58 year-old Toby M. Vaughn of Pana was arrested on Tuesday on a bond forfeiture warrant for contempt of court. Bond was set at $509.

 

35 year-old Alex M. McDonal of Springfield was arrested on Wednesday for domestic battery.


31 year-old Joshua A. Westerfield of Edinburg was arrested on Tuesday on a bond forfeiture warrant for leaving the scene of an accident, causing vehicle damage. Bond was set at $20,000.

On Tuesday, the Christian County Sheriff’s Department reported the following arrest to Regional Radio:

 

35 year-old Tyler P. Lecocq of Taylorville was arrested on Monday for unlawful possession of methamphetamine of less than five grams. Bond was set at $50,000.

 

30 year-old Cody Pugsley of Taylorville was arrested on Monday for possession of a controlled substance. He was also arrested on a bond forfeiture warrant for criminal trespass to a building. Bond was set at $15,000.

 

On Tuesday, the Taylorville Police Department reported the following arrest to Regional Radio:


62 year-old Les Carmichael of Taylorville was issued a city ordinance violation on Friday for disorderly conduct.

On Monday, the Christian County Sheriff’s Department reported the following arrests to Regional Radio:

 

34 year-old Janet M. Vits of Ramsey was arrested on Friday on a bond forfeiture warrant for possession of a controlled substance. Bond was set at $3,000.

 

32 year-old Wayne E. Whitmore of Springfield was arrested on Saturday on an original arrest warrant for contempt of court. Bond was set at $25,000.

 

33 year-old Heather J. Dobyns of Kincaid was arrested on Saturday for domestic battery.

 

36 year-old Steven J. Randall of Edinburg was arrested on Saturday on a bond forfeiture warrant for driving on a suspended/revoked license. Bond was set at $1,500.

 

32 year-old Kody K. Page of Taylorville was arrested on Saturday for possession of a controlled substance.

 

* There was an error on the arrest of 45 year-old Julia K. Moon of Zionsville, Indiana back on March 12. Moon was not arrested on a bond forfeiture warrant for driving on a suspended/revoked license. Julie Mayer, Christian County Circuit Court Clerk, stated the case has been dismissed.

 

Accidents:

 

22 year-old Taylor B. Ingram of Decatur was driving a 2007 Hyundai Utility, heading southbound on Illinois Route 51 at .5 mile north of 650 North Road when a deer ran into the roadway. Ingram was unable to avoid striking the deer on the roadway. His Hyundai received front end damage and was towed from the scene. No injuries were reported. The accident occurred on March 20 at 7:25 a.m.

 

52 year-old Thomas L. Ashbaker of Nokomis was driving a 2013 Ford Edge, traveling north on 1100 East Road. At approximately 250 North, a deer entered the roadway, then Ashbaker struck it. No injuries were reported. The accident occurred on March 22 at 7:42 p.m.

 

44 year-old Douglas R. Keppler of Moweaqua was driving a 2011 Suzuki Coupe, heading westbound on County Road 4. Keppler stated a deer walked into the roadway and he was unable to avoid striking the deer. Keppler was not injured. The accident occurred on March 27 at 7:10 a.m.

 

22 year-old Alexander T. Norris of Palmer was driving a 2015 Ford Taurus north on County Highway 1. Around 750 North, a deer ran into the roadway. Norris hit the deer causing damage to the front of the vehicle. No injuries were reported. The accident occurred on March 20 at 7:40 p.m.

 

On Monday, the Taylorville Police Department reported the following arrests to Regional Radio:

 

28 year-old Natasha J. Lee of Decatur was arrested on Thursday for possession of controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia.

 

Accidents:

 

Officers were dispatched to a two vehicle accident at Route 29 and Route 104 with injuries. Officers arrived and spoke with both 17 year-old Marissa E. Burkey of Taylorville and 68 year-old Dean F. Ray of Taylorville. Burkey stated she was driving her 1996 Jeep Cherokee and had a green light and did not see Ray driving his 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt. Burkey further stated she turned in front of Ray. Ray stated that Burkey turned in front of him, causing him to strike Burkey’s Jeep. No injuries were reported in Burkey’s vehicle. Ray stated he was not injured. However a passenger in Ray’s Cobalt, 64 year-old Kathleen A. Ray of Taylorville, indicated she had severe pain in her back. A rear seat passenger, 55 year-old Suzanne M. Cocagne of Taylorville, had a small cut on her finger and stated she was very sore. Kathleen A. Ray was transported by ambulance to Taylorville Memorial Hospital, while Cocagne was transported to TMH by Sgt. Thompson of the Taylorville Police Department. Burkey’s Jeep Cherokee sustained major passenger side damage, while Ray’s vehicle had major front end damage. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. Burkey was issued a citation for Failure to Yield Turning Left. The accident occurred on March 27 at 9:57 a.m.

