The Christian County Sheriff's Office reported the following to Regional Radio News;

 

10/24/25

William Hawker, 36, of Pittsfield was arrested by the Taylorville Police Department for Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Meth Delivery.

 

10/26/25

Wyatt Cain, 25, of Taylorville was arrested by the Taylorville Police Department for Reckless Driving, Resisting Arrest by Agent of Department, Disorderly Conduct and Violation of Pretrial Release.

 

Jacob Coonrod, 43, of Farmersville was arrested by the Christian County Sheriff’s Office for Aggravated Domestic Battery.

Brandi Kay, 26, of Taylorville was arrested by the Taylorville Police Department for Meth Delivery.

 

10/29/25

Gage Allard, 19, of Taylorville was arrested by the Taylorville Police Department for Violating Order of Protection.

 

10/21/25 at 8:25 a.m.

Mary Mundhenke, 60, of Taylorville was traveling south on County 1, just south of 900 North Road when multiple deer ran into the roadway hitting the vehicle.

 

10/23/25 at 6:01 a.m.

Steven Ade, 54, f Rosamond was traveling north on 1900 East RD when the vehicle struck a deer in the roadway.

 

10/23/25 at 7:20 a.m.

William Faries Jr., 60, of Bloomfield, MO was traveling south in the 700 block of N Wilkinson ST and was going to make a left turn into Ahlstrom Industries. The vehicle went wide to make the turn and struck the driver side back wheel and fender of a parked vehicle on the west side of N Wilkinson ST.

 

10/23/25 at 3:56 p.m.

Hang Woollen, 49, of Taylorville ( Unit 1) and Jennifer Prasun, 48, of Stonington (Unit 2)

Unit 2 was traveling north on 1250 East RD at the intersection with 1700 North RD and Unit 1 was traveling west on 1700 North RD at the intersection with 1250 East RD. Unit 1 failed to yield at the stop sign and entered into the intersection. Unit 2 hit Unit 1 in the intersection and both vehicles were towed by Kertow’s Towing.

 

 

10/30/25 at 6:35 a.m.

Erik Hundorf, 34, of Taylorville was traveling south on IL RT 48 when the vehicle struck a deer that ran into the roadway.

Jonathan M. Krouse, age 41, of Taylorville, was arrested for Retail Theft.

 

Liu Qiuyun, age 47, of Washington Illinois, was arrested for Prostitution. 

 

A Juvenile Female age 17, of Taylorville, was arrested for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. 

 

A Juvenile Male age 16, of Taylorville, was arrested for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Willaim C. Hawker, age 36, of Taylorville, was arrested for Possession with Intent to Deliver. 

 

10/26/25

 

Wyatt L. Cain, age 25, of Taylorville, was arrested for Reckless Driving. 

 

Britt M. Burton, age 34, of Springfield Illinois, was arrested for DUI. 

 

Ashley M. Moehring, age 41, of Taylorville was arrested on a Warrant.
 

The Taylorville Police investigated the following accidents:

On Thursday, October 16, 2025, at around 2:45 p.m., officers responded to a minor crash on Pawnee Street between the two schools involving a silver truck driven by Shane M. Woolen of Springfield and a white SUV driven by John E. Matheny of Taylorville. Matheny was stopped in line behind a school bus picking up children in the northbound lane, which was the only open lane due to barricades closing the southbound side. According to Matheny and multiple witnesses, Woolen ignored the barricades and attempted to pass the line of vehicles. Witnesses said they honked and waved to warn him the road was closed. Woolen reportedly moved one of the barricades and tried to go around Matheny, striking it on the passenger side. The driver of the truck said he was following GPS directions for a plumbing job and claimed he didn’t realize he was near a school. Both vehicles were able to be driven from the scene. The investigating officer advised the driver of the truck that a citation could still be issued within 18 months and that witness statements would be reviewed.

 

On October 17th, 2025, at 1:22 PM, Joseph R. Alger was stopped in traffic at Springfield Road as a vehicle in traffic was turning off.  Brett A. Reeves of Rochester didn't stop in time hitting the back of Alger's vehicle. No injuries were reported.

 

On October 18th, at 11:04 AM, A uhaul moving van driven by Andrew D. Smith of Taylorville was heading west on West Spresser when Sophia J. Mckinney of Taylorville approached the alley.  The uhaul attempted to pass Mckinney's vehicle on the right, and the vehicles hit.  The U-Haul driver was issued a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.  No injuries were reported. 

