26 year old Caleb L. Dean of Pana was arrested Monday for an issuance of warrant with bond set at $5,000.

Accidents:

54 year old Walter D. Harker of Taylorville was on a bike heading north on the sidewalk on the east side of Washington St. 34 year old Shalana A. Assad of Taylorville was backing out of her driveway right as Harker passed behind her, and struck Harker. No injuries were reported, and Assad took Harker to the store to get him a new bike.

17 year old Lauren D. Crews of Forsyth was traveling east on Franklin St. and drove around a mail truck sitting along the road. When Crews came back into her lane, she struck the rear end of another vehicle. No injuries were reported.

Accidents:

28 year old David B. Crouch of Taylorville was southbound on Township Road 1000 East. 30 year old Daniel R. Otto of Kincaid was heading eastbound on Township Road 1800 North. Crouch failed to yield at the intersection of the two roads, and struck Otto’s vehicle. Otto then continued struck a fence on the southeast corner of the intersection. No injuries were reported.

21 year old Dalton D. Jackson of Springfield was traveling southbound on Route 29. Jackson lost control of the vehicle and skidded off the roadway to the right, eventually coming to a stop in the ditch. Jackson said he lost control of the steering, and that’s what caused him to skid off the road. No injuries were reported.

57 year old Joseph Lomprez, of Taylorville, was arrested for driving with a suspended license. 

ACCIDENTS:

A two-vehicle crash occurred in Taylorville yesterday. 27 year old Mallory L. Remmert, of Taylorville was stopped at E. Park St. and Paw Paw to make a left turn into the driveway of an apartment building on the North side of the roadway. Remmert said she had her turn signal on and waited for at least 6 cars to pass before 42 year old Darrick B. Fleming of Taylorville, who was on E. Park St. approaching Paw Paw, said he did not see Remmert in time and struck the back end of her vehicle. A juvenile female that was in the back seat of Remmert’s vehicle was taken to Taylorville Memorial Hospital by ambulance. Fleming was issued a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

A single vehicle accident occurred Thursday night when 48 year old Allen G. Guthals was traveling East bound on 500 N. Rd and at approximately 550 E. Rd a deer came into the roadway. The front end of Guthels’ vehicle struck the deer. Guthels’ vehicle was damaged and had to be towed from the scene.

ACCIDENTS:

40 year old Mary M. Farmer of Taylorville was traveling northbound on Illinois Route 29, and stated a deer ran into the roadway and she could not stop in time before hitting it. Farmer struck the deer causing major damage to the front end of her vehicle.

89 year old John E. Forbes of Taylorville was exiting Angelo’s parking lot, while 18 year old Wyatt E. Morman of Edinburg was exiting the Circle K parking lot. Morman stated he had exited the parking lot and began to travel westbound on Spresser St. and was struck by Forbes. Forbes and Morman exchanged information immediately after the crash. Forbe’s vehicle sustained front end damage and Morman’s vehicle sustained driver side damage. No injuries were reported.

ACCIDENTS:

On January 19th 43 year old Dennis R. Foli of Kincaid was traveling north on County Road 800 East, and stated that he got over too far while passing an oncoming car. Foli said he lost control of the vehicle after entering the ditch off the roadway to the right. Foli traveled into the ditch at approximately 2025 N and struck a utility pole. Foli’s vehicle overturned and came to a stop on it’s roof about 100 feet to the north after striking the pole. Foli was observed for by fire and medical on scene and refused treatment, and reported no injuries.

ACCIDENTS:

On January 11th 32 year old Andrea K. Lybarger of Taylorville was traveling southeast on IL Rt. 29. Lybarger stated that a red semi truck pulled out in front of them. Lybarger said she turned the vehicle left crossing the northbound lane and went into the ditch. Lybarger’s vehicle was occupied by Lybarger, who was transported to Taylorville Memorial Hospital, and a passenger who refused medical treatment on the scene.

32 year old Kinsley C. Nwoko of Decatur was heading north on Route 51. At around 420 North, Nwoko lost all power to the vehicle. Nwoko’s vehicle was stopped in the middle of the roadway with no power or lights, and Nwoko exited the vehicle to attempt to warn 53 year old Randy W. Schoonover of Herrick. Schoonover was not able to stop once he saw the vehicle in the roadway, and hit U1 causing major damage to both vehicles.

ACCIDENTS:

On January 10th at about 6:19 am, 29 year old Christina N. Olivio of Pana was southbound on IL Route 29. 34 year old Justin D. Short of Beecher City, and 20 year old Braden P. Bumgardner of Pana were both northbound on IL Route 29. Just south of Township Road 1100 North in Locust Township, Olivio drove into the northbound lane striking the driver’s side of Short and Bumgardner’s vehicles. Olivio and Bumgardner were transported to Taylorville Memorial Hospital to be treated for injuries sustained in the crash. Olivio was later released and arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.