 

17 year-old Brittany L. Alberts of Taylorville and 45 year-old Marcy A. Kress of Taylorville were stopped in traffic waiting for a stopped vehicle to make a left turn. 18 year-old Reed O. Heberling of Taylorville, who was driving a 2001 Ford F-150, did not see Alberts stopped ahead of him. Heberling struck the rear of Alberts’ 1999 Nissan 4-door, pushing it into Kress’ 2016 Dodge Van. Alberts was taken to TMH by ambulance, along with a juvenile passenger in her vehicle. The accident occurred on March 24 at 2:30 p.m.


37 year-old Heather L. Davidson of Taylorville was driving a 1997 Dodge Intrepid, westbound on Springfield Road and was stopped for traffic in the 800 block, in front of Taylorville High School. 16 year-old Chase E. Gatons of Stonington, driving a 1999 Chevy SUV, was following behind Davidson, was not able to stop in time and struck Davidson’s Dodge. Both vehicles were able to drive from the scene and were moved prior to officer’s arrival. A passenger in Davidson’s vehicle was taken to TMH by ambulance. The accident occurred on March 21 at 3:15 p.m.

25 year-old Zachary M. Morrissey of Blue Mound was arrested on Monday on a bond forfeiture warrant for contempt of court. Bond was set at $2,500.

 

21 year-old Kylie R. Best of Kincaid was arrested on Tuesday for possession of a controlled substance. She was also arrested on a bond forfeiture warrant for burglary, and an original arrest warrant for parole violation. Bond was set at $20,000.

 

32 year-old Brandt A. Ehrhardt of Taylorville was arrested on Tuesday on a bond forfeiture warrant for contraband in a penal institution and driving under the influence. Bond was set at $3,300.

 

34 year-old Robert D. Burke of Wood River, Illinois was arrested on Tuesday on a bond forfeiture warrant of two driving on a suspended/revoked licenses (two different cases: 2012 and 2015).

 

34 year-old Stephanie M. Holley of Stonington was arrested on Tuesday for domestic battery.

 

28 year-old James E. Gordon of Decatur was arrested on Monday for possession of drug paraphernalia.

 

33 year-old Tawana R. Hall of Pana was arrested on Tuesday for obstructing identification. She was also arrested on a bond forfeiture warrant for possession of drug paraphernalia and driving under the influence. She was also arrested on an original arrest warrant for aggravated fleeing.

 

31 year-old Ronee N. Foraker of Taylorville was arrested on Monday for burglary and theft. She was released on $5,000 recognizance bond.

 

26 year-old Tyler J. Dull of Pana was arrested on Monday for domestic battery.

 

47 year-old Frank E. Klekamp of Vandalia was arrested on Tuesday on a bond forfeiture warrant for reckless driving. Bond was set at $2,000.

 

Accident:

 

16 year-old Austin S. Lay of Assumption was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Impala, heading westbound on 1300 North Road attempting to cross US Highway 51. He proceeded across the northbound lanes into the middle of the four lane. Lay stated that his foot slipped off the brake as he came to the yield sign, and his Impala proceeded out into the southbound lanes and tried to hurry across to avoid a 2004 Peterbilt 389 semi tractor-trailer being driven by 47 year-old Ronald S. Shofner of Maroa that was heading southbound.

 

Shofner stated he saw Lay come out to the middle between the four lanes and thought that he was going to stop. When Lay continued out into the roadway, Shofner attempted to stop. His vehicle left approximately 100 feet of skid marks before striking Lay’s Chevrolet Impala in the passenger side rear corner. Shofner’s brakes remained locked and left a total of approximately 363 feet of skid marks before coming to a stop on the west shoulder of the southbound lanes. Lay’s vehicle spun around and came to a stop facing east on 1300 North Road. No injuries were reported. The accident occurred on March 20 at 12:20 p.m.

