The Christian County Sheriff's Office reported the following to Regional Radio News;

Crashes

4-23-23 Unit 1 was traveling south on 2500 East road. Unit 1 driver failed to reduce speed approaching the intersection. Unit 1 struck the ditch and came to a stop in the field. Driver of Unit 1 is unknown. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

4-24-23 Carly Hagan was traveling north on County Highway 5 at approximately 1925 N when she struck a deer. The vehicle was driven from the scene. No injuries.

4-24-23 Clayton Woolard was traveling south on U.S. Route 51 approaching the intersection with 100 North Road. A witness vehicle was attempting to turn left (east) onto 100 North Road from the southbound lane. Witness vehicle had come to a stop, with left turn signal on, waiting for oncoming traffic to pass before left turn could be made. Woolard was following turning witness vehicle and was unable to stop in time. Woolard swerved to the right (west) to avoid hitting witness vehicle and continued across 100 North Road and struck a ditch embankment and small trees. Woolard refused medical but was transported to hospital by family. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

4-28-23 Robert W. Oliver, age 46 of Taylorville was arrested by Decatur PD on a Christian County FTA warrant for VIOLATE SEX OFFENDER REGIS.

3-31-23 Tylour Howard, age 32 of Springfield was arrested by CCSO for aggravated robbery.

Accidents

4-14-23 Gabriel Shultz was traveling East on 950 N RD at 1860 East when the driver stated he lost control of the vehicle. Tire tracks on scene indicate the vehicle was half on the roadway and half in the North ditch for a short distance. Shultz was found facing East stuck in the North ditch unoccupied. The vehicle was towed from the scene and had damage to its driver’s side door. Shultz went to the hospital for injuries sustained in the crash.

Tammy J. Day, age 56, of Taylorville was arrested for Driving While registration Suspended.

A Juvenile Female, age 14, of Taylorville was arrested for Battery.

The Taylorville police investigated the following vehicle crashes:

On March 29th, at 12:38 PM, Macey Smith of Taylorville, Clara Glover of Taylorville, and Ronald Warren of Taylorville were all eastbound on Park Street towards Cherokee. Glover and Warren were slowed/stopped in traffic as they approached the Cherokee Street Light.  Smith failed to reduce speed striking Glover who struck Warren.  No injuries were reported and Smith received a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

On March 31st, 2023 Bobbi Ward of Kincaid says that she was in a hurry on the Taylorville Square and did not see that Gage Rusher of Stonington completed his backing from the stall and both vehicles collided.  Ward was issued a citation. 

On April 6th, at 6:33 PM, A vehicle owned by Michael Goldon was legally parked when Greg Johnson of Taylorville backed out of an adjacent parking lot striking Golden's vehicle in the front.  Goldon's vehicle sustained some damage to its rear bumper.  No injuries were reported. 

Kaylee Jones of Taylorville was parked in front of 504 South Main Street facing north, on the right hand side.  Sometime between 6 AM and 4 PM, an unknown vehicle sideswiped Jones' vehicle.  There was some damage but no one was injured.

4-11-23 Dallas West, age 30, of Assumption was arrested by CCSO on a FTA warrant  for driving on suspended license.

Crashes

4-5-23 Tim Nohren was traveling West on Illinois Route 16 when a deer entered the roadway. Nohren was unable to avoid the deer. Nohren struck the deer and sustained damage to the vehicle’s front end. The vehicle was driven from the scene. No injuries were reported.

4-7-23 A minor and John Mann were involved in a traffic crash in Edinburg. A 2013 club car golf cart was occupied by two juvenile females. The Minor was the driver of the vehicle. The minor entered the roadway from the area of 312 W franklin street. The minor entered the roadway, crossing the westbound lane of traffic, failing to yield to traffic. The minor traveled into the eastbound lane of traffic. Mann was traveling east. Mann swerved in an attempt to avoid collision with The minor. Mann traveled into the ditch on the south side of the road and was unable to avoid collision with the minor. The minor came to a stop in a yard on the north side of W. Franklin street. The minor was injured in the roadway. The minor’s passenger was not injured. Mann came to a stop facing east on the south side of W. franklin street. The minor was transported to the hospital.  The passenger was able to be driven home. Mann’s vehicle sustained damage to the driver’s side of the vehicle but was able to be driven from the scene.

4-8-23 David Nance was traveling west on 500 North Rd, when a deer ran in front of him and struck the front of the vehicle. The vehicle was towed from the scene. No injuries.

