Area Arrests/Accidents 6/22/17

On Thursday, the Taylorville Police Department reported the following arrest to Regional Radio News:

 

21-year-old Anthony D. Benavides of Taylorville was arrested Wednesday on a Christian County Bond Forfeiture warrant. Bond is set at $20,000.

 

On Thursday, the Pana Police Department reported the following arrest to Regional Radio News:

 

After a traffic stop at Kitchell and 2nd, 29-year-old Sarah K. Cushing of Pana was cited Friday for Disobeying a Stop Sign.

 

25-year-old David W. Moore, Jr. of Pana was arrested for multiple counts of Aggravated Battery, Threatening Public Officials, Resisting a Peace Officer, and Criminal Trespass to Property. Additional charges may be filed pending investigation.

 

On Thursday, the Pana Police Department reported the following accidents to Regional Radio News:

 

A 16-year-old male reported Friday that his car had been struck by another vehicle while parked at Kitchell Park. The case is under investigation.

 

30-year-old Luke J. McQuillan of Pana was exiting the Walmart parking lot at the east entrance on Friday. 27-year-old Jared J. Witt of Pana was following a vehicle west on 2nd Street approaching the Walmart entrance. The vehicle in front of Witt turned into Walmart and McQuillan did not see Witt behind the vehicle and pulled out in front of Witt who was continuing West on 2nd Street.

 

81-year-old Samuel A. McClure of Pana was stopped behind 49-year-old John W. Fleet of Nokomis in the Walgreens drive-thru on Tuesday. McClure said his foot came off the brake causing his vehicle to rear-end Fleet’s. Both cars had minor damage.

29-year-old Jesse W. Mollet of Kincaid was arrested Wednesday for Driving with a Suspended License. No bond has been set.

 

27-year-old Robert C. Stiltz of Springfield was arrested on a Bond Forfeiture warrant. Bond is set at $2,500

 

26-year-old Logan A. Snow of Taylorville was arrested Wednesday on a Bond Forfeiture warrant. Bond is set at $3,000.

38-year-old Nathan Howell of Taylorville was arrested Monday for Public Intoxication.

 

21-year-old Dylan M. Weber of Taylorville was arrested Tuesday on a Christian County Bond Forfeiture warrant.

 

On Wednesday, the Taylorville Police Department reported the following accident to Regional Radio News:

 

47-year-old Joseph G. Beishir of Edinburg was driving westbound on West Prairie when he drove into the yard and struck a fence in the 1100 block. He drove around the block, came back and stopped in the roadway to look at the damage. A witness heard the noise from the crash down the street and drove his vehicle in front of Unit 1 making Beishir stay on scene until officers arrived.

 

On Wednesday, the Christian County Sheriff’s Office reported the following accident to Regional Radio News:

 

18-year-old Grace E. Goddard of Pana was driving westbound on 250 N. Road Friday and 19-year-old Ragen R. Riddle was driving eastbound on the same road. A witness was that was closely following Riddle said as they came to the crest on the hill, Goddard was on Riddle’s side of the roadway. The witness said Riddle tried to get off the roadway as much as possible but was unable to avoid Goddard. Skid marks show that Riddle was halfway off the roadway when she was hit. A passenger with Riddle was taken to Pana Community Hospital for injuries.

70-year-old John B. Mann of Edinburg was driving southbound on State Street and stopped at 2nd. 50-year-old Rebecca S. Mahnke of Shelbyville was westbound on 2nd approaching State. Mann turned left onto 2nd and hit Mahnke. Mann said he saw Mahnke but he thought he had time to make the turn. Mann was cited for Failing to Yield at an Intersection.

25-year-old David W. Moore of Pana was arrested Sunday for Aggravated Battery, Resisting / Obstructing an Officer, Aggravated Battery of a Handicap Person, Criminal Trespassing to Land, and Threatening a Public Official. Bond is set at $15,000.

 

On Monday, the Christian County Sheriff’s Office reported the following accidents to Regional Radio News:

 

47-year-old Joseph G. Beishir of Edinburg was driving eastbound on Township Road 2050 North. A witness says Beishir drove off the roadway, through the ditch and struck a fence, damaging the fence. He then made his way back onto the road, and continued east until the intersection with Illinois Route 29. The witness said Beishir then turned soutbound and sped away at a high rate of speed. Beishir was lated arrested by Taylorville Police.

 

22-year-old Kyle A Koehne of Kincaid was driving northbound on County Highway 5 (700 East). At approximately 2050 North, he went off the roadway on the east side and traveled about 50 yards until he hit a ditch. He then overturned and landed on his wheels. When the Christian County Sheriff’s Office received a call about the crash, Koehne was not on scene. When deputies arrived on scene, Koehne was dropped off at the scene. Koehne was arrested for DUI.

