Angel Stout, 41, of Tower Hill, was arrested by the Illinois State Police for Theft $300-$10K, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Methamphetamine, Meth Delivery and Meth Manufacturing <15 grams.

 

7/16/25 at 1:58 p.m.

Michael Moore, 73, of Moweaqua was traveling westbound in the 900 block of Midland Ave and he stated he had to move to the opposite side of the road to evade oncoming traffic. The vehicle left the south side of the roadway and overturned.

 

7/16/25 at 8:13 p.m.

Deanna Black-Royer (Unit 1), 60, of Mt. Zion and Todd Hart (Unit 2), 51, of Bone Gap

Unit 2 was raveling northwest on IL RT 29 and approximately 740 North. Unit 1 was attempting to overtake Unit 2 and Unit 1 sideswiped Unit 2 while passing. Unit 2 pulled over and contacted law enforcement. Unit 2 continued traveling northwest away from the traffic crash. Unit 1 contacted law enforcement approximately 15 minutes later when her vehicle ran out of gas.

 

7/17/25 at 4:06 a.m.

Elijah Sanders (Unit 1), 39, of Stonington and Travis Peden (Unit 2), 57, of Stonington

Unit 1 was traveling west on 1950 North RD and Unit 1 failed to yield and struck Unit 2 on its drivers side. Unit 1 had damage to its front and Unit 2 had damage to its drivers side. Both vehicles were removed from the scene by Kertow’s Towing.

 

7/19/25 at 1:04 a.m.

Unknown (Unit 1) and Michael Shanks (Unit 2), 70, of Taylorville

Unit 2 was traveling east on IL RT 104 at about 250 East and stopped at a red light in the construction area. Unit 1 had been following Unit 2 and failed to stop at the red light. the front of Unit 1 hit Unit 2 in the rear and then Unit 1 fled the scene after the crash.

 

7/22/25 at 9:15 p.m.

Misty Buffenmeyer, 44, of Owaneco was traveling West on 900 North RD at 1885 East hen a deer entered the roadway and the vehicle struck the deer causing damage to the front end of the vehicle.

 

7/22/25 at 9:10 a.m.

Stephen Franklin, 19, of Taylorville was traveling East on 1350 North RD at about 690 East when the vehicle went off the South side of the roadway and traveled down the ditch. The vehicle hit he embankment above a culvert causing damage to the front and passenger side of the vehicle. The driver was able to remove the truck and get it home without being towed.

7/11/25 at 8:37 p.m.

Joseph Leonard, 46, of Kincaid was traveling North near 369 N. 1250 E Road and struck a deer that entered the roadway.

 

7/12/25 at 4:51 p.m.

The vehicle was traveling Eat on 2400 N Road when the driver lost control of the vehicle at the approximate location of 1987 East. The vehicle exited the left side of the roadway causing the vehicle to roll over. The driver of the vehicle left the scene prior to police and fire’s arrival.

 

7/13/25

Alexis Givens, 44, of Taylorville was arrested by the Taylorville Police Department for Possession of Methamphetamine, Meth Delivery, Violating Illinois Control Substance Act and Criminal Fortification of Residence.

 

 

The Taylorville Police Department reported on the following vehicles crashes;

 

July 1st 4:51 PM, Bernard Curvey of Taylorville followed too closely and crashed into Scott D. Becker traveling East on Park Street at Shawnee Street.  No injuries were reported.

 


On Friday, 07/04/2025, at 11:22 a.m. 911 radioed of a two vehicle accident at the intersection of North Elevator and the alley near the old West Grade School. Upon police arrival, Everett D. Simpson Jr. of Taylorville was struck on the passenger side by Rose M. Coady of Taylorville, which was now at rest against the Ameren utility pole. Simpson Jr. said it was his fault. Stated that traffic on N. Houston Street was backed up from the ending of the recent parade so he was going to try to get around the traffic by traveling down the alley. The alley is actually marked for one way use traveling east to west. Simpson came through the intersection while Coady was traveling north on Elevator Street. Coady said she did not see Simpson.  Simpson was cited for failure to reduce speed and operation of uninsured motor vehicle.