4-9-23 Jeffrey Brinkley and Randall Weaver were involved in a traffic crash. Weaver ended Brinkley, sending both vehicles off the roadway. Witness's with Norfolk Southern stated they had observed Weaver passing Brinkley around near Willy's. They then witnessed Brinkley passing Weaver, and then braking hard. Weaver stated the same, and advised he was unable to avoid striking Brinkley. Both drivers complained of neck pain and were transported for medical care. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

The Taylorville Police investigated a crash that occurred on April 6th around 6:33 PM on East Market and South Walnut Street. Greg Johnson of Taylorville backed out of an adjacent parking lot, traveling north, and struck a parked vehicle on East Market Street, 100 feet west of the intersection at South Walnut Street. Both vehicles remained operational, and no injuries were reported.

4-3-23 Dale Detmers, age 47 was arrested by CCSO on a FTA warrant for possession of meth.

4-4-23 William Thomas, age 36, of Pana was arrested by CCSO on a FTA warrant for possession of meth.

Crashes

3-26-23 Madelyn Rule was going east on county road 5 coming down the hill approaching the intersection of 1100 N and 700 E Road. Rule lost control on the wet road and could not make the turn in the road and veered off the roadway, struck a utility pole, and ended up in the field at the bottom of the hill. Neither driver or passenger went to the hospital. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

3-31-23 Ricky Bradshaw and Robert Sanders-Emery were involved in a traffic crash in Assumption township. Sanders-Emery was traveling south on US Highway 51. Bradshaw was traveling east on Illinois Street and approached the intersection at US Highway 51. Bradshaw Stopped at the stop sign and then proceeded into the intersection. Sanders-Emery hit Bradshaw in the lane of traffic. After the crash, Bradshaw drove from the scene. No injuries. No tow.

3-31-23 Catlin Nadyne was traveling west on 1500 North Rd. in Prairieton township when she went off the roadway to the north, turning the vehicle on its side. No injuries. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

4-2-23 Sandra Klein and Bruce Lowe II were involved in a traffic crash in Stonington. Klein was backing from the private driveway of the residence at 302 W. Wabash Avenue in Stonington. (The private drive entrance/exit is located approximately 125 feet south of W. Wabash Avenue on N. Church Street.) Lowe II was traveling southbound on N. Church Street. Klien backed into the roadway and struck Lowe II. Klein received minor rear end damage. Lowe II received minor front end damage. No injuries were reported.

4-3-23 Anastasia Austin was traveling west on township road 1350 N. and lost control of her vehicle, went off on the right side of the roadway, overcorrected, went across the roadway, struck the ditch, causing her vehicle to end up in the field. The vehicle came to a rest on the south side of the ditch. Austin was taken to the emergency room. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

4-4-23 Joshua Jones and Jessica Baird were involved in a traffic crash. Jones and Baird were traveling west on 1500 North Rd. Jones was hauling construction equipment, including a step ladder. The step ladder fell out of his vehicle into the roadway, striking Baird on the front of the vehicle. No injuries. No tow.

Accident

3/30/23 -   On 3/30/23 Rachel Beck, 41, was travelling south on IL Route 51.  Driver stated that she was ran off the roadway by an unknown motorist.  Beck stated could not give any detail to the County Deputy Goebel of the vehicle that was said to have ran her off the road.  Driver failed to negotiate the curve. Driver struck an arrow sign and then a road closed sign/barrier.  Beck came to a stop after striking both objects.  Vehicle had front end damage.  Beck was transported to the hospital by ambulance.

4/02/22

John W. Daykin, age 64, of Taylorville was arrested for DUI.

Angela L. Simmons, age 58, of Taylorville was arrested for Driving With No Valid Drivers License.

There was a motor vehicle accident on March 22nd, 2023 at the intersection of Park Street and Webster Street around 9 PM. When police arrived on the scene, officers observed severe damage on two vehicles.  After talking to witnesses it was determined that a minor from Taylorville had the right of way and Casey Moma of Taylorville failed to yield the right of way and both vehicles hit. No injuries were reported and Moma received two citations for improper turn as well as failure to produce valid insurance. 

Taylorville Police responded to a vehicle accident on March 29th at 8:04 AM. April Murrey of Taylorville was heading south on Cottage approaching Elm.  Breanne L. True of Taylorville was heading west on Elm approaching Cottage.  Murrey disobeyed a yield sign and entered the intersection in front of True.  True struck Murrey's vehicle. No reports of injuries and Murrey received a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. 

On March 29th, at 12:38 PM Macey Smith of Taylorville, Clara Glover of Taylorville, and Ronald Warren of Taylorville were all eastbound on Park Street towards Cherokee Street. Glover and Warren were slowed/stopped in traffic as they approached the Cherokee Street stop light.  Smith failed to reduce speed and collided their front end with the rear end of Glover who hit Warren. No injuries were reported and Unit 1 received a citation.
