Shelby County Sheriff's Office Incidents 6/11 thru 6/27/17

6/11/17 Moweaqua 10:00pm

Terina J. Green, 44, of Decatur was cited for driving with a suspended drivers license.  She was taken to the Dentention Center for booking and later released after posting bond.

 

6/10/17 Lakewood 8:00pm

Zolee D. Foor, 18, of Shelbyville, was issued a citation for speeding 96 mph in a 55 mph zone on CR1500E at CR825N.

 

6/12/17 Strasburg 10:00pm

A 16-year-old female from Shelby County was issued a citation for speeding 111 mph in a 55 zone as she was driving south on Route 32 near CR1200N.  She was released to her parents after being issued the citation.

 

6/18/17  City of Windsor 12:00 Midnight

During an incident investigated by Deputies in Windsor, Anthony C. Willoughby, 28 of Humboldt, was arrested and incarcerated on charges of battery and unlawful restraint.  It was alleged he prevented a juvenile female from leaving an apartment in Windsor.

 

6/27/17 Big Springs Township 6:00pm

During a traffic stop for speeding on CR750N at CR975E Cody Welton, 31, of Cowden, was found to be in possession of cannabis in excess of 10 grams but less than 10.  He was incarcerated in the Detention Center.

45-year-old Melissa D. Krouse of Taylorville was arrested Thursday for Driving with No Valid Driver’s License.

 

54-year-old Randy L. Sparling of Springfield was arrested Thursday for Residential Burglary and Criminal Damage to Property. No bond has been set.

 

On Friday, the Christian County Sheriff’s Office reported the following accident to Regional Radio News:

 

18-year-old Kaylee R. Richards of Edinburg was driving southbound on 800 East Road, approximately ¼ of a mile south of 2000 North Road. She said that she drove off the road on the east side and overcorrected, causing her vehicle to travel across the roadway and overturn. The driver had minor injuries and was transported to Taylorville Memorial Hospital.

21-year-old Anthony D. Benavides of Taylorville was arrested Wednesday on a Christian County Bond Forfeiture warrant. Bond is set at $20,000.

 

On Thursday, the Pana Police Department reported the following arrest to Regional Radio News:

 

After a traffic stop at Kitchell and 2nd, 29-year-old Sarah K. Cushing of Pana was cited Friday for Disobeying a Stop Sign.

 

25-year-old David W. Moore, Jr. of Pana was arrested for multiple counts of Aggravated Battery, Threatening Public Officials, Resisting a Peace Officer, and Criminal Trespass to Property. Additional charges may be filed pending investigation.

 

On Thursday, the Pana Police Department reported the following accidents to Regional Radio News:

 

A 16-year-old male reported Friday that his car had been struck by another vehicle while parked at Kitchell Park. The case is under investigation.

 

30-year-old Luke J. McQuillan of Pana was exiting the Walmart parking lot at the east entrance on Friday. 27-year-old Jared J. Witt of Pana was following a vehicle west on 2nd Street approaching the Walmart entrance. The vehicle in front of Witt turned into Walmart and McQuillan did not see Witt behind the vehicle and pulled out in front of Witt who was continuing West on 2nd Street.

 

81-year-old Samuel A. McClure of Pana was stopped behind 49-year-old John W. Fleet of Nokomis in the Walgreens drive-thru on Tuesday. McClure said his foot came off the brake causing his vehicle to rear-end Fleet’s. Both cars had minor damage.

On Wednesday, the Taylorville Police Department reported the following accident to Regional Radio News:

 

47-year-old Joseph G. Beishir of Edinburg was driving westbound on West Prairie when he drove into the yard and struck a fence in the 1100 block. He drove around the block, came back and stopped in the roadway to look at the damage. A witness heard the noise from the crash down the street and drove his vehicle in front of Unit 1 making Beishir stay on scene until officers arrived.

