Area Arrests And Accidents 03/15/24

The Christian County Sheriff's Office reported the following to Regional Radio News;

 

Arrests

 

3-14-24 Garry Younker, age 49, of Blue Mound was arrested by Kincaid PD for driving under the influence.

 

 

Crashes

 

3-9-24 Nickolas Schneider was traveling north at 800 N. 1250 East Rd in Johnson Township when he struck a deer in the roadway.

 

3-13-24 Douglas Theroff and Tyler Owens were involved in a traffic crash in Taylorville Township. Theroff was traveling northbound on County Highway #1 (Township Road 1250 E), and had stopped at the stop sign, with intersecting roadway Illinois Route 48. Owens was traveling eastbound on Illinois Route 48 and was approaching the intersection with County Highway #1/S. Shumway Street. (There are no traffic control signs for the eastbound and westbound traffic on IL Rte 48.) Theroff stated he stopped at the stop sign and watched two vehicles, heading west, pass through the intersection. He advised he looked both directions again, did not see any traffic coming, so he began to proceed north, across the highway. Owens stated, as he was approaching the intersection, he noticed Theroff begin to proceed. Owen advised he swerved towards the left, in an attempt to avoid being struck by Theroff. Theroff struck Owens in the intersection. All occupants refused medical treatment at the scene. Owen’s vehicle was towed from the scene.

Area Arrests And Accidents 03/11/24

The Taylorville Police Department reported the following to Regional Radio News;

Joshua L. Jones, age 48, of Taylorville was arrested for Meth Delivery.

 

Teresa D. Vaughn, age 55, of Taylorville was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance.

 

Brian Dailey, age 25, of Taylorville was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance.3/08/24
 

The Taylorville Police responded to the following vehicle accidents;

 

On February 16th at 8:23 AM at Spresser and Cheney. Bruce Kettelkamp of Taylorville was waiting in traffic at the intersection of Spresser and Cheney facing southbound.  Cassia Brookens of Owaneco was turning north onto Cheney Street from Spresser Street.  As they were making the turn, Brookens slid on the slick roadway striking Kettlekamp's vehicle.  Both vehicles were able to be driven from the scene. 

 

On February 23rd at 6:51 PM, on North Clay and West Vine Street, Connor Bilyeu of Taylorville was traveling south on North Clay Street approaching the intersection when they struck a parked vehicle.  Neither vehicle sustained disabling damage. 

 

On February 23rd at 10:56 PM, at S. Washington and West Main Cross.  Both vehicles advised they were backing up from parking spots when Chad Smith of Taylorville said he was hit.  He attempted to make contact with the driver of the other vehicle, a minor.  Smith says the minor left the area.  The minor says that Smith hit their vehicle and left the area also.  The minor went to the police station to file a report.  Smith said that he would be at TPD the next morning to file a report, but officers met at his residence to gather information and noticed some damage. 

 

On February 26th at 9:32 AM, at Route 29 and Route 104, Joy Stafford of Taylorville was traveling westbound on Route 104 and Deborah Watson of Tower Hill was also traveling westbound.  Watson attempted to change lanes and didn't see Stafford and struck their vehicle.  

 

On February 27th at 5:53 PM on Wilson and Webster, there was a two vehicle crash.  Pamela Lees of Taylorville stated that while they were facing southbound stopped at the light, a minorfailed to reduce speed and collided into the back of Lees vehicle.

3-4-24 Jarad Challans, age 38,  of Pana  was arrested by Pana PD for disorderly contact and aggravated assault.

 

 

Crashes

 

2-23-24 Desiree Henschen was traveling on US Highway 51 in Pana Township when struck deer that entered the roadway. No injuries. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

 

2-23-24 Leonard Pruitt backed out of a parking space in front of the 6th Street Market and backed into traffic and crossed the roadway. Pruitt hit a parked and unoccupied vehicle on the north side of the roadway in front of the city hall building. No injuries. No tows.

 

2-25-24 Audra Smith was traveling west on IL Route 104 near 785 E. when she struck a deer in the roadway. The vehicle was towed from the scene. No injuries.

 

3-1-24 Gregory Plattner was traveling East on 900 North Road at approximately 1575 East when he struck a deer in the roadway. No injuries. No tow.

