-23 Ywyla, Durrah was traveling southwest on IL Route 48 when a deer ran into the roadway and struck the left fender of the vehicle. No injuries. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

6-25-23 Christiana Wiseman was traveling on 900 North Road in Johnson township when she hit a deer in the roadway. No injuries. No tow.

6-21-23 Nicloe Patrick was traveling north on 1250 East Road when a deer ran out in the roadway hitting the vehicle on the driver’s side door area.

Michael E. Durbin, age 57, of Taylorville was arrested for Possession of a Stolen Firearm and Vehicle Burglary.

TPD investigated the following vehicle crashes: 

On June 14th at 2:23 PM Martha Copeland of Taylorville was traveling east on West Springfield Road coming into Taylorville.  Once Copeland passed the intersection of Route 104 and West Springfield Road, the traffic flow began to slow down and as Copeland slowed down near Spring Garden at 1220 West Springfield Road, Bethanie Cvengros of Tower Hill crashed into the rear end of Cvengros.  Both units pulled off the roadway due to damage.  Cvengros was issued three citations for no valid insurance, expired registration, and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.  

On June 19th at 12:38 PM Casey Conaway of Taylorville was traveling East on Esther Street.  Conaway came to the intersection of North Shawnee Street, They did not make a complete stop and told police they were distracted by lighting a cigarette and did not see Samantha J. Harp of Taylorville come through the intersection.  Conaway hit Harp and reported damage.  Conaway received three citations for no valid insurance, suspended registration, and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. 

On June 19th at 2:16 PM Janet Duecker of Taylorville began to back out of a parking spot at the Taylorville Square near the 100 block of West Main Cross when Duecker came in contact with Lisa Sassatelli of Taylorville.  No citations were issued.

5-4-23 Alexis Talkington was driving northwest on 2700 North Road as about 625 East in Mt. Auburn township when a deer into the roadway. Talkington was unable to avoid hitting the deer and came to the Sheriff’s office to make a report. No injuries. No tow.

5-30-23 Taylor Hunt was going west on 1250 N. Road when a deer ran into the roadway. Hunt was unable to avoid hitting the deer. The vehicle was towed from the scene. No injuries.

6-6-23 Alisa Whitchurch was traveling east on Langleyville Road near the intersection with Broaddus Road when a deer jumped out into the side of the vehicle. The driver was able to drive the vehicle from the scene. No injuries.