24 year-old Chadwick R. Barlow of Taylorville was arrested on Friday on a bond forfeiture warrant on an issuance of warrant. Bond was set at $1,500.

 

28 year-old Jeremy R. Coy of Taylorville was arrested on Friday for possession of methamphetamine. Bond was set at $7,500. 

 

37 year-old Aron C. Strunk of Morrisonville was arrested on Friday for driving with a suspended license.

 

29 year-old Chad M. Hull of Kincaid was arrested on Saturday for resisting a peace officer and leaving the scene of an accident with injury.

 

37 year-old Douglas W. Cowell of Taylorville was arrested on Monday for violating an order of protection. Bond was set at $250,000.

Accident:

 

55 year-old Julie L. Jones of Blue Mound was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze, eastbound on County Highway 6 (1350 North Road) and she was blinded by the rising sun. Jones did not see the curve warning signs and proceeded off the curve, ran the stop sign at 2300 East Road and then left the roadway. Jones’ Chevy jumped most of the ditch and came to stop approximately 45 feet east of the roadway in a field. Jones was taken to Taylorville Memorial Hospital by ambulance due to her injuries. The accident occurred on March 17 at 7:09 a.m.

33 year-old Bryan K. Jones of Pana was arrested on Wednesday on a bond forfeiture warrant for possession of cannabis. Bond was set at $3,000.

A 14 year-old juvenile of Taylorville was arrested on Wednesday for retail theft.

 

A 14 year-old juvenile of Stonington was arrested on Wednesday for battery. She was released to her father.

 

Accident:


Officers responded to a two vehicle accident at Spresser and Clay. 54 year-old Dean D. McConnell of Taylorville stated he exited McDonald’s in his 1992 Buick 4-door car and was eastbound on Spresser Street. McConnell stated that 72 year-old Marjorie B. Cohoon of Taylorville, who was driving a 2004 Chevrolet 4-door vehicle, struck his vehicle in the passenger rear door. Cohoon stated she was north bound on Clay and proceeded across Spresser Street and struck McConnell’s vehicle. Cohoon’s Chevy had front end damage and McConnell’s Buick had passenger rear door damage and damage to the trim on the rear quarter panel. Cohoon was issued a citation for failure to yield at a stop/yield intersection. No injuries were reported. The accident occurred on March 16 at 11:12 am.

On Wednesday, the Christian County Sheriff’s Department reported the following arrests to Regional Radio:

 

30 year-old Jessie C. Workman of Kincaid was arrested on Tuesday for domestic battery. Bond was set at $2,000.

 

30 year-old Jacob C. Krouse of Taylorville was arrested on Tuesday for burglary and retail theft. Bond was set at $30,000.

 

24 year-old Jerrie D. Day of Pana was arrested on Wednesday on a bond forfeiture warrant for failure to appear for driving suspended.

 

Accidents:

 

22 year-old Austin C. Ashworth of Mattoon was driving a 2006 Ford F-350 pickup truck, was northbound on Township Road 2500 East, just south of Township Road 600 North. Ashworth drove off the roadway to the right and into the east ditch. His Ford traveled approximately 400 feet in the ditch before striking and damaging a Shelby Electric Utility Pole. His vehicle continued for approximately 30 feet before coming to rest in the east ditch. His Ford F-350 received major right side damage. Ashworth initially reported to the Mattoon Police Department that his vehicle had been stolen, however recanted that claim and stated he was the driver. No injuries were reported. The accident occurred on March 13 at 3:30 a.m.

 

18 year-old Kaylie N. Weideman of Pana was driving a 2010 Dodge Avenger SXT, heading eastbound on Township Road 800 North, approximately 4/10 of a mile west of Township Road 2500 East. Weideman lost control on an area of gravel covering the roadway and began to rotate clockwise, proceeding towards the south ditch. Her Dodge traveled approximately 162 feet on the roadway, from the point it began to lose control to the point it exited the roadway. Her vehicle entered the south ditch, where the impact caused her Dodge to become airborne. Weideman’s vehicle proceeded into a field where it flipped over, finally coming to rest on its top, facing southwest. Her vehicle then traveled approximately 115 feet from the location it first entered the ditch until the final resting point in the field. Weideman’s Dodge received major front end and roof damage. Both Weideman and a passenger were taken by ambulance to St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur. The accident occurred on March 12 at 2:04 p.m.