 

3-2-24 Dan O Loughlin was traveling northwest on 2675 North Road. It is believed driver had a medical issue resulting in O Loughlin leaving the roadway to the right (North) and striking a tree. The vehicle was towed from the scene and O Loughlin was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

The Taylorville Police Department responded to the following vehicle crashes: 

 

On February 29th at 2:31 PM, on Route 48 and Shumway Street, Christal L. McClure of Harvel was traveling westbound on Route 48 and was approaching the intersection of Route 48 and was approaching the intersection of Route 48 and Shumway.  Hannah H. Felicetta of New York, New York who was traveling southbound on Shumway also approached the same intersection. Felicetta stopped but then proceeded into the intersection striking McClure's vehicle. 

 

On February 29th at 10:16 AM, Nikki R. Carls of Pana was heading north on Webster Street.  Delores M. Forbes of Taylorville was turning north on Webster Street from Wilson Street.  Carls stated she had a green light.  Forbes stated she had a green arrow to turn right.  There is no right turn arrow at that intersection.  The vehicles pulled into Esther Street.  Forbes issued a citation for failure to yield.

2-13-24 Bryan Dunn, age 41, of Harvel was arrested by Pana PD  on a Christian County Warrant for driving on suspended license.

 

2-13-24 Stephen Peck, age 49, of Taylorville, was arrested by Kincaid PD on a Christian County Warrant for domestic battery.

 

2-17-24 Brandon Roberts, age 41, of Pana was arrested by Pana PD on a Christian County Warrant for possession of meth.

 

2-17-24 Duane Garren, age 58, of Taylorville was arrested by Stonington PD for domestic battery.

 

2-19-24 Ericka More, age 33, of Pana was arrested by Pana PD for violating an order of protection.

 

 

Crashes

2-2-24 Kristopher Sanders was traveling north on 1250 E. at 150 N.  in Greenwood township when he struck a deer in the roadway. No injuries. No tow.

 

2-3-24 Dalton Pop was traveling westbound on Springfield Road and Mine Ave in Kincaid Illinois when a vehicle stopped in front of him. Pop swerved onto the shoulder to avoid a collision, left the roadway and struck the ditch embankment north of Springfield Road and Mine Ave. The vehicle was towed from the scene. No injuries.

 

2-3-24 James Wieneke was traveling east on 350 North Road when a deer entered the roadway. Wieneke was unable to avoid the deer and struck it in the roadway. The vehicle sustained damage to its driver’s side and front. Wieneke’s vehicle was driven from the scene. No injuries were reported.

 

2-5-24 Donald Dennison was traveling east on 500 North Road just east of 500 East Road when a deer struck the front of his car. No injuries. No tow.

 

2-11-24 Terri Weah was traveling in Taylorville in May Township when she backed out of the driveway on the north side of the roadway and backed into the front passenger side of parked and unoccupied vehicle on the south side of the Ladue Court. Both units were drivable. No injuries.

 

2-13-24 Ebin Bartimus was traveling west on 250 North Road. The road was gravel/rock. Bartimus failed to reduce speed, lost control and traveled into the ditch on the south side of 250 North Road. No injuries. No tow.

 

2-13-24 Joseph Dobyns was traveling south on County 6 around 1825 North and a deer ran into the roadway hitting the side of his vehicle. No injuries. No tow.

 

2-14-24 Hunter McKown was traveling east on 900 North Road. A deer ran into the roadway and McKown hit the deer. No injuries. No tow.

 

2-15-24 Bryan Shaw and Lillian Simpson were involved in a traffic crash. Shaw was traveling south on 2000 East through the intersection and was struck by Simpson traveling East on 350 North Road. Shaw did not see Simpson when he proceeded through the intersection. Both vehicles were towed from the scene and both drivers were taken to the hospital by ambulance.

 

2-16-24 Justin Bilyeu was traveling eastbound on County Highway #6, approximately 2/10 of a mile east of Township Road 2000 E. Bilyeu began to proceed over a small, concrete bridge, when he lost control on the snow covered roadway. Bilyeu struck the north side of the concrete bridge, approximately three-quarters length of the bridge to the east, with the front, driver's side area of the vehicle. The impact caused the vehicle to rotate in a counter-clockwise direction, sending Bilyeu in an easterly direction. Bilyeu then struck the guardrail, on the north side of the bridge at the east end, with the front, passenger side area. Bilyeu slid along the guardrail, causing the vehicle to rotate counter-clockwise into the north ditch, where it overturned on its driver's side, coming to rest, facing southeast. The vehicle received front end damage, driver's side damage, and damage to the driver's side rear area. Bilyeu refused medical treatment and the vehicle was towed from the scene.

