7-28-23 Bradley Gobert, age 44, of Mattoon was arrested by CCSO for driving suspended and motor vehicle theft.

7-20-23 Troy Smith, age 36, of Taylorville was arrested by CCSO on a FTA warrant for driving on suspended license.

7-20-23 Patricia Miller, age 38, of Pana was arrested by CCSO for domestic battery and aggravated battery.

7-23-23 William Lawrence, age 49, of Shelbyville was arrested by CCSO for driving under the influence of drugs.

7-26-23 Courtney Scotland, age 20, of Pana was arrested by Pana PD for domestic battery.

Crashes

7-17-23 Malaina McNeill and Dorse Conway were involved in a traffic crash in Johnson township. McNeill was behind Conway. Both traveling North on Christian County Highway 1 (1250 East Road) at about 700 North. Conway slowed down in traffic to make a right turn onto private property. McNeill was following too closely and hit Conway in the rear left corner. Both Units drove away from the scene. No injuries.

7-21-23 Beau Ealey was traveling west on County Highway 2 at about 650 East. A deer entered the roadway from the north. Ealey was unable to avoid hitting the deer. Ealey’s vehicle was towed from the scene. No injuries.

7-23-23 Caitlynn Talkington and Rodney Stephens were involved in a traffic crash in Buckhart township. Talkington and Stephens were traveling northwest on IL Route 29 in the right lane. Talkington was behind Stephens and was closing on Stephens at a rapid pace. Driver of Talkington stated she attempted to brake before striking Stephens in the rear and was unable to slow quick enough. Talkington attempted to change into the left lane and lost control of the vehicle. Talkington skidded into the rear drive tires of Stephens. No injuries were reported. Stephen’s vehicle was driven from the scene and Talkington’s was towed.

Crashes

7-1-23 Justin Wilham was traveling south on 800 East Road, just south of 2050 North where there is a jog in the road. Wilham lost control and drove into the ditch causing the vehicle to overturn and land on its side. No injuries. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

7-7-23 Blaine Nessl was traveling north on 1250 East Road when he struck a deer in the roadway. No injuries. No tow.

7-10-23 Harold Agnew was traveling eastbound on 1700 N. Road when a deer entered the roadway and Agnew struck the deer causing significant damage to the vehicle. No injury. No tow.

7-12-23 Marissa Holmes was traveling north on 1600 East in Taylorville township when she struck a deer in the roadway. The vehicle was able to be driven from the scene. No injuries.

Trevon Nash, age 51, of Taylorville, was arrested for Driving While Registration Suspended.

Erie Miller, age 72, of Taylorville was arrested for Driving While Registration Suspended.

The Taylorville Police investigated the following car crashes.  On June 23rd at 7:43 PM, there was a crash at the intersection of West Park Street and North Main Street.  Amanda Walker of Morrisonville was traveling west bound on Park Street and a minor proceeded into the intersection attempting to turn West onto Park Street from Main Street, failing to yield to the right of way of Walker.  Walker collided with the driver side of the minor. No injuries were reported. 

On June 29th, at 2:18 PM A minor was crossing Webster Street from John Street towards the parking area for KFC.  The minor advised they did not see any vehicle as they began to cross the intersection.  The minor then advised Victoria Cook of Edgewood to come from Park Street onto Webster Street at a high rate of speed.  The minor then made contact with Cook causing her vehicle to go sideways.  Cook was pushed into the entrance of the KFC Parking lot and the minor's vehicle had severe damage.  The passenger for Cook's vehicle had to be transported to an area hospital. Cook was issued a citation for no valid insurance on the day of the accident. 

Kyle Swisher of Taylorville and Hanna Considine of Pana were traveling west bound on Park Street on July 1st at around 7:20 PM.  Considine slowed for standing water under the viaduct.  Swisher was traveling too closely to Considine and struck the rear of Swisher.  Swisher had air bag deployment and was towed from the scene.  No injuries were reported.

Sherry L. Woods, age 40, of Blue Mound Illinois was arrested for Driving with Suspended Registration.

7/07/23

Mary K. Curtin, age 25, of Stonington Illinois was arrested for DUI.

The following accident was investigated by TPD.  On June 29th at 3:43 PM, Tara L. Blome was traveling east on East Park Street and stopped at the light.  Mallory P. Piper failed to reduce speed striking Blome from behind. No injuries were reported.

6/23/23

Adam Lowis was traveling on 900 N at approximately 1387 E when the vehicle left the road way and struck multiple trees. The vehicle was towed from the scene and Lowis was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

6/27/23

Vicki Myers was traveling on Route 48 in Bear Creek Township when she struck a deer in the roadway. No injuries. No tow.

6/28/23

Kollin Stephens was traveling north on 940 E near 1381 N when he struck a deer. The vehicle was able to be driven from the scene. No injuries.

Will Walton was heading northeast on Route 48 when the driver saw two deer in the roadway. Walton swerved to avoid the deer and ended up in the ditch. Walton attempted to free his vehicle ultimately becoming completely stuck and immobile. No injuries. His vehicle was towed from the scene.

6/29/23

Amanda Travis and Raymond Schmedeke were involved in a traffic crash in King Township. Travis was traveling south on 200 E. approaching the intersection with 500 N. Schmedeke was traveling east on 500 N. approaching the intersection with 200 E. Schmedeke was pulling a 1998 Trail King trailer. Travis failed to yield at the stop at the intersection, striking the trailer Schmedeke was pulling. Two of the rear axles on the trailer were knocked off the trailer. Travis’s vehicle was towed from the scene and she was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Lisa Stice, age 56, of Taylorville was arrested for Driving a Vehicle with Suspended Registration.

William D. Leaderbrand, age 36, of Taylorville was arrested on a Warrant.

Crashes:

6/29/23

Chad Johnson was traveling south east on IL Route 29 at approximately 1750 E. Due to the in climate weather and water on the roadway, Johnson lost control of the vehicle, and it ran off the roadway and overturned. No injuries. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

7/1/23

Daniel Spallinger and Donna Gutmann were involved in a traffic crash in Mt. Auburn. Spallinger was traveling southbound on S. Broad Street in Mt. Auburn, approaching the stop sign "T" intersection with E/W Arch Street. Gutmann was traveling eastbound on W. Arch Street and was slowing to proceed north onto S. Broad Street. Spallinger stated he came up to the stop sign and did not see Gutmann. He advised he went to pull out and Gutmann was turning the corner. Spallinger stated he slammed on his brakes, slid in the rocks and made contact with Gutmann in the intersection. Spallinger received minor, front driver's side damage. Gutmann received damage to the driver's side. No injuries were reported. No tow.

7/2/23

Paul Morgan was traveling southwest on IL Route 48 at approximately 970 E. when he struck a deer in the roadway. No injuries and the vehicle was towed from the scene.