 

On Wednesday, the Christian County Sheriff’s Office reported the following accident to Regional Radio News:

 

18-year-old Grace E. Goddard of Pana was driving westbound on 250 N. Road Friday and 19-year-old Ragen R. Riddle was driving eastbound on the same road. A witness was that was closely following Riddle said as they came to the crest on the hill, Goddard was on Riddle’s side of the roadway. The witness said Riddle tried to get off the roadway as much as possible but was unable to avoid Goddard. Skid marks show that Riddle was halfway off the roadway when she was hit. A passenger with Riddle was taken to Pana Community Hospital for injuries.

70-year-old John B. Mann of Edinburg was driving southbound on State Street and stopped at 2nd. 50-year-old Rebecca S. Mahnke of Shelbyville was westbound on 2nd approaching State. Mann turned left onto 2nd and hit Mahnke. Mann said he saw Mahnke but he thought he had time to make the turn. Mann was cited for Failing to Yield at an Intersection.

25-year-old David W. Moore of Pana was arrested Sunday for Aggravated Battery, Resisting / Obstructing an Officer, Aggravated Battery of a Handicap Person, Criminal Trespassing to Land, and Threatening a Public Official. Bond is set at $15,000.

 

On Monday, the Christian County Sheriff’s Office reported the following accidents to Regional Radio News:

 

47-year-old Joseph G. Beishir of Edinburg was driving eastbound on Township Road 2050 North. A witness says Beishir drove off the roadway, through the ditch and struck a fence, damaging the fence. He then made his way back onto the road, and continued east until the intersection with Illinois Route 29. The witness said Beishir then turned soutbound and sped away at a high rate of speed. Beishir was lated arrested by Taylorville Police.

 

22-year-old Kyle A Koehne of Kincaid was driving northbound on County Highway 5 (700 East). At approximately 2050 North, he went off the roadway on the east side and traveled about 50 yards until he hit a ditch. He then overturned and landed on his wheels. When the Christian County Sheriff’s Office received a call about the crash, Koehne was not on scene. When deputies arrived on scene, Koehne was dropped off at the scene. Koehne was arrested for DUI.

21-year-old David M. Gardner of Taylorville was pulling out of the McDonald’s parking lot Tuesday and did not look to see 17-year-old Alexis K. Strain coming westbound on Spresser. Strain t-boned Gardener, and Strain was taken to Taylorville Memorial Hospital via ambulance.

33-year-old Dennis J. Wood of Taylorville was arrested Wednesday for DUI, No Valid Drivers License, and Obstructing Identification.

 

21-year-old Tanner M. Demascal of Assumption was arrested Wednesday for No Valid Drivers License.

 

On Thursday, the Pana Police Department reported the following arrest and incidents to Regional Radio News:

 

A city ordinance violation was issued Monday against 70-year-old Laura L. Rochkes of Pana for having an unsafe structure at 910 East Jackson Street.

 

A complainant reported the theft of a wallet containing approximately $300 Monday. The wallet is believed to have been taken from the inside of an unlocked car in the 500 block of East 3rd Street.

 

A complainant reported on Tuesday that a fraud had occurred. The person said they were sent a check that they later learned to be fraudulent after it was deposited.

 

33-year-old Jacob O. Banning of Pana was arrested Tuesday for Domestic Battery.

 

After an incident in the 700 block of East Jackson, an investigation is ongoing against possible criminal damage to property and intimidating. A 28-year-old male could face charges.

 

A complainant reported damage to his hot tub and a 1997 Harley Davidson. The damage occurred sometime between early May and June 11th in the 200 block of South State.

Kelly R. Mann of Taylorville reported that her car was struck by an unknown vehicle while it was parked on the 300 block of E. Adams Street in Taylorville. She says the incident occured between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Wednesday.

 

60-year-old Rondal J. Hoover of Taylorville was stopped at the intersection of Webster and Spresser heading eastbound Thursday. Seeing the car in the left turn lane was moving, he started moving forward and rear-ended 70-year-old Gallen J. Johnson of Pawnee. No one was injured.