On January 5th 29 year old Christina N. Olivio of Pana was traveling northwest on IL Rt. 29. At about 500 N., Olivio lost control of the vehicle due to snow on the roadway and went off the roadway to the left. Olivio’s vehicle went on the bike path about 50 yards away from the roadway where it went on it’s side. Olivio’s vehicle had damage to the driver's side of the vehicle. No injuries were reported.

19 year old Rachel D. McCall of Nokomis was south on County 1. Around 720 North a deer ran into the roadway. McCall hit the deer causing damage to the vehicle. No injuries were reported.

21 year old David Garren of Thayer was arrested on Monday for driving without a valid licence.

22 year old Taylor Desart of Taylorville was arrested on Monday for possession of drug paraphernalia.

45 year old Patrick T. McCaughn of Taylorville was arrested for driving with a suspended license.

21 year old Sierra M. Durbin of Taylorville was arrested on Monday for retail theft with bond set at $5000.

ACCIDENTS:

On January 8th at about 2:21 am the Taylorville Police Department responded to a single vehicle accident on South Spresser St. at Lincoln Land Community College. The driver, 30 year old Matthew T. Norris of Taylorville was traveling south on Spresser when he lost control of his vehicle. He left the roadway and ultimately crashed into the south building of Lincoln Land Community College, causing structural damage to the building. Norris was extricated from the vehicle and was transported to St. Johns Hospital in Springfield to be treated for injuries. The crash remains under investigation at this time.

On January 9th officers responded to a 3 vehicle accident on Rt. 29 just north of Sunset Ave. Officers arrived and were approached by a witness that stated that 67 year old Irma D. Shuff of Tower Hill was only traveling approximately 25 mph. The witness said she passed Shuff and 20 year old Ivan R. Fry of Pana must not have seen Shuff traveling slowly and struck the rear of Shuff’s vehicle. The witness said Shuff was forced into the northbound lane striking 67 year old Linda D. Tuchmann of Virginia, IL. All three ended up in the ditches on both sides of the road. Tuchmann was transported to TMH to be checked out. Shuff and Fry both refused medical treatment.

ACCIDENTS:

On January 7th 43 year old Staci L. Curtis of Divernon was traveling North on Route 104 and was stopped at the intersection of Route 104 and Route 29. 29 year old Christopher J. Wessling of Taylorville was behind Curtis. Wessling thought that Curtis was proceeding, but Curtis had stopped. Wessling struck Curtis causing damage. Both vehicles were able to drive from the scene.

17 year old Scott R. Hunter of Taylorville was heading east on Adams St. Hunter lost control on the 1000 block of W. Adams St, and hit a power pole on the south side of the street. Hunter tried to get the car home with major front end damage. A witness saw the accident happen and called the police. Hunter was spotted in the 200 block of W. Adams St. and stopped. Hunter issued citations for failure to report accident to police authority, and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. No injuries were reported.

44 year old Cindy K. Delacruz of Taylorville and 45 year old Darrell L. Hemphill of Pawnee were both heading west on Spresser St. Both went through the intersection with Cheney. Hemphill slowed down to a near stop because a vehicle in front of him was turning right into Caseys. When Hemphill slowed down, Delacruz could not get slowed down in time and hit the rear of Hemphill. A witness vehicle was behind both units and stated that it was like Delacruz didn’t even try to stop. Delacruz stated she had a headache and refused medical treatment. Hemphill did not report any injuries and drove away with a broken reverse light.

On January 5th officers were dispatched to West Main Cross at Madison for a two vehicle traffic accident. 34 year old Lacy D. Edwards of New Berlin said she tried to slow on the snow covered road, but slid through the sign striking 70 year old Ruth Ann Wilson of Taylorville. Wilson believed that Edwards was traveling too quickly. Wilson sustained rear wheel damage and rear bumper damage. Edwards had minor front end damage. No injuries were reported

ACCIDENTS:

70 year old Martha J. Wayne of Taylorville stated that they were northbound on County Highway 1 about 3-5 minutes south of town when a deer ran into the roadway. Wayne was able to slow down, but was not able to avoid the deer. The deer struck Wayne in the front causing minor damage.

46 year old Rhonda Beard of Owaneco was northbound on Il Rt 29. 34 year old Cody S. Brandley of Pana was also northbound on Il Rt 29 approaching Beard from the rear. Bandley advised he took his eyes off the road for a moment then struck the back end of Beard’s vehicle. No injuries were reported.