21-year-old Tanner M. Demascal of Assumption was arrested Wednesday for No Valid Drivers License.

 

On Thursday, the Pana Police Department reported the following arrest and incidents to Regional Radio News:

 

A city ordinance violation was issued Monday against 70-year-old Laura L. Rochkes of Pana for having an unsafe structure at 910 East Jackson Street.

 

A complainant reported the theft of a wallet containing approximately $300 Monday. The wallet is believed to have been taken from the inside of an unlocked car in the 500 block of East 3rd Street.

 

A complainant reported on Tuesday that a fraud had occurred. The person said they were sent a check that they later learned to be fraudulent after it was deposited.

 

33-year-old Jacob O. Banning of Pana was arrested Tuesday for Domestic Battery.

 

After an incident in the 700 block of East Jackson, an investigation is ongoing against possible criminal damage to property and intimidating. A 28-year-old male could face charges.

 

A complainant reported damage to his hot tub and a 1997 Harley Davidson. The damage occurred sometime between early May and June 11th in the 200 block of South State.

35-year-old Jesse A. Vail of Taylorville was arrested Friday for Driving with No Valid License and Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle.

 

24-year-old Jeremy T. Emery of Taylorville was arrested Sunday for Driving with No Valid License.

 

On Monday, the Taylorville Police Department reported the following accidents to Regional Radio News:

 

Kelly R. Mann of Taylorville reported that her car was struck by an unknown vehicle while it was parked on the 300 block of E. Adams Street in Taylorville. She says the incident occured between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Wednesday.

 

60-year-old Rondal J. Hoover of Taylorville was stopped at the intersection of Webster and Spresser heading eastbound Thursday. Seeing the car in the left turn lane was moving, he started moving forward and rear-ended 70-year-old Gallen J. Johnson of Pawnee. No one was injured.

 

39-year-old Josh P. Newberry of Taylorville was driving westbound on Spresser approaching the intersection with Cheney Street. 38-year-old Steven M. Jordan of Taylorville was driving eastbound on Spresser and had a green light. Newberry failed to yield for Jordan as he turned left and hit the driver’s side of Jordan’s car. Jordan was taken to Taylorville Memorial Hospital. Newberry was cited for Failure to Yield Turning Left and for Operating an Uninsured Vehicle.

The Pana Police Department is investigating the theft of an undisclosed amount of money from the First National Bank in Pana. The incident occurred in the past two months. Possible theft charges are possible against 27-year-old Audrie L. Leach of Oconee, following review from the State’s Attorney’s Office.

46-year-old Heath D. Strom of Pana was driving southbound on Fair Avenue preparing to make a left turn onto 6th Street when a 16-year-old could not stop his car and rear-ended Strom. No one was hurt.

 

25-year-old Benjamin R. Phillips of Maroa was backing a trailer into the water at Pana Lake from a boat ramp when he lost control of the vehicle. It crashed into the water and sunk.

On Monday, the Christian County Sheriff’s Office reported the following accidents to Regional Radio News:

 

57-year-old Cynthia A. Lancaster of O’Fallon, Missouri was driving southbound on Illinois Route 48 on June 1st. 18-year-old Coltin L. Watson of Morrisonville was driving northbound on Illinois Route 48. Watson says Lancaster was crossing the center line into his lane of traffic. He swerved off the roadway to avoid the collision, but Lancaster continued crossing the center line and hit Watson head-on. Both drivers were taken to Taylorville Memorial Hospital by ambulance. Lancaster was issued a citation for improper lane usage.

 

60-year-old Deborah L Craig of Moweaqua was driving eastbound on County Road 6 Thursday behind a tractor driven by 36-year-old Nathan A. Perry of Taylorville. Perry was attempting to turn left onto County Road 7 while Craig attempted to pass the tractor. Craig did not see Perry’s turn signal on and she hit the left front tire of the tractor. No one was hurt.

 

28-year-old Dustin R. Cline of Palmer was driving southbound on County Highway 5 on Saturday when he failed to reduce speed to make a curve and struck a stop sign and street sign. He then crossed the ditch and came to rest in the lawn of the Bear Creek Township Building. He refused medical treatment.

23-year-old Rebecca E. Scott of Taylorville reported that she struck the car of Thomas W. Prehn Jr. of Herrick while backing out of her driveway. She was not hurt. The car was unoccupied and she attempted to locate the owner but was unsuccessful. She says she was late for work and called to report the accident on her way to work. Later, she could not provide proof of insurance and was cited.

 

25-year-old Franklin L. Boyd of Park Hills, MO was driving eastbound on East Park Street. He attempted to turn right onto North Cherokee, and hit the stop light post while making that turn. He was not hurt.

