Taylorville Police Department responded to an accident on West Street and Spresser on January 17th at 3 PM. Michael Hughes of Taylorville exited Ace Hardware traveling east on Spresser Street.  A minor from Taylorville was stopped at the stop sign at West and Spresser.  The minor failed to yield to Hughes and struck their vehicle on the rear drivers side.  No injuries were reported.

Stacey Woods, 49, of Taylorville was traveling West on 1320 North RD when a deer ran on the roadway. The vehicle was unable to stop from hitting the deer on the front passenger side of the vehicle.

Faye Hughes, 63, of Taylorville was traveling North on 1350 East RD and struck a deer.

1/25/25 at 8:56 p.m.

Justin Koch, 17, of Rochester was traveling West on 2050 North RD when the driver lost control causing the vehicle to collide with a tree on the Northside of the roadway. The vehicle then had a secondary impact to the rear after deflecting off of the tree. Taylorville Towing towed the vehicle from the scene.

Samantha Combs, 35, of Nokomis (Unit 1) and Albert Gatton, 64, of Nokomis (Unit 2)

Unit 1 was traveling North on County Highway 1 at about 875 North and got over on the shoulder of the road and lost control on the icy road surface. Unit 1 then came back onto the roadway and slid sideways into the Southbound lane. Unit 1 then collided with Unit 2 in the roadway as Unit 2 was heading Southbound.

1/20/25 at 5:18 a.m.

Isabella Torres, 18, of Mt. Auburn was traveling Southbound in IL RTE 48 at 415 North when it left the Westside of the road for unknown reasons. The vehicle struck the ditch embankment and continued Southbound before coming to a stop in the ditch on the Southside of IL RTE 48.

Macy Kapper, 22, of Oreana was traveling North near 1140 US Highway 51, in the right hand lane and crossed over the fog line to the right and onto the rumble strip. The driver then over corrected causing loss of control of the vehicle. The vehicle then skidded across the northbound lanes and into the grass median causing the vehicle to overturn. The vehicle continued to overturn across the southbound lanes eventually coming to a rest on a ditch embankment to the West of the southbound lanes. The vehicle was towed from the scene by Area 51 Towing.

1/10/25 at 7:30 a.m.

David Loxterman, 33, of Galloway, OH (Unit 1) and Breeanna Dodd, 26, of Edinburg (Unit 2)

Unit 2 was traveling Northwest on Wildcat Way and Unit 1 was traveling West on Franklin St. at the stop sign with Wildcat Way. Unit 1 failed to stop at the stop sign due to ice and snow packed on the roadway. Unit 1 slid into Unit 2 in the intersection.

1/10/25 at 7:51 a.m.

Izabella Adcock, 17, of Moweaqua was traveling East on 1900 North RD when the vehicle skidded out of control due to iced road conditions. The vehicle then went off the right side of the roadway and collided with a fence at the location of 2458 East.

1/11/25 at 10:56 a.m.

Eric Reed, 36, of Assumption was traveling Westbound on County Highway 6 at approximately ¼ mile West of Township RD 2500 E. The driver lost control on the snow/slush covered roadway. The vehicle proceeded across the Eastbound land and struck the snow packed south ditch; the vehicle overturned and came to a rest on the driver’s side facing East. The vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene by Curtis Auto Service.

1/11/25 at 7:03 p.m.

Christopher Choate, 30, of Nokomis was traveling South on County Highway 1 when a deer entered the roadway. The vehicle made contact with the deer with the rear passenger side bumper.

Leandra Jophlin, 23, of Pana was traveling Southbound in IL RTE 29 a deer came out from the Eastside of the road and struck the deer causing minor damage.

Nolan Longsdon, 17, of Ramsey was traveling North on 2500 E RD when it approached the t-intersection at 600 N RD and misjudged the turn and began skidding. The vehicle struck the ditch located on the Northside of 600 N RD and then began rolling before coming to a stop just North of 600 N RD. The vehicle was towed from the scene by Morrell Auto Service

1/4/25 at 2:00 a.m.

Tyler Hobbs, 22, of Edinburg was traveling North on 600 E RD and left the roadway and collided with a ditch on the Eastside of 600 E RD. The vehicle had damage to its passenger side rear and was found unoccupied. the vehicle was removed from the scene by Kertow’s Towing and no injuries were reported.

1/6/25 at 3:03 p.m.

Ethan Belsher, 18, of Taylorville (Unit 1) and Gordon Moore, 32, of Rochester (Unit 2) were traveling West on 100 N RD and 625 E RD. Unit 1 was plowing snow off 1100 N RD and came to a complete stop on 1100 N RD. Unit 1 then began backing up to continue to clear snow from 1100 N RD and did not see Unit 2 behind and backed into Unit 2

1/7/25 at 2:53 a.m.

Corbin Stevenson, 23, of Ramsey was traveling Northbound on 1250 E RD at 690 N RD. A deer entered the roadway from the West and struck the vehicle on the front driver’s side. The vehicle spun into a deep snow bank on the Westside of the road. The vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed by Morrell’s Auto Service.

The accident happened at West Springfield Road and Cheney Street.