 

On October 18th, 2025 at 12:10 PM. Mariah L. Lawyer of Taylorville was heading east on E. park St. when a vehicle ahead of her slowed and turned left into a private drive. She slowed in traffic and Parker A. Osburn of Springfield did not get stopped before striking Lawyer in the rear. Both vehicles were damaged severely. Both were towed from the scene. Lawyer was seen by EMT's for an injury to the drivers arm. Osburn was issued two citations. One for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. One for no insurance.

 

On October 15th, 2025, 2:08 PM,  Keith L. Barlow of Taylorville was traveling east on West Main Cross Street, passing Water Street, when the vehicle left the roadway striking the Hillcrest Trailer Park sign.  It eventually struck a tree, striking the back of 67 Hillcrest and coming to a rest after hitting the back side of 68 Hillcrest.

Lillian Van Winsen, 19, of Mt. Auburn was arrested by the Christian County Sheriff’s Office for Threatening Public Official.

Randall Fletcher, 52, of Decatur was arrested by the Christian County Sheriff’s Office for Driving with Suspended License.

 

10/20/25

Charles Brandt, 20, of Taylorville was arrested by the Taylorville Police Department or Aggravated Domestic Battery/Strangle and Unlawful Restraint.

 

10/21/25

Charles Overla, 47, of Decatur was arrested by the Taylorville Police Department for Unlawful Use of Weapon and Aid/Abet/Poss/Sell Stolen Vehicle.

 

CRASHES

 

10/7/25 at 2:18 a.m.

A minor of Taylorville was driving and struck a tree and the vehicle caught fire. Crash is currently under investigation by ISP Crash Reconstruction.

 

10/15/25 at 7:52 a.m.

Kylie Myers, 19, of Chatham (Unit 1) and Jessica Stephens, 37, of Mt. Auburn (Unit 2)

Unit 1 was traveling west on 2000 North RD at the intersection with 1300 East RD (County Highway 22). Unit 2 was traveling south on 1300 East RD at the intersection with 2000 North RD when Unit 1 failed to stop at the stop sign and continued into the intersection. The front end of Unit 1, hit Unit 2 in the driver front side and Unit 2 went off the roadway to the southwest. Unit 2 went through the ditch and into the field. Unit 2 continued out of control and overturned multiple times before coming to rest on its wheels. Unit 1 spun out to the southwest and traveled through the ditch and came to rest partially in the ditch and the field.

 

10/15/25 at 5:19 p.m.

Mary Johnson, 90, of Nokomis (Unit 1) and Damon Leisure, 55, of Hillsboro (Unit 2)

Unit 1 was traveling west on 1300 North RD and Unit 2 was traveling north on 1300 East RD when Unit 1 failed to yield the right of way and entered into oncoming traffic when Unit 2 hit Unit 1 on the driver’s side door. Unit 1 then spun around and came to a stop facing south off the road west on 1300 East RD and Unit 2 came to a stop east of the road on 1300 East RD.

 

10/21/25 at 8:25 a.m.

Mary Mundhenke, 60, of Taylorville was traveling south on County 1, just south of 900 North RD when multiple deer ran into the roadway hitting the vehicle.

 

10/22/25 at 6:50 a.m.

Arlana Henley, 45, of Taylorville was traveling south on 700 East RD at about 1540 North when the driver saw several deer off the east side of the roadway. The driver slowed to a near stop because of the deer; 3 deer ran off to the east and the other deer ran west into the roadway and ran into the vehicle. The deer hit the vehicle  on the front of the diver side mirror and went down the diver side of the vehicle causing damage. The vehicle had damage to every panel on the driver side and to the rear bumper.

 

10/22/25 at 6:45 a.m.

Carol Schnieder, 67, of Morrisonville was traveling east on 520 North RD at about 1140 East when a deer entered the roadway from the south and ran into the passenger side of the vehicle. The vehicle had damage to it in several areas on the passenger side.

Jesse D. Blades, age 46, of Peoria Heights Illinois, was arrested for Disorderly Conduct, Violation of Pre-Trial Release and Resisting Arrest.

Kellie Wingo, 35, of Taylorville was arrested by the Taylorville Police Department for Meth Delivery and Possession of Methamphetamine.

