09-24-21 Levi Denton 33 was in Prairieton Township when the vehicle struck a deer. No injuries. No tow.

09-29-21 Brian Johnson 29 and Mark Bilyeu 64 were involved in a traffic crash in Assumption Township. Johnson was traveling northbound on 2300 East Road. Bilyeu was traveling westbound on County Road 1200 North Road. As both Units approached the unmarked intersection, Johnson turned right on to 1200 North Road crossing over into the eastbound lane striking Bilyeu in the rear driver's side. No injuries. No tow.

28 year old Jessica D. Hogge of Taylorville was arrested on Saturday for a warrant.

31 year old Lacey J. Austin of Taylorville was arrested on Saturday for a warrant.

51 year old Ronald D. Samson of Taylorville was arrested on Saturday for a warrant.

31 year old Jeremy R. Maters of Taylorville was arrested on Wednesday for a warrant. 

Taylorville Police responded to a vehicle accident on September 24th at 10:25 PM. A minor was traveling northbound attempting to turn west onto Spresser Street from Webster Street while Tonya Fisher from Stonington was traveling southbound on Webster Street and proceeding through a green light. The minor failed to yield to the right of way for Fisher and the vehicles collided. While both drivers were ok, passengers were transported to area hospitals for injuries. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. 

Taylorville Police responded to a vehicle accident on West Springfield Road and North Cheney Street in Taylorville on September 25th at 2:25 AM. A vehicle was parked improperly along West Springfield Road. The investigation revealed that the parked car was likely headed in the southeast lane when it struck a median after failing to turn right onto N. Cheney Street from West Springfield Road.  The vehicle was severely disabled and struck and rode along the curb multiple times eventually coming to a stop at 906 W. Springfield Road. The vehicle was towed from the scene. 

Taylorville Police responded to a vehicle accident on September 26th at 4:47 PM. James W. Shoup of Fort Madison Iowa was parked at 918 E Park Street. He didn’t know there was not a safe exit out of the lot and attempted to turn southeast into an alleyway to get back on the main road and hit the southwest corner of a garage. No injuries were reported.

35 year old Carl Gray was arrested on Tuesday for failure to register and aggravated battery.

09-27-21 Ronald Wick 65 was at 1461 N 960 E Road in Taylorville when he struck a deer and was thrown from his motorcycle. Wick was transported to St. Johns. Wick’s motorcycle was removed on a trailer.

09-28-21 Emily Conaway 22 and Anthony McKinney 48 were involved in a traffic crash in South Fork Township. Conaway was traveling east bound on IL RT 104. McKinney was traveling east bound on IL RT 104. Conaway was following to closely to McKinney. McKinney stated he turned his turn signal on signaling he was turning right onto 465 East road when he was struck in the rear end of his vehicle by Conaway. McKinney lost control of the vehicle and came to a stop facing north on the south east side of the intersection. Conaway came to a stop facing east on the side of IL RT 104. There was significant damage to the front end of Conaway’s car.

09-29-21 Pamela Moses 55 was traveling westbound on Route 48 when she struck a deer. Her car received major front end and passenger side damage. No injuries reported.

CRASHES

On 09-17-21 Meah Wagahoft  and Robert Harlow were involved in a traffic crash in May Township. Harlow was northbound on County Road 1800 East. Wagahoft was westbound on 1600 North road. After stopping at the stop sign Wagahoft entered the roadway turning left onto 1800 east road. Wagahoft failed to yield to Harlow. Harlow swerved to avoid Wagahoft. Wagahoft struck Harlow in the passenger-side. No report of injury.

On 09-18-21 Amanda Carnahan failed to negotiate the curve from county Rd 450 E onto 1900 N. The vehicle traveled into a ditch, tearing the front driver side wheel off.

On 09-19-21 Peyton Denton was traveling south on 2600 east in Prairieton Township south of 2100 north. Denton was unaware that the bridge crossing the creek at approximately 1960 north was closed. Denton avoided the bridge and turned his vehicle to the east leaving the roadway. Denton crossed a field ditch and entered the creek on the east side of the bridge. Denton came to rest with the vehicle in the water at the bottom of the creek. No injuries, no tow.