On Wednesday, the Christian County Sheriff’s Office reported the following accidents to Regional Radio News:

 

37-year-old Shawn R. Keathley of Pana was driving northbound on County Road 2200 East Wednesday, and as he approached the intersection of 00 North, he did not stop at the end of the intersection, crossed the road and went into the ditch on the opposite side of the intersection. He was taken to Pana Community Hospital, and his car received front end damage.

 

20-year-old Sarah R. McKay of Taylorville was driving southbound on Route 29 Monday, approximately a half mile north of 1800 N. Road when a deer ran into the roadway. McKay was unable to avoid the deer, but she was not injured.

 

46-year-old Kimberly Hart of Edinburg was driving southbound on 625 East Sunday when at approximately 2150 North, a deer came into the roadway. She swerved to avoid the deer and ran into the embankment on the east side of the road. The vehicle hit the embankment and turned on its side. She was not injured, but her car had to be towed from the scene.

A complainant reported the theft of a jackhammer, two air compressors, and a chainsaw from her garage in the 400 block of East Second Street on Wednesday evening. The case is under investigation.

 

A complainant reported the theft of two firearms from his residence in the 800 block of East Sixth Street on Thursday. The case is under investigation.

 

A complainant reported the theft of his wallet from his unlocked vehicle in the 200 block of East First Street on Thursday. The case is under investigation.

 

43-year-old Donald M. Barrish of Pana was arrested Friday on a Bond Forfeiture warrant. Bond is set at $2,500.

 

43-year-old Tyrone A. Powyszynski was arrested Friday in connection to trespassing and property damage in the 400 block of Clay Street.

 

An altercation was reported between a 24-year-old male and a 17-year-old male in the 200 block of East First Street on Friday. Possible battery charges could be filed pending further investigation.

 

A complainant reported the theft of a 2005 Club Car brand golf cart from his yard in the 100 block of Michaels Street sometime between May 24th and Saturday. The cart is valued at $2,500. The case is under investigation.

 

A complainant reported the theft of a 2001 Artic Cat 250 four wheeler in the 700 block of West Orange Street sometime between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. on Saturday. The case is under investigation.

He pulled into the roadway on Route 29, not seeing the ambulance driven by Richard A. Moon of Lakewood and t-boning the ambulance. No one sought medical treatment from the accident.

 

21-year-old Chandler D. Bollman of Philo was driving westbound on Route 29 Sunday, approaching the intersection with Bidwell. 31-year-old Joseph P. Lybarger of Taylorville was stopped on Bidwell at Route 29 and turned right onto Route 29 in front of Bollman. Lybarger immediately stopped to attempt to turn on to Taft when Bollman did not stop, rear-ending Lybarger. No one was hurt.

 

69-year-old Judith K. Kaydus was driving southbound behind 56-year-old Todd J. Beaty on Sunday on Lincoln Trail, and both cars were attempt to turn right onto E. Park Street. Kaydus says she thought Beaty had turned and started to turn herself when she rear-ended Beaty. No one was hurt.

 

Sarah Norris of Taylorville was coming out of Taco Bell Sunday when she noticed there was a dent and scuff mark on the passenger side quarter panel of her car. She reported the incident to Taylorville Police.

38-year-old David A. Malone of Mt. Auburn was driving eastbound on County Highway 2 Sunday when he lost control of his vehicle close to 1025 East. He entered the north ditch, traveled about 100 feet in the ditch before striking an embankment and becoming airborne. He landed approximately 50 feet away facing north.

24-year-old Ciara C. Wagoner of Taylorville was driving eastbound on Route 29 Thursday afternoon and was approaching the intersection with Cheney Street. 19-year-old Tea R Landsverk was stopped at a red light at the intersection when Wagoner rear-ended her. All parties refused medical treatment on-scene. Wagoner was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

On Tuesday the Taylorville Police Department reported the following accidents to Regional Radio News.

 

On May 22, 2017 at 6:44 pm, the Taylorville Police Department, along with the Taylorville Fire Department and the Christian County Sheriff’s Office, responded to a two vehicle accident on Route 29 and 1600 North Road. The accident involved a passenger vehicle and an ambulance from Pana that was transporting a subject to Springfield for treatment. After officers arrived on scene, the ambulance was allowed to continue with its patient to Springfield. The driver of the passenger vehicle, 59 Ronald Holsopple, was treated on scene. Holspopple was later charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, and was cited for failure to yield in regards to the accident.

Spresser Street, when she says she encountered loose rock on the roadway, which caused her to lose control of her vehicle. She spun into oncoming traffic and struck the opposite guardrail. She continued to spin and finally stopped after striking the concrete embankment for the railroad overpass. Jennings and her passenger refused medical treatment.

