Arrests

10-26-23 Mackenzie Stork, age 44, of Decatur was arrested by Stonington PD for improper use REGIS/TITLE.

3-30-23 Jacob Durbin, age 35, of Morrisonville was arrested by Morrisonville PD for driving on susp/revoked license.

Crashes

10-24-23 Melissa Kimbro was traveling west on 300 North Road in Greenwood township. Kimbro was unable to avoid hitting a deer that ran into the roadway around 1225 East Road. No injuries. No tow.

10-26-23 Cody Crites was traveling north on 850 East Rd at approximately 1350 N. when his vehicle left the roadway, slid down an embankment, and struck a tree. No injuries. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

10-26-23 Sierra Willis, Daniel Brookens, Eric Iceogle and Paige Hall were involved in a traffic crash in Pana township. Brookens, Icenogle and Hall were slowed / stopped for the traffic light in the construction zone on IL Route 29 at 519 North. Willis’ vehicle struck Brokens vehicle on the rear, pushing him into the rear of Icenogle. Icenogle then struck the rear vehicle of Hall. All units were able to drive from the scene. No injuries.

10-27-23 Charnyl McFarland was traveling North on US 51 at 1600 North RD. McFarland stated she lost control of the vehicle due to the road being wet and collided with the ditch in the median and the vehicle sustained damage to ithe vehicle’s front and rear but was able to be driven from the scene. No Injuries were reported.

10-25-23 Chad Hull, age 37, of Bulpitt was arrested by Kincaid PD for violating an order of protection.

10-25-23 Casey Conaway, age 30, of Edinburg was arrested by Kincaid PD for domestic battery.

10-22-23 Todd Richter was traveling south on township road 1950 E. Road, about 311 N. in Pana township when Richter struck the back of a vehicle that was parked off the roadway. The vehicle was towed from the scene. No injuries.

Crashes

10-20-23 Kimberly Carrell was traveling south on 1600 East Road near 400 North Road when a deer entered the roadway. Carrell was unable to avoid striking the deer and the vehicle sustained damage to its front end. The vehicle was driven from the scene. No injuries were reported.

10-20-23 Benjamen Gaddis was traveling east on 1100 North Road when a deer jumped onto the road hitting the car in the front bumper in Assumption township at about 2400 East Road. No injuries. No tow.

10-21-23 Royal Jackson was traveling east on 1350 North Road near 2049 East Road when a deer entered the roadway. Jackson was unable to avoid hitting the deer in the roadway. The vehicle sustained damage to the front end but was able to be driven from the scene. No injuries.

10-22-23 Keyosha Jackson was traveling south on 2525 East Road. Jackson stated she lost control while turning west onto 2000 N Road. and collided with the ditch on the North side of 2000 N. The vehicle sustained damage to the front end and was towed from the ditch and driven from the scene. No injuries were reported.

10-19-23 Robert Roark, age 33, of Oakley was arrested by CCSO on a warrant for burglary.

10-19-23 Brad Tolen, age 39, of Maroa was arrested by Pana PD for theft.

Crashes

10-10-23 Craig Moore was traveling on IL Route 48 in Taylorville township when he struck a deer northeast of Cherokee St. and came to a stop on the south side of the roadway. Moore was able to drive away from the scene. No injuries.

10-13-23 Adam Hankison was traveling east on IL Route 104 at approximately 50 E. when he struck a deer in the roadway. No injuries. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

10-18-23 Timothy Winans was traveling east on IL Route 104 at about 175 East Road when a deer ran into the road, striking the front of the truck. The vehicle was towed from the scene. No injuries.

10-18-23 Shannon Emmons was traveling west on 1600 N. in May township at approximately 1850 E. when she struck a deer in the roadway. No injuries. No tow.

A Juvenile Male, age 16, of Taylorville was arrested for Aggravated Assault and Criminal Damage.

The Taylorville Police Department investigated the following crashes:

On October 13th at 3:32 PM, Carl T. Parry of Taylorville was waiting on traffic to turn west onto West Park Avenue from North Cheney Street.  Ella J. Saxe of Morrisonville failed to reduce speed and struck Parry from behind.  No injuries were reported.  

On October 21, 2023 at 10:21 AM, Leann L. Hively of Quincy was driving south on Route 29 when the driver failed to reduce speed at a work zone that stopped traffic.  Robert J. Stephens of Taylorville was stopped in front of Verdale Marquardt of Quincy when Hively collided with its rear end pushing it into Marquardt's vehicle.  Major damage was done to Hively's front bumper, Stephens and Marquardt sustained minor damage.  Hively was injured and transported to TMH for evaluation. 