 

Area Arrests And Accidents 02/13/24

The Christian County Sheriff's Office reported the following to Regional Radio News;

 

2-6-24 John Carpenter, age 41, of Nokomis was arrested by CCSO on a FTA warrant for driving on suspended license.

 

2-6-24 Kimberly Parkison and Levi Johnson were involved in a traffic crash in Taylorville township. At approximately 19:24 CCCSO was dispatched to 1653 IL Route 29 for an accident involving two vehicles. While in route, dispatch informed me one of the vehicles had left the accident scene. Upon arrival to the scene, I spoke with Levi Johnson. Johnson stated he was traveling southeast on IL Route 29 in the right lane when he rear ended a parked vehicle in the same lane (Kimberly Parkison’s vehicle). Johnson stated he could not tell if Parkinson had lights on or not. Johnson stated after he rear ended Parkison, Parkison immediately left and headed toward Taylorville, IL. It was later determined Parkison drove to Wal-Mart in Taylorville, IL. Parkison stated she was traveling southeast on IL Route 29 when she was suddenly struck from behind. Parkison stated she kept driving because she didn't know what to do. Parkison stated she stopped at Wal-Mart so the passenger could go inside and get help. There were no witnesses that remained on scene. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. No injuries.

 

2-7-24 Cassandra Talbot, age 31, of Springfield was arrested by Sangamon County on a Christian County FTA warrant for theft.

 

2-8-24 Andrew Woods, age 40, of Pana was arrested by Pana PD on a Christian County Warrant for failing to return from furlough to Department of Corrections.

 

2-10-24 Craig Reed was traveling west at 4001 Lincoln Trail in May Township when struck a deer that had entered the roadway. No injuries. No tow.

 

2-11-24 Audra Trump was traveling east on IL Route 48 in Bear Creek Township when she struck a deer at approximately 600 North. No injuries. No tow.

2/10/24

 

Jerry L. Burton, age 52, of Assumption Illinois was arrested for Violation of Sex Offender Registration and Possession of Methamphetamine.

 

Calvin L. Hayes, age 28, of Chicago Illinois was arrested for Driving While License Suspended and Driving While Registration Suspended.

 

Brandon J. Emery, age 33, of Taylorville was Aggravated Battery to a Police Officer, Domestic Battery, and Obstruction of Justice.

 

Taylorville police responded the following vehicle accidents;
 

On January 18th at 3:12 PM, A vehicle owned by Ted Ostermeier of Owaneco was parked in the parking lot of 500 North Cheney Street.  Katharine L. Dickey of Taylorville was passing through the lot and struck the front of the parked vehicle.  Dickey fled the scene and was eventually located and issued a citation for leaving the scene of the crash.  No injuries were reported.  

 

A minor was traveling south on Walnut Street on January 19th at 10:34 PM.  Unit 1 failed to stop at the T-intersection and hit the south curb on East Powell Street continuing approximately 50 feet before coming to a rest in the front yard of 122 East Powell.  One minor suffered a serious injury that required her to be taken from the scene by EMS. 

 

On January 20th at 12:28 PM, Faith Maxwell of Taylorville was parked in the driveway of 1240 Sandy Duncan Drive.  Maxwell began to back out of the driveway when the vehicle began to slide on the ice in the driveway.  Maxwell attempted to stop but was unable to and slid into Rhonda K. Beck of Taylorville on the passenger side door and passenger rear fender.  Maxwell also had significant damage.  Both units were driveable.  Both units declined medical attention.  

 

On Sunday, January 21st at 8:47 AM, TPD was radioed of a traffic accident on West Bidwell and North Webster.  Isabella G. Thomas of Taylorville was sitting in the southbound lane of North Webster and Daniel P. Ream Sr of Taylorville was pulled into the parking lot of Diamond Brothers.  Ream said he was turning onto North Webster Street for the intersection of North Webster and Springfield Road and took the corner sharp.  Police say ice covered the front windshield other than a small area. Ream was issued two citations for improper lane usage and operation of an uninsured motor vehicle. 