53-year-old Randall R. Mundell of Decatur was arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Driving while License Suspended, Improper Lane Usage, Possession of Cannabis, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was also arrested on a Bond Forfeiture warrant. Bond is set at $5,000.


On Monday, the Pana Police Department reported the following accidents to Regional Radio News:


66-year-old Robert W. Hudson of Nokomis was driving on Jackson Street when he rear-ended the car of 58-year-old Clark D. Amling of Pana. Hudson’s car had no apparent damage, while Amling’s car had minor damage.


21-year-old Cerra J. Kulinski of Pana was driving on McDonald’s Drive when she rear-ended the car of 34-year-old Trent A. Karnes of Pana. Kulinski’s car had no apparent damage, while Karnes car had minor damage.

29-year-old Nicholas D.R. Rabideau of Springfield was driving eastbound on Park Street in Kincaid when he crossed into the other lane, left the road and hit a power pole and stuck in a ditch. He attempted to leave the scene, but was located about 500 feet from the accident site.


66-year-old David P. Tucker of Taylorville was backing out of the driveway at 1206 Mark Lane. 34-year-old Emily F. Franklin of Taylorville was backing out of her driveway across the street. The two backed into each other in the roadway. No injuries were reported.

68-year-old Mary E. Godman of Taylorville was at the intersection of Route 29 and Lake Drive when she rear-ended the car of 58-year-old Jody R. Ruddock. No one was injured.

63-year-old Linda G. Whitlow of Taylorville was driving northbound on Route 48 just past 965 East Road on April 25th when three deer ran into the road. Deer one struck her windshield, while deer two struck the driver’s side front and rear door. She was able to drive away from the scene.


25-year-old Brittany L. Tapp of Centralia was driving southbound on U.S. Highway 51 near 50 north when a deer ran into the road. She struck the deer with the front driver’s side of the vehicle. She was able to drive away from the scene.

41-year-old Tracy J. Kennedy of Taylorville was arrested Wednesday for Possession of Controlled Substances. Bond is set at $5,000.


20-year-old Lindsey M. Middleton was arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Illegal Transportation of Alcohol, Improper Lane Usage, and Operating an Uninsured Vehicle. She resisted during the arrest, and later hit her head on the block wall in the department holding cell. She was transported to Taylorville Memorial Hospital.

28-year-old Jesse W. Demascal of Pana was arrested Monday for Battery.


17-year-old Quinton Morrissey of Pana was arrested Monday for Aggravated Battery.

A purse was reportedly stolen from the residence at 702 Lincoln in Pana on Wednesday. The purse was found later the same day.

Dean was then arrested for DUI, Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Injuries, Illegal Transportation of Alcohol, Improper Lane Usage, and Failure to Reduce Speed to avoid an Accident. Dean was also issued citations for cannabis possession less than 10 grams and drug paraphernalia possession.

63-year-old Kevin L. Miller was driving westbound on East Park Street near Cheyenne around 3:10 p.m. when according to witnesses, he appeared to hydroplane and went into the eastbound lane, hitting 56-year-old Malisa A. Brinson head-on. Both were transported to the hospital VIA ambulance.

 

27-year-old Nicole R. Ayers was driving westbound on Park Street on May 3rd around 4 p.m. when she says she could not slow down due to wet pavement. She rear-ended 27-year-old Thomas W. Barnard near the intersection with Shawnee Street. Barnard was transported to the hospital with chest and neck pains. Ayers sought treatment on her own.

 

18-year-old Dalton Q. Lingl of Taylorville was driving west on West Main Cross on May 3rd, where Lingl say he cut the corner at Jaynes Street short and struck 18-year-old Evan M. Hogge, who was traveling northbound on Jaynes Street. Lingl was cited for improper lane usage.


74-year-old Carolyn S. Bertinetti was driving northbound on N. Silver Street and stopped at the intersection with W. Spresser on Friday around 8:15 a.m.. Bertinetti says she did not see the car of 43-year-old April L. Buzzard coming, and pulled out into the intersection, where Buzzard struck Bertinetti. Bertinetti and her passengers were transported to Taylorville Memorial Hospital VIA ambulance. Buzzard was not injured.

On Wednesday, the homeowner at 1207 Brantley Road called in to report damage to the property, saying part of the culvert in the road was laying in his yard.. 38-year-old Heather L. Davidson says she knew she had hit the culvert but did not think he needed to be reported.


20-year-old Matthew R. Emerson was driving a 1999 Infiniti Sedan northbound on 1000 E. Road. At 170 north, he went off the roadway because there was water and mud on the roadway, causing him to leave the road. The car hit the ditch at the creek and then went into the creek.