 

10/9/25

George Bailey, 53, of Taylorville was arrested by the Taylorville Police Department for Violation of Stalking/No Contact Order.

 

10/5/25 at 1:16 p.m.

Jeffrey Wood, 50, of Taylorville (Unit 1) and Kristen Coy, 39, of Taylorville (Unit 2)

Unit 1 was behind Unit 2 in the turn land when Unit 1 and Unit 2 were attempting to make a rand hand turn. Unit 1 struck Unit 2 in the rear bumper.

 

10/6/25 at 5:25 p.m.

Zachary Clutter, 32, of Pana (Unit 1) and Sonda Holthaus, 59, of Pana (Unit 2)

Unit 2 was stopped at IL RT 16 and approximately 2655 E waiting to navigate a left hand turn into Unit 2’s driveway. Unit 1 struck the back of Unit 2’s vehicle and the driver of Unit 1 stated that his vehicle lost its ability to break while attempting to stop.

10/05/25

 

Steven M. Frazier, age 51, of Taylorville, was arrested on a Warrant.

 

Taylorville Police arrested the following accidents:  

 

On September 28th at 10:52 AM.  Gerald L. Hogge of Taylorville was at stoplight heading east on Springfield Road/Route 29 in the right lane.  Dorothy L. Hagemeier of Nokomis was in the turning lane facing north to turn left on Route 104.  Hogge went when the light was green, than noticed a truck next to him hit the brakes.  Hogge noticed that Hagemeier was turning left onto Route 104.  The vehicles hit.  No injuries were reported but both cars were heavily damaged. 

 

On October 1st, 2025 at 11:40 AM  Ronald Peak of Springfield was parked at the Walmart in Taylorville.  He proceeded to back up and didn't see a second vehicle.  The vehicle was unoccupied but had major damage.  No injuries were reported. 

 

October 2nd, 2025 at 7:43 PM.  A minor from Auburn and Christopher Veach from Edinburg were traveling westbound on Springfield Road.  Christopher Veach was ahead of the minor and turned on their turn signal to turn right into Dairy Queen, when the minor tried to pass Veach and struck Veach on the back passenger side.  No injuries were reported.

Joshua Haines, 40, of Taylorville was arrested by the Taylorville Police Department for Aggravated Battery, Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse and Violation of Pretrial Release.

Kimberly Pizzo, 37, of Pana was arrested by the Pana Police Department for Criminal Trespass to Land and Violation of Pretrial Release.

 

10/1/25

Jack Oliver, 6, of Taylorville was arrested by the Taylorville Police Department for Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Unlawful Use of Weapon/Vehicle and Possession of Firearm FOID Revoked.

 

10/3/25

Lamyija Cotton, 22, of West, IL was arrested by the Christian County Sheriff’s Office for Speeding 35+ MPH Over Limit, No Insurance, Drive Revoked and Operate Uninsured Motor Vehicle.

 

Nicholas Simmons, 29, of Taylorville was arrested by the Taylorville Police Department for Residential Burglary and Criminal Damage to Property. 

 

 

9/23/25 at 7:55 a.m.

Jordan Goetz, 18, of Morrisonville was traveling north on IL RT 48 at 953 North. The vehicle went off the east side of the roadway when they corrected and then crossed the highway and went off the west side of the roadway. While driving in the west ditch the vehicle hit a power pole and broke the pole off. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

 

9/29/25 at 3:52 p.m.

John Rodems, 60, of Springfield was traveling northbound on 800 East Road near 2550 North Road when it veered off the road onto the passenger side. The driver corrected, returning the vehicle to the roadway, but then veered off the road onto the driver’s side, causing the truck and trailer to overturn onto its side.

 

9/29/25 at 5:00 p.m.

Dustin Dube, 31, of Springfield (Unit 1) and Matthew Branum, 47, of Edinburg (Unit 2)

Unit 1 was traveling south on 750 East Road at the intersection with 2400 North Road. Unit 2 was traveling east on 2400 North Road and at the intersection with 750 East Road. Unit 1 failed yield to the right of way to the right of Unit 2. Unit 1 hit unit 2 in the intersection while Unit 2 was pulling a trailer at the time of the crash. Unit 2’s trailer broke loose during the crash and Unit 1 overturned onto its passenger side. Unit 2 was able to get stopped in the roadway after the crash. Both vehicles were towed from the scene due to significant damage to both vehicles.