 

On January 22nd at 8:45 PM, Robert C. Delahunt of Taylorville executed a backing maneuver within the parking lot of 1101 North Webster Street resulting in a rear-to-rear collision with a parked vehicle. Delahunt says that he mistakenly caused the collision while attempting to shift his foot from the accelerator pedal to the brake pedal.  Snowy, icy conditions within the parking lot contributed to the collision.  A DUI investigation was conducted and was concluded that impairment due to alcohol consumption was NOT a factor.  No injuries were reported. 

 

On February 1st at 9:34 AM, Terry Campbell of Owatonna, Minnesota was backing into a loading dock when the rar hit the front of a parked truck.  No injuries were reported.

The Christian County Sheriff's Office reported the following to Regional Radio News;

 

1-31-24 Shperlin Aleksandr, age 34, of Chicago was arrested on a warrant by CCSO for driving on suspended license.

 

2-1-24 Jeremy Cole, age 43, of Springfield was arrested by Sangamon County on a Christian County warrant for unlawful possession of firearms and firearm ammunition.

 

2-2-24 Baylee Stevens, age 27, of Petersburg was arrested by Shelby County on a Christian County warrant for failure to appear.

 

2-3-24 Joseph Hadley, age 45, of Taylorville was arrested by CCSO for domestic battery.

 

2-4-24 Joshua Rhodes, age 38, of Moweaqua was arrested by CCSO for possession of meth.

 

Accidents:

 

1-17-24 Carl Chapman and Carl Hughes were involved in a traffic crash in Pana township. Chapman was traveling south on 2600 East Road when he failed to stop at the stop sign at the 250 North Road intersection. Chapman skid across the intersection and Hughes struck Chapman on the passenger side. Chapman’s vehicle overturned in the northwest ditch of the intersection. Hughes struck a utility pole and came to a stop. No injuries. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

 

1-20-24 Layney Askins and Joseph Johnson were involved in a traffic crash in Assumption township. Askins was traveling north on US 51. Johnson was traveling north on US 51. Askins turned left and struck Johnson near the passenger side rear tire. Askins had significant damage to the front of the vehicle. Johnson had functional damage to his vehicle and it was towed from the scene. No injuries.

 

1-28-24 Trenton Dawdy was traveling east on IL Route 16 at approximately 1925 East when he lost traction and entered the ditch on the north of IL RTE 16. Dawdy continued traveling east in the ditch before striking an embankment and becoming stuck. The vehicle was towed from the scene. No injuries.

 

1-31-24 Heather Smith was traveling south on 2500 East Road, about 200 feet south of 1500 North. When a deer hit her vehicle on the driver’s side door. No injuries. No tow.

Area Arrests And Accidents 1/30/24

1-29-24 Cole Montgomery, age 24, of Taylorville was arrested by CCSO for residential burglary and criminal damage to property.

 

1-29-24 Jeremy Beard, age 50, of Taylorville was arrested by CCSO for possession of methamphetamine, driving on suspended/revoked license and possession of cannabis in a motor vehicle.

 

 

Crashes

 

1-22-24 Damien King was traveling on 1200 North Road in Assumption. Due to severe icy road conditions, his vehicle slid off the roadway into a field on the south side of the road. The vehicle sustained damage, the extent of which is unknown and was able to be driven to his residence. No injuries.

 

1-26-24 Deanna Stalets and Richard Waller were involved in a traffic crash in Pana township. Stalets was in the southbound lane of US Route 51, facing northbound, getting the mail from their mailbox. Waller was traveling northbound on US Route 51 in the appropriate lane. Stalets attempted a right turn into their driveway across both lanes of traffic, did not see Waller approaching, and was struck by Waller. No injuries. No tow.

 

1-26-24 Floyd Johns was traveling east on 350 North Rd. Tracks indicate his vehicle left the roadway before the bike trail parking lot entrance. Johns vehicle collided with a an embankment, then collided with a second embankment causing the vehicle to become airborne. Johns vehicle landed on its top. The vehicle was towed from the scene. No injuries were reported.

 

1-27-24 David Eson was traveling southwest on IL Route 48 at 1026 N. IL Route 48. Eson stated two deer entered the roadway. Eson attempted to avoid hitting the deer and ran off the roadway and struck a ditch embankment on the south side of the roadway. The vehicle was towed from the scene. No injuries.