On October 21st at 1:22 PM, Melane R. Coulter of Mason City was in the right lane heading southeast on Springfield Road.  Coulter's vehicle was in the right lane changing to the left lane and did not see Haydee L. Franklin of Springfield.  Both vehicles hit.  No reports of injuries and both were able to drive away. 

On October 21st, at 5:02 PM, Steven A. Hansen of Taylorville struck Lindsay E. Moomey of Morrisonville after entering East Park Street north bound from Long street.  Hansen and Moomey came to rest directly west approximately 30 feet west of the intersection.  No injuries were reported.

10-16-23 Cole Montgomery, age 24, of Mt. Auburn was arrested by CCSO for criminal trespassing and resisting/obstructing an officer.

Crashes

10-1-23 Johnny Morton was traveling north on 980 East Road in Taylorville township when he lost control of the vehicle and overturned in a field east of the roadway. Morton was taken to the hospital by ambulance and the vehicle was towed from the scene.

10-17-23 Tyler Moomey was traveling south on 700 East Rd in Taylorville township when he lost control turning the car on its side. No injuries. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

10-7-23 Brock Morris, age 19, of Pana was arrested by CCSO for DUI and driving  with a suspended license.

10-12-23 David Hosick was traveling westbound on Illinois Route 16, approximately 6/10 of a mile west of Township Road 1900 E, when a deer entered the roadway. Hosick was unable to avoid striking the animal. The vehicle received front end and driver's side damage. No injuries were reported. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

10-14-23 Matthew Lynn was traveling Westbound on 350 North RD at approximately 1900 East when the driver saw a deer in the roadway. Lynn swerved to avoid the deer and entered the ditch on the South side of the roadway. Lynn then struck a concrete drainage ditch cutout rolling the vehicle. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

10-4-23 Rebekah Spaugh was traveling south on 800 East nearing the intersection  of 1700 N. As she entered the intersection Spaugh left the roadway and struck a yield sign.

10-03-23 David Amos, age 38, of Kincaid  was arrested by CCSO on a body attachment warrant for failure to appear as ordered by the court.

9-29-23 Pamela Dickey and Kayla Becker were involved in a traffic crash in Taylorville. Dickey stated that she was leaving the parking at Walmart, heading east to the exit onto Route 29. Dickey stated that she did not see Becker coming north into the parking lot off Route 104. Dickey stated that she hit the front of Becker’s vehicle in the parking lot. Becker stated that she tried to stop but was not able to do so. No injuries. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

10-4-23 William Ade was traveling west on 350 N. Road near 1950 East Road when a deer entered the roadway. Ade was unable to avoid hitting the deer and sustained damage to the front end of the vehicle. No injuries were reported. Ade was able to drive from the scene.

10/05/23

Kellie L. Tonelle, age 36, of Stonington Illinois was arrested for DUI.

Taylorville Police investigated the following vehicle crashes:

On September 16th at 5:06 PM, a minor was traveling east on West State Street, approaching the intersection at North Silver Street when they lost control of their vehicle left the roadway, and struck a wall on the northern side of the road.  Deployed airbags, along with skid marks left on the road indicated the vehicle was going way faster than the speed limit.  The driver was lying on the pavement next to the vehicle when police and EMS arrived and they were transported to the hospital for more evaluation.  The driver was issued a traffic citation.  

On September 19th, Torrey S. Wilbur of Pana was traveling north on Cheney Street following Alexander C. Jones of Taylorville.  Jones slowed down and Wilbur ran into the back of Jones' vehicle. No injuries were reported and both vehicles were able to drive away from the scene. 

A vehicle driven by a minor and Tracy Kimbrel of Taylorville were traveling East on Park Street on September 22nd, 3:39 PM.  Kimbrel stopped and the minor did not see the vehicle slow and ran into the back of them.  No injuries were reported. 

A vehicle driven by a minor disobeyed a stop sign on Shumway Street at the intersection with West Main Cross Street while traveling southbound on Shumway.  The minor hit a vehicle driven by another minor in the intersection while the second vehicle was attemtping to turn west onto West Main Cross from Shumway.  No injuries were reported. 

On September 25th at 3:42 PM, Angela Simmons of Taylorville struck Charles W. Galvin of Taylorville traveling north on Cherokee Street. No injuries were reported.