ON 09-13-21 DEBORAH SEATON AND KAMERON BOLINE WERE INVOLVED IN A TRAFFIC CRASH IN RURAL BUCKHART TOWNSHIP.  SEATON WAS NORTHBOUND ON 1000 EAST ROAD DRIVING A 2014 FORD.  BOLINE WAS EASTBOUND ON COUNTY HIGHWAY 21 DRIVING A 2004 SATURN. SEATON HAD STOPPED AT THE STOP SIGN AND BELIEVED IT WAS SAFE TO PROCEED.  SEATON MADE A LEFT TURN ONTO COUNTY HIGHWAY 21, IN FRONT OF THE BOLINE VEHICLE.  BOLINE HAD TO SWERVE RIGHT TO MISS THE SEATON VEHICLE CAUSING HIM TO EXIT THE ROADWAY, STRIKE A UTILITY POLE AND PROCEED THROUGH THE DITCH.  THE BOLINE VEHICLE RECEIVED DAMAGE AND WAS TOWED FROM THE SCENE.  THE SEATON VEHICLE WAS A NON CONTACT VEHICLE AND RECEIVED NO DAMAGE.  BOTH PARTIES REFUSED MEDICAL TREATMENT.

On 9/15/21 Christian E. Crowder age 30 of Taylorville was arrested for Domestic Battery, Driving while License Suspended, and Leaving the scene of an accident

On 9/15/21 Andrew D. Smith age 33 of Taylorville was arrested for Domestic Battery

Suzanne M. McCormick of Virden and Rita Black of Pawnee were eastbound on West Spresser Street approaching the intersection of North Webster.  McCormick stated she attempted to maneuver into the turn lane and struck Black.  Black stated she was already in the turn lane when McCormick struck her vehicle.  No injuries were reported. 

Jonathan W. Estes of Taylorville was westbound in the 1300 Block of West England Street and struck two vehicles including a construction trailer.  Estes attempted to back up from the collision with the trailer but got stuck and spun the left tire creating a hole.  No injuries were reported.  Estes was arrested for driving while under the influence of alcohol, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and operating an uninsured vehicle.

CRASHES

On September 11th, John Lovekamp was northbound on South Fork Township Road 700 East.  ½ mile north of 1400 North Road, Lovekamp struck a deer causing damage to his vehicle. No injuries were reported.

31 year old Aimee Miller of Pana was arrested on Monday for driving on a suspended/revoked license.

CRASHES:

James Welch of Virden was northbound on 1065 East Road in Johnson Township on Thursday on his motorcycle.  At the Township Road 930 North Curve, the road had been freshly oiled and Welch lost control of the motorcycle and crashed into the North Ditch.  Welch was transported by ambulance. 

Jerry Dial of Tovey and Sheila Unser of Morrisonville were involved in a crash in rural bear creek township. Dial was northbound on 400 East Road and Unser was westbound on 750 North Road.  Dial had stopped his vehicle at the stop sign and began to proceed through the intersection striking Unser’s vehicle.  Dial refused treatment and Unser was taken by ambulance. Dial was issued a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

CRASHES

On 09-03-21 Zachary Simmons of Decatur was southbound on IL Route 48 in Johnson Township. Simmons was approaching 965 East Road in his 2013 Ford and thought a vehicle on 965 East was going to pull onto 48 in front of him. Simmons applied his brakes, causing him to skid into the ditch and then into the field. The vehicle received damage but was driven from the scene. No injuries were reported.

The Taylorville Police Department reported the following to Regional Radio News;

TPD responded to a vehicle crash on September 6th at 6:27 PM at the 500 Block of North Webster Street. Bernard Curvey of Taylorville was entered the 500 block of North Webster from the 510 N. Webster intersection while turning southbound onto North Webster Street.  At this time a motorcycle driven by Jeremy W. Hamm of Springfield was traveling northbound at an accelerated rate of speed towards the 510 N. Webster intersection striking the driver’s side rear end of Curvey’s vehicle.

The impact of the vehicles caused Hamm to be ejected multiple feet. Both vehicles were significantly damaged.  Curvey sustained minor injuries. Curvey’s passenger reported no injuries.  Hamm sustained significant injuries and was transported from scene by EMS. ISP was notified and the Crash Reconstruction Units worked the scene.

48 year old George Bailey of Taylorville was arrested on Tuesday on an original warrant for possession of meth.

35 year old Allison Grothaus of Springfield was arrested on Tuesday on an FTA warrant for theft.

43 year old Steven Shull of Taylorville was arrested on Tuesday for domestic battery.

48 year old Andrew Heberling of Palmer was arrested on Tuesday for driving on a suspended revoked driver’s license. 

Vehicle Crashes: On September 3rd Madison Rickey of Assumption was northbound on County Highway 6 in Assumption Township.  Just north of 1300 North Road, Rickey lost control of her 2019 Dodge and went into the east ditch and overturned.  Rickey was transported to St. John’s Hospital.

On September 4th, Barry Jones of Morrisonville was eastbound on South Fork Township Road 1275 North when a deer ran into the road. Jones struck the deer causing damage. No injuries were reported.

On September 7th, Angela Perry was eastbound on DeWitt Street in Pana when she struck a mailbox causing damage to the vehicle and the mailbox. No injuries were reported.