 

39-year-old Josh P. Newberry of Taylorville was driving westbound on Spresser approaching the intersection with Cheney Street. 38-year-old Steven M. Jordan of Taylorville was driving eastbound on Spresser and had a green light. Newberry failed to yield for Jordan as he turned left and hit the driver’s side of Jordan’s car. Jordan was taken to Taylorville Memorial Hospital. Newberry was cited for Failure to Yield Turning Left and for Operating an Uninsured Vehicle.

The Pana Police Department is investigating the theft of an undisclosed amount of money from the First National Bank in Pana. The incident occurred in the past two months. Possible theft charges are possible against 27-year-old Audrie L. Leach of Oconee, following review from the State’s Attorney’s Office.

46-year-old Heath D. Strom of Pana was driving southbound on Fair Avenue preparing to make a left turn onto 6th Street when a 16-year-old could not stop his car and rear-ended Strom. No one was hurt.

 

25-year-old Benjamin R. Phillips of Maroa was backing a trailer into the water at Pana Lake from a boat ramp when he lost control of the vehicle. It crashed into the water and sunk.

On Monday, the Christian County Sheriff’s Office reported the following accidents to Regional Radio News:

 

57-year-old Cynthia A. Lancaster of O’Fallon, Missouri was driving southbound on Illinois Route 48 on June 1st. 18-year-old Coltin L. Watson of Morrisonville was driving northbound on Illinois Route 48. Watson says Lancaster was crossing the center line into his lane of traffic. He swerved off the roadway to avoid the collision, but Lancaster continued crossing the center line and hit Watson head-on. Both drivers were taken to Taylorville Memorial Hospital by ambulance. Lancaster was issued a citation for improper lane usage.

 

60-year-old Deborah L Craig of Moweaqua was driving eastbound on County Road 6 Thursday behind a tractor driven by 36-year-old Nathan A. Perry of Taylorville. Perry was attempting to turn left onto County Road 7 while Craig attempted to pass the tractor. Craig did not see Perry’s turn signal on and she hit the left front tire of the tractor. No one was hurt.

 

28-year-old Dustin R. Cline of Palmer was driving southbound on County Highway 5 on Saturday when he failed to reduce speed to make a curve and struck a stop sign and street sign. He then crossed the ditch and came to rest in the lawn of the Bear Creek Township Building. He refused medical treatment.

31-year-old Nathan A. Hapner and 41-year-old Holly M. Hall were both arrested Wednesday for Theft over $300 and Possession of Controlled Substances. No bond has been set for Hapner or Hall.

 

On Thursday, the Taylorville Police Department reported the following accident to Regional Radio News:

 

23-year-old Rebecca E. Scott of Taylorville reported that she struck the car of Thomas W. Prehn Jr. of Herrick while backing out of her driveway. She was not hurt. The car was unoccupied and she attempted to locate the owner but was unsuccessful. She says she was late for work and called to report the accident on her way to work. Later, she could not provide proof of insurance and was cited.

 

25-year-old Franklin L. Boyd of Park Hills, MO was driving eastbound on East Park Street. He attempted to turn right onto North Cherokee, and hit the stop light post while making that turn. He was not hurt.

On Wednesday, the Christian County Sheriff’s Office reported the following accidents to Regional Radio News:

 

37-year-old Shawn R. Keathley of Pana was driving northbound on County Road 2200 East Wednesday, and as he approached the intersection of 00 North, he did not stop at the end of the intersection, crossed the road and went into the ditch on the opposite side of the intersection. He was taken to Pana Community Hospital, and his car received front end damage.

 

20-year-old Sarah R. McKay of Taylorville was driving southbound on Route 29 Monday, approximately a half mile north of 1800 N. Road when a deer ran into the roadway. McKay was unable to avoid the deer, but she was not injured.

 

46-year-old Kimberly Hart of Edinburg was driving southbound on 625 East Sunday when at approximately 2150 North, a deer came into the roadway. She swerved to avoid the deer and ran into the embankment on the east side of the road. The vehicle hit the embankment and turned on its side. She was not injured, but her car had to be towed from the scene.