Area Arrests And Accidents 1/26/24

The Christian County Sheriff's Office reported the following to Regional Radio News;

 

Crashes

 

1-22-24 Robert Kindermann III was traveling north on 2300 East Road at about 790 North and lost control on the iced over road surface. Kindermann went off the east side of the roadway and into a deep ditch. Kindermann then hit an embankment causing the Chevrolet Suburban to turn over on the driver side when it came to rest. The front end of the vehicle was partially in the water. The vehicle was towed from the scene. No injuries.

1-17-24 Shelby Olson, age 25, of Pana was arrested by CCSO on a Body Attachment Warrant for failure to pay or appear as ordered by the court.

 

1-16-24 Justis Nichols was arrested by Morrisonville PD for domestic battery.

 

CRASHES

 

1-12-24 John Pendleton was traveling south on 600 East Road when a deer entered the roadway. Pendleton was unable to avoid striking the deer. Pendleton’s vehicle sustained damage to its front and passenger side but was able to be driven from the scene. No injuries were reported.

 

1-12-24 Alexandria Castracane was traveling north on route 48 and crossed the southbound lane and traveled into the ditch. Castracane came to a stop in the ditch. No injuries. No tow.

 

1-12-24 Jordan Brummet was traveling north on Route 51 around 75 North when a deer ran into the roadway. Brummet hit the deer causing damage to the front of the vehicle. No injuries. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

 

1-12-24 Linda Brown was traveling northeast on IL Route 48 at 965 East when she struck a deer in the roadway. No injuries. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

 

1-12-24 Joshua Contreras was traveling north on 1400 E. at 3112 N.  in Mt Auburn when he struck a deer in the roadway. No injuries. No tow.

 

1-16-24 Ernest Cox was driving a USPS van and was pulling away from mailboxes in the 300 block of S. Pine after depositing mail in them. Unit 2 was a FedEx van that pulled in behind Cox. Occupants of unit 2 were out of the vehicle to make a delivery. Cox started to back up to the mailbox's to deposit another piece of mail, not seeing unit 2 behind it. Cox struck Unit 2, causing minor damage to both vehicles. No injuries. No tows.

 

1-17-24 Patrick Butler and Benjiman DeClerck were involved in a traffic crash in Taylorville township. Butler was traveling north on 900 East Road at approximately 1550 North when it swerved into the oncoming lane. Butler sideswiped DeClerck’s mirror. No injuries. No tow.

 

1-17-24 Ryan Hammer was traveling west on 1600 N. at approximately 2680 when it left the roadway and overturned. No injuries. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

1-4-24 Ericka Moore and David Combs were involved in a traffic crash in Pana township. Moore and Combs were in the parking lot of the Bluebell Tavern. Moore was backing out of a parking spot and Combs was waiting for Moore to back out. Moore struck Combs and drove away. Both vehicles of Moore and Combs sustained cosmetic damage. Moore was unaware she hit Combs. No injuries. No tow.

The Christian County Sheriff's Office reported the following to Regional Radio News;

 

12-29-23 Karen Wilson was traveling north on 1800 East Road (County Highway 7) at about 1632 North. Wilson lost control on the icy bridge and started skidding. Wilson hit the side rail on the west side of the road and continued to skid down an embankment into a deep ditch. Wilson came to stop at the bottom of the ditch where she appeared to hit some downed trees. The vehicle was towed from the scene. No injuries.

 

1-6-24 Cory Neal was traveling east on IL-RT 104 in Taylorville township. Neal ran off the south side of the road. The vehicle made contact with the ditch embankment before coming to rest and suffered major damage on all sides. The vehicle was towed from the scene and Neal went to the hospital.

 

1-6-24 Ryan Huttes stated he was traveling westbound on 250 North Road just east of Lake Shore Drive in Pana, IL. Huttes stated he lost control of the vehicle on a hill due to snowy/slushy conditions. Huttes stated after he slid off the roadway he struck a ditch embankment and then a tree. No tow. No injuries.

 

1-7-24 Jennifer Heise was traveling east on IL Route 104 in South Fork Township when a deer ran into the road. Heise hit the deer with her front bumper, at about Summit Ave. No injuries. No tow.

1-5-24 Adam Cherry, age 40, of Rosamond was arrested by CCSO for driving on a revoked license.

 

12-25-23 Lynn Dexheimeir was traveling east on 350 N. at approximately 2150 E. when his vehicle hydroplaned, and left the roadway. Dexheimeir was able to get the vehicle back on the roadway. There was minimal visible damage done to the vehicle, however the side curtain airbags did deploy. No tow. No injuries.