 

Taylorville Police were called to the parking lot of CNB Bank around 3:30 p.m. on July 9th for a report of a traffic accident involving a maroon vehicle. Officers later located one of the vehicles parked in the old CNB location, now used by the USDA. The driver of that vehicle, Angela Moriarty of Gays, IL told officers she was heading north on North Webster Street when a white truck made a sudden turn into her, striking her vehicle. She pulled off the road into the next parking lot, but the truck did not stop or follow. Officers searched the area for the second vehicle using debris found at the intersection of Webster and Wilson. The suspect vehicle and driver were not found at the scene. Later, the grandmother of the other driver contacted police to say her granddaughter had been driving the truck and had initially waited at a nearby Taco Bell before returning to Kincaid. She was advised to bring both the vehicle and driver to the Taylorville Police Department for further investigation. The driver was identified as Chelsea L. Pellinghelli of Kingwood, Texas.  No injuries were reported, and the driver of the damaged vehicle refused medical treatment and left the scene under her own power.

Zachary Miller, 29, of Heyworth was traveling South on US Highway 51 at 1584 North when the driver lost control while attempting to change lanes. The vehicle then skidded into the right ditch embankment of the southbound lane.

7/5/25 at 2:25 p.m.

Steven Vose, 66, of Bloomington was traveling North on 1400 East Road when the driver stated he fell asleep while driving down the road. The vehicle left the roadway on the west side of the road and crossed the intersection at 2700 North Road and went airborne. the vehicle then landed on the front end before going back into the lanes of traffic. The vehicle rolled multiple times before coming to a rest on the passenger side.

Taylorville police responded to the following vehicle crashes;

On June 27th at 6:11 PM Taylorville Police responded to a vehicle accident at Ill Route 48 and South Shumway.  Ryan E. Ford of Decatur was traveling northeast on IL Route 48, crossing the intersection of 48 and S. Shumway when Sheryl A. Anderson of Taylorville was stopped at the stop sign.  Ford proceeded through the intersection, striking Anderson's driver side.  Both vehicles were towed. 

 

On June 28th, 2025 at 12:10 AM Taylorville Police responded to an accident at North Cheney. A 17 year old of Taylorville was heading north on the 800 block of Cheney when they left the roadway on the left side striking a power pole.  They were transported from the scene to the hospital.  They were issued citations for improper lane usage and for illegal transportation of alcohol.

Jennifer Davis, 40, of Bulpitt was traveling East on 2080 East RD and 500 North RD when a deer ran in the road and hit the front bumper.

 

6/26/25 at 2:03 p.m.

Ryan Johnson, 21, of Taylorville was traveling South on 900 East RD when a deer entered the roadway and collided with the vehicle.

Darcy Garrett, 29, of Edinburg was traveling Southeast on IL RT 29 near 625 East RD when the vehicle exited the roadway into a grass median and struck a road sign. The vehicle then crossed back over the Southbound lanes and off the roadway again where it struck a ditch bank and came to rest in a corn field.

Raymond D. Thompson, age 39, of Taylorville, was arrested for Resisting Arrest and Obstruction of Justice. 

 

The Taylorville police responded to the following vehicle crashes:

 

On June 17th at 11:57 a.m., Antone Derocchi, Age 70, struck a parked vehicle while traveling East on West Vine Street. The vehicle was unoccupied at the time of the incident.

 

On June 24th, 2025 at 11:47 a.m., Jeffrey J. Spear, age 30, entered the turn lane at the intersection of Webster and Park Streets. Spear failed to stop in time before hitting the rear end of another vehicle already in the turn lane. Both vehicles were able to leave the scene with a failure to yield citation given to Spear.

 

On June 27th, 2025, at 7:04 a.m., Daniel Gaubatz, age 39, failed to yield while turning left from North Webster St onto East Park Street. Gaubatz hit the vehicle of Blythe Wilson, age 42, Wilson was transported by Dunn's Ambulance to St. John's Hospital for further evaluation. Gaubatz was assessed three citations on scene but was able to drive his vehicle following the crash.

 

Also on June 27th, 2025, at 12:05 p.m., Freda M. Klespitz, age 82, was attempting to exit a parking lot at the intersection of North Webster and West John Street, when Klespitz pulled too far forward and hit another motorist. The oncoming vehicle was damaged on the front and passenger sides.