57-year-old Jeffrey A. Fleming of Taylorville was arrested Sunday on a Christian County Bond Forfeiture warrant and Driving while License Revoked. Bond is set at $5,000.

 

28-year-old Mason J. Millburg of Taylorville was arrested Sunday on a Christian County Bond Forfeiture warrant. Bond is set at $2,500.

 

On Monday, the Pana Police Department reported the following arrests and incidents to Regional Radio News:

 

A complainant reported the theft of a jackhammer, two air compressors, and a chainsaw from her garage in the 400 block of East Second Street on Wednesday evening. The case is under investigation.

 

A complainant reported the theft of two firearms from his residence in the 800 block of East Sixth Street on Thursday. The case is under investigation.

 

A complainant reported the theft of his wallet from his unlocked vehicle in the 200 block of East First Street on Thursday. The case is under investigation.

 

43-year-old Donald M. Barrish of Pana was arrested Friday on a Bond Forfeiture warrant. Bond is set at $2,500.

 

43-year-old Tyrone A. Powyszynski was arrested Friday in connection to trespassing and property damage in the 400 block of Clay Street.

 

An altercation was reported between a 24-year-old male and a 17-year-old male in the 200 block of East First Street on Friday. Possible battery charges could be filed pending further investigation.

 

A complainant reported the theft of a 2005 Club Car brand golf cart from his yard in the 100 block of Michaels Street sometime between May 24th and Saturday. The cart is valued at $2,500. The case is under investigation.

 

A complainant reported the theft of a 2001 Artic Cat 250 four wheeler in the 700 block of West Orange Street sometime between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. on Saturday. The case is under investigation.

 

On Monday, the Christian County Sheriff’s Office reported the following arrests to Regional Radio News:

 

39-year-old Jason W. Wescott of Morrisonville was arrested Saturday for Driving while License Revoked. No bond has been set.

 

40-year-old Phillip E. Wicker of Pana was arrested on a Bond Forfeiture warrant. Bond is set at $15,000.

35-year-old Derick B. Jackson of Strasburg was arrested on May 20th for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol.

 

25-year-old Jimmie Hickman of Sigel was arrested May 21st for Domestic Battery.

 

63-year-old Michael Gruele of Effingham was arrested May 24th for No Valid Registration and Driving while License Suspended.

 

19-year-old Dakota Campbell of Effingham was arrested on May 26th for Failing to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident and Driving while License Suspended.

 

55-year-old Kenneth L. Krampe, Jr. of Stewardson was arrested May 28th for DUI.

 

49-year-old George D. Pierce of Shelbyville was arrested Wednesday for Driving while License Suspended and Illegal Transportation of Alcohol.

 

30-year-old Lindsey J. Grant of Mt. Zion was arrested Saturday for Illegal Possession of a Controlled Substance.

33-year-old Christopher R.T. Ager of Taylorvville was arrested Friday for Domestic Battery and Interfering with Reporting of Domestic Violence. Bond is set at $5,000.

23-year-old Brett M. Bryson of Taylorville was arrested Thursday for Possession of Methamphetamine. Bond has been set at $7,500.

 

On Friday, the Christian County Sheriff’s Office reported the following accidents to Regional Radio News:

 

41-year-old Aaron E. Williamson of Pawnee was driving eastbound on County Highway 6 Wednesday when he stopped at a stop sign. He proceeded to go through the stop sign but did not see a semi coming that was driven by 51-year-old Randle S. Jenkins of Springfield. The semi struck the back passenger side of the car, spinning Williamson’s car 180 degrees across the intersection onto County Highway 7. No one was injured.

 

29-year-old Kimberly D. Washburn of Shelbyville was driving eastbound on Illinois Route 16 approaching 2400 East Road Wednesday when a deer ran in front of her and she hit the deer. She was not injured.

49-year-old Robert L. Meek of Pana was cited for expired registration sticker and disobeying a stop sign.

30-year-old Andrea R. McVey of Moweaqua was pulling out of Walmart and hit the car driven by 77-year-old Thomas O. Tolbert. No one was injured. McVey was cited for failure to yield into merging traffic.