 

12-28-23 Brent Getz was traveling southbound on US Route 51, attempted to make left turn eastbound onto 400 N. Road. Getz took the turn too wide and the vehicle came to rest nose-down in the ditch at the southeast corner of this intersection. No injuries. The vehicle was towed from the scene and the driver was arrested for DUI.

 

12-31-23 Mathieu Kuhns was traveling east on 1800 North Road. Kuhns stated that there was an animal that came out of the tree line on the north side of the roadway. Kuhns attempted to avoid the animal in the roadway. Kuhns maneuvered left then over-corrected right and slid into the south side ditch hitting a utility pole and coming to a stop approximately 50-75 feet past the entry into the south side ditch. The vehicle was towed from the scene. No injuries.

12/25/23 Accident:  Shannon Stine, 21, was travelling West on 1350 North approximately 1800 East Road. And second vehicle driven by Michael Rahar travelling East on 1350 North road at approximately 1800 East. Both vehicles mirrors sideswiped one another on the center line of 1350 North Road.

 

12/24/23 Accident:   Brayden Christianson, 23, was travelling Northwest on IL Route 29 just South of 800 North Road when It struck a deer crossing the roadway.  Vehicle towed from scene.

Crashes

 

12-17-23 Schuyler Wideman was traveling west on IL Route 16 at 2288 E. when it left the roadway and went into the ditch on the south side of the road. Wideman stated a deer had ran out in front of him, however he did show signs of impairment. Wideman was arrested for suspicion of under the influence of drugs. No injuries. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

 

12-19-23 Jaydin Snow and Michael Conlin were involved in a traffic crash in Locust township. Conlin was traveling northeast on IL Route 29 and was slowing down to initiate a left turn (East) onto 800 North Road. Snow was traveling northeast on IL Route 29. Snow did not slowdown in time and rear-ended Conlin. No injuries. Snow’s vehicle was towed from the scene.

 

12-20-23 Jill Hannagan was traveling South on IL Route 51 at approximately 22 North when she struck a deer in the roadway. No injuries. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Taylorville Police responded to the following vehicle accidents:

 

On December 16th at 10:59 AM, Charles P. Knecht of Taylorville and Richard R. Pounds of Taylorville were both eastbound on Park Street towards Shawnee Street.  Knecht failed to reduce speed and collided with the rear end of Pounds.  Knecht received a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. No injuries were reported. 

 

On December 17th at 5:22 PM, Brehia N. Alaria of Taylorville struck the rear of a parked vehicle while traveling north bound on Shumway Street. After striking the car, Alaria struck the fence attached to 630 West Poplar Street. No injuries were reported.

The Christian County Sheriff's Office reported the following to Regional Radio News;

12-17-23 Schuyler Wideman, age 37, of Bingham was arrested by CCSO for driving under the influence and possession of methamphetamine.

 

Crashes

12-11-23 Jeffery Hayden was traveling south on Rt. 29. Just before 800 North Road a deer ran into the roadway. Hayden hit the deer causing major damage to the front of the vehicle. No injuries. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

 

12-12-23 Kimberly Conlee was traveling east on 500 North Road, went around a curve in the roadway and lost control. Conlee ran off the roadway and overturned landing upright in the field. The vehicle was towed from the scene. Conlee was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

 

12-13-23 John Bollinger was traveling west on 1400 N Rd at approximately 2425 E. Bollinger went to pass a slower moving grey van. As he was passing the van, Bollinger thought the van was going to strike his vehicle. Bollinger entered the ditch, causing damage to the front bumper. No contact was made between the vehicles. No injuries. No tow.

 

12-15-23 Christine McCombe was traveling South on IL Route 29 when a deer entered the roadway. McCombe was unable to avoid the deer. McCombe struck the deer in the roadway and sustained damage to  the vehicles front end and had to be removed by a tow truck from the scene. No injuries were reported.

The Taylorville Police Department investigated the following police crashes:  

 

At North Cherokee and East Park Street, on December 7th at 5:20 PM. William Pulley of Taylorville struck Raymond R. Heimsness in the rear after failing to reduce speed to avoid a crash.  Pulley was transported to TMH. 

 

On November 30th at 4:48 PM at Webster and East park Street, Kyle Gordon of Stonington was facing west on West Park in the South turn lane.  Christine D. Marron of Taylorville was traveling east on Spresser Street.  Gordon failed to yield the right of way and Marron hit Gordon's vehicle.  No injuries were reported.  

