3/3/25 at 3:31 a.m.

Unit 1 (Larry Hooper, 67, of Taylorville) and Unit 2 (Jennifer Paoni, 53, of Springfield)

Unit 1 and Unit 2 were both traveling West on 1800 North RD and 1300 East RD when Unit 2 stated that Unit 1 was traveling at a slow rate of speed. Unit 1 break checked Unit 2. Unit 2 attempted to pass Unit 1. Unit 2 state that Unit 1 then swerved and struck Unit 2. Unit 1 then chased Unit 2 traveling North on 1300 East RD. Both Unit 1 and Unit 2 contacted the Christian County Sheriff’s Office separately about the incident. Unit 1 admitted to break checking Unit 2 but did not admit to swerving into Unit 2’s lane.

3/6/25 at 6:30 a.m.

Harold Friend, 59, of Owaneco was traveling North on 1800 East Rd when a deer ran into the road hitting the truck on the passenger side front bumper and passenger door.

3/15/25 at 1:34 a.m.

Braeden Romanotto, 20, of Springfield was traveling Southwest on IL RTE 48 and then took a right turn into the field about a tenth of a mile Northeast of 42 North. The vehicle then traveled Southwest through the field to try and get unstuck. The vehicle ended up at 425 N stuck in the ditch.. the driver admitted that the cause of going off of the roadway was using the GPS on his cell phone.

Nicholas Chiti, 34, of Nokomis was traveling East on RT 16 just east of the town of Rosamond when a deer ran into the roadway. The vehicle hit the deer causing damage to the vehicle.

Taylorville police responded to a vehicle accident on March 1st at 3:24 PM.  A vehicle driven by Reva S. Drabing of Mt. Auburn, was traveling east into the Angelo's parking lot.  The driver turned left and their foot slid off the brake hitting the gas pedal hitting the wall of the restaurant. Minor damage was reported to both the vehicle and to Angelo's.  No injuries were reported.

Carol Schneider, 66, of Morrisonville was traveling South on 1250 East RD when a deer entered the roadway. The vehicle made contact with the deer in the roadway and received damage to the front and driver side of the vehicle.

3/8/25 at 12:00 p.m.

Unit 1 (Christina Eigeman, 37, of Detroit, IL) and Unit 2 (David Bliss, 62, of Moroa)

Unit 1 was traveling East on 1200 North RD and crossing IL RTE 51. Unit 2 was traveling North on IL HWY 51 and as crossing the intersection of 1200 North RD. Unit 1 stated that she did not see Unit 2 and Unit 1 struck Unit 2 on the driver side. Unit 2 went off the East side of the roadway and struck a light pole. Unit 1 continued off the road to the East after the collision.

Danny M. Taylor, age 57, of Taylorville was arrested for Aggravated Domestic Battery.

The Taylorville Police Department investigated the following accidents:

7:30 a.m. on March 1, 2025, when a GMC Sierra 2500 HD exited an alleyway near 505 E. Esther Street. The vehicle then turned onto Cherokee Street before veering off course, driving through a yard, and ultimately colliding with the southwest side of the home. Authorities reported severe structural damage to the foundation, exterior walls, roof, and electrical system of the house. The driver, identified as 45-year-old David A. Blevins Jr. of Taylorville, was conscious and alert when emergency responders arrived. He was transported to HSHS St. John’s Hospital by Dunn’s Ambulance for medical evaluation.During the investigation, officers discovered an open container of cannabis near the vehicle’s passenger seat. Blevins was issued multiple citations in connection with the crash.
