On Tuesday the Christian County Sheriff’s Office reported the following arrests to Regional Radio News.

21 year old David Garren of Thayer was arrested on Monday for driving without a valid licence.

22 year old Taylor Desart of Taylorville was arrested on Monday for possession of drug paraphernalia.

45 year old Patrick T. McCaughn of Taylorville was arrested for driving with a suspended license.

21 year old Sierra M. Durbin of Taylorville was arrested on Monday for retail theft with bond set at $5000.

ACCIDENTS:

On January 8th at about 2:21 am the Taylorville Police Department responded to a single vehicle accident on South Spresser St. at Lincoln Land Community College. The driver, 30 year old Matthew T. Norris of Taylorville was traveling south on Spresser when he lost control of his vehicle. He left the roadway and ultimately crashed into the south building of Lincoln Land Community College, causing structural damage to the building. Norris was extricated from the vehicle and was transported to St. Johns Hospital in Springfield to be treated for injuries. The crash remains under investigation at this time.

On January 9th officers responded to a 3 vehicle accident on Rt. 29 just north of Sunset Ave. Officers arrived and were approached by a witness that stated that 67 year old Irma D. Shuff of Tower Hill was only traveling approximately 25 mph. The witness said she passed Shuff and 20 year old Ivan R. Fry of Pana must not have seen Shuff traveling slowly and struck the rear of Shuff’s vehicle. The witness said Shuff was forced into the northbound lane striking 67 year old Linda D. Tuchmann of Virginia, IL. All three ended up in the ditches on both sides of the road. Tuchmann was transported to TMH to be checked out. Shuff and Fry both refused medical treatment.