 

On December 5th at 8:22 AM, on North Cheney and Nector Lane, A minor from Decatur was traveling north on Cheney Street approaching Springfield Road.  The minor slowed with traffic.  A minor from Taylorville failed to reduce speed with the slowing of traffic and struck the back of the other vehicle.  No other injuries were reported.  

 

On December 4th at 5:23 PM, Clayton D. Compton of Tower Hill stated that they were yielding to turn left from Webster onto Park Street when they noticed another vehicle traveling North on Webster had the right of way.  Compton attempted to move out of the way of the vehicle and their trailer hitch hit James L. Harbert of Pana causing a small dent.  No injuries were reported. 

Area Arrests And Accidents 12/5/23

The Christian County Sheriff's Office reported the following to Regional Radio News;

 

12-01-23 Trenton Cook was traveling west on 1900 N. near 2550 E. Road when he struck a deer in the roadway. The vehicle was towed from the scene. No injuries.

 

12-02-23 Jacobus Awe was traveling north on 1600 East Road. Awe left the roadway south of 1800 North Road and collided with a utility pole, continued north past 1800 North Road and then collided with a ditch on the East side of 1600 East RD. The vehicle was found unoccupied in the ditch and a passerby reported the crash. The vehicle was removed from the scene by towing due to heavy front end damage. Awe stated his vehicle left the roadway because he swerved to miss an animal. No injuries.

 

12-03-23 Marissa Holmes was traveling west on 1700 north in rural Taylorville, IL. Holmes ran off the roadway on the south side of the road. The driver then over corrected and went back across the road to the north ditch. When the Holmes came out of the ditch the vehicle was in a sideways skid and again hit the ditch on the south side of the road. When the vehicle hit the ditch it then rolled one time and came to rest of its top. The vehicle was towed from the scene and Holmes was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

 

12-5-23 Samantha Peters was traveling south on a gravel road in Rosamond Township. Peters was traveling too fast for the road conditions when she lost control of her vehicle. The vehicle exited the road and entered the west road ditch. The vehicle traveled down the road for a short distance before trying to turn to the left. When the vehicle turned to the left it caught the ground and rolled over one time The vehicle came to rest on it wheels. The vehicle was towed from the scene and the driver was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Taylorville Police responded to the following crash: 

 

On November 30th at Webster and East Park Street at 4:48 PM. Kyle J. Gordon of Stonington was facing west on West Park Street in the south turn lane.  Christine D. Rodderick L. Campbell, age 32, of Springfield Illinois was arrested for DUI Cannabis and Driving While License Revoked. 

 

The Taylorville Police Department investigated the following vehicle accidents:

 

A crash occurred on November 18th at 5:22 PM at West Spresser and North Webster. Juddson W. Perkins of Kincaid was traveling east on West Spresser Street, came upon the intersection at North Webster Street, and stopped as required at the traffic light.  Megan R. Goodall of Taylorville approached Perkins from the rear and failed to yield striking the bumper of their car.  Goodall was issued a citation. No injuries were reported. 

 

A crash occurred on November 22nd at 12:44 PM on Main Cross and Madison Avenue.  Sophia M. Wade of Stonington was heading north on Madison and disobeyed the yield sign at the intersection with Main Cross.  Robert E. DeClerck of Taylorville was heading west on Main Cross. Wade was struck by DeClerck as they crossed Main Cross Street.  Wade was issued a citation.  No injuries were reported.  

 

A crash occurred on November 26th at 12:47 PM on North Cheney and West Pauline.  Matthew J. Mosely of Pana was driving a vehicle owned by the USPS.  Kevin L. Brookens of Taylorville says he saw the postal van stopped and went to go around it and the van turned into him.  Mosely stated he was alongside the road and then went to make a westward turn onto West Pauline and didn’t see Brookens.  No injuries were reported.  

 

A crash occurred on November 29th at 1:18 PM at Main Cross and Shumway.  Multiple reports came out on what happened with the crash but Jody Hodson of Taylorville stopped at the stop sign and proceeded into the intersection.  Jayme E. Hardin yielded at the stop sign and proceeded with Hodson still in the intersection striking in the rear passenger side.  A separate witness said that Hardin stopped at the stop sign and proceeded into the intersection striking Hodson.  Hardin failed to stay at the location of the crash and was issued a citation.  

 

A crash occurred on November 29th, 2023 at 6:14 PM at West Main Cross and Shumway.  A two-vehicle accident took place when two vehicles were stopped at a 4-way intersection and waiting for a vehicle in front of Sarah D. McNeely of Taylorville to go through the intersection.  After the intersection was clear, Whitney McCalister of Taylorville proceeded eastbound. McCalister proceeded eastbound on Main Cross.  McNeely proceeded to turn right heading eastbound after heading northbound on Shumway Street.  McNeely was issued a citation.  No injuries were reported. 

 

A crash occurred on November 28th at 3:09 PM at Webster and Market Streets. Jeremy Alwerdt of Taylorville was traveling south on Webster Street and Daryll M. Beaman of Taylorville was traveling west on Market Street. Alwerdt dropped something and was trying to get it from the floorboard and didn’t see the four-way intersection. Beaman had already stopped at the stop sign and had entered the intersection when Alwerdt struck Beaman.  Beaman’s passenger reported minor injuries.

11-29-23 Jacob Mundell was traveling west on 350 North Road when a deer entered the roadway. Mundell was unable to avoid the deer and struck it in the roadway causing damage to the vehicle's front end. The vehicle was towed from the scene. No injuries were reported.

 

11-29-23 Diane King was traveling eastbound on Langleyville Road in Taylorville township when a deer struck the vehicle on the driver's side. No injuries. No tow.

 

11-29-23 Jared Stuemke was traveling west on IL Route 104 in South Fork township when a deer entered the roadway. Stuemke struck the deer with the front end of the vehicle. No injuries. No tow.

Area Arrests And Accidents 11/27/23

The Christian County Sheriff's Office reported the following to Regional Radio News;

 

11-21-23 Antonio Aikens was traveling northeast on IL Route 48 when he lost control of the vehicle, and ran off the roadway striking a tree. Aikens deflected off the tree, and came to rest against a second tree. Aikens was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

 

11-22-23 Jeff Daugherty and Robert Jefferson were involved in a traffic crash in Stonington township. Daugherty was traveling southwest on IL Route 48 at 2300 N. Jefferson was traveling northeast on IL Route 48 at 2300 N. Daugherty stated he had fallen asleep, and went into Jefferson’s lane and struck the trailer Jefferson was pulling, damaging a rear axle. Daugherty’s vehicle was towed from the scene. No injuries.

 

11-22-23 Shaina Daniel was traveling northwest on IL Route 29 at 1847 N. when she struck a deer in the roadway. No injuries. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

 

11-23-23 Lane Whitney was traveling east on 1900 North Road at approximately 2600 East  Road when he struck a deer. No injuries. No tow.

 

11-23-23 Larry Upton was northbound on 600 E. at 1400 N. when his vehicle was struck by a deer that ran in the roadway. No injuries. No tow.

 

11-24-23 Harry Miller was traveling northbound on 1800 East Road when a deer ran across the roadway and struck a deer in the middle of the roadway. No injuries. No tow.

 

11-25-23 Christopher Nelson was traveling northeast on Illinois Route 48. Nelson stated that he fell asleep, went off the roadway and lost control of the vehicle. Nelson rolled twice in the south ditch and had minor scratches on his hands. Nelson did not want medical attention. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Taylorville Police responded to the following vehicle accidents: 

 

November 20th at 7:37 AM near Webster and Spresser Street.  Ian M. Kirkendoll of Taylorville was traveling north on Webster Street.  Amy B. Wolt of Pawnee was traveling south on Webster turning to travel east on West Park Street.  Wolt failed to yield before turning onto West Park Street and was struck by Kirkendoll.  No injuries were reported. 

 

November 21st at 4:06 PM near Jayne's Park.  TPD received a call about a white vehicle driving inside of Jayne's Park.  When officers arrived they found a vehicle disabled in the grass after striking a tree.  The driver, Levi J. Dunaway of Taylorville was having a medical emergency and was transported from the scene by ambulance. 

 

On November 6th at 12:41 PM at Springfield and Cheney.  Alvin W. Abbott of Taylorville and Austin M. Rule of Kincaid were traveling east on Springfield Road.  Rule slowed at the light to turn onto Cheney Street.  Abbott failed to reduce speed to avoid hitting Rule.  No injuries were reported.