On Thursday, the Christian County Sheriff’s Department reported the following accident to Regional Radio:


52 year-old Scott R. Beeson of Pana was driving a 2005 Kia Optima, heading northbound on Highway Route 51, just north of 400 North Road when he struck a deer. His vehicle received front-end damage. No injuries were reported. The accident occurred on March 10 at 4:43 a.m.


On Thursday, the Taylorville Police Department reported the following accident to Regional Radio:


24 year-old Casey C. Dudley of Taylorville was driving a 1999 Volkswagen Beetle, heading west on Langleyville Road. Dudley passed a vehicle driven by 25 year-old Megan L. Lee of Bulpitt. Dudley’s Beetle left the roadway and traveled 484 feet east of the final resting location. He entered the roadway briefly, then oversteers and leaves the roadway a second time. Dudley’s vehicle impacted several small trees along the roadway, and came to rest in the middle of the roadway. EMS would take Dudley to Memorial Medical Center in Springfield to be treated. Dudley and Lee both stated they were unsure if Dudley’s vehicle rolled over during the accident. Dudley believed he crawled out of the vehicle and was not ejected. He stated he could have been ejected, but was unsure.


He admitted on scene to having drank alcohol earlier in the night. He submitted a blood sample once at Memorial Medical Center, as test results are unknown at this time.


Dudley was arrested /cited for driving under the influence, reckless driving, and operating uninsured motor vehicle. The accident occurred on March 4 at 1:45 a.m.

On February 22, 53 year-old Don W. Hubbartt of Findlay was cited for driving while license suspended, attempting to flee and elude an officer and possession of drug equipment following a citizen’s complaint of suspicious activity at a residence in Henton. He posted bond and was released.


On February 13, 49 year-old George D. Pierce of Shelbyville was arrested for not having a valid driver’s license, failing to report an accident and operating a vehicle with no insurance following a single car accident located at County Road 1900 East and County Road 1150 North. He posted bond and was released.


On February 19, while deputies and members of the Cowden Police Department were looking for a runaway juvenile at a residence in rural Cowden, 18 year-old Micah L. Sandiford and 18 year-old Colton Sphar, both of Cowden were arrested for illegal consumption of alcohol by minors as they found to be drinking at the residence. Four other persons under the age of 18 were also located at the residence consuming alcohol. Six underaged persons were arrested and transported to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office where they were released to their parents with court dates for these charges.


On February 12, Samuel T. Smith of Hammond was arrested for operating his vehicle under the influence of alcohol on Route 32 at County Road 1600 North.


On February 20, 56 year-old Tina M. Hall of Tower Hill was cited for driving under the influence of alcohol following a motorist complaint of a reckless near Tower Hill.


On February 17, 46 year-old Gregory A. Carter of Oconee was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs and for possession of cannabis. Carter was driving his vehicle on County Road 2100 North and County Road 900 East at the time of his arrest.


On March 1, 27 year-old Benjamin E. Williams of Cowden was arrested for domestic battery following a signed complaint by a female resident of Williams’ in Cowden. He was transported to the Shelby County Detention Center and incarcerated awaiting a first appearance in court.

38 year-old Sherri L. Holmes of Taylorville was arrested on Tuesday on a bond forfeiture warrant of contempt of court. Bond was set at $300.

 

43 year-old Terry L. Brown of Taylorville was arrested on Wednesday on an out-of-state warrant of contempt of court. Bond was set at $4,500.

 

48 year-old Curtis R. Burney of Bulpitt was arrested on Tuesday for disorderly conduct. Bond was set at $1,500.

 

30 year-old Donald R. Felton of Taylorville was arrested on Tuesday for domestic battery and resisting/obstructing a peace officer.

32 year-old Sarah J. L. Spallinger of Mt. Auburn was arrested on Monday for theft under $500. Bond was set at $1,500.

 

48 year-old Jenetta L. Booker of Morrisonville was arrested on Monday on a bond forfeiture warrant of driving on a suspended/revoked license. Bond was set at $2,000.

 

On Tuesday, the Taylorville Police Department reported the following arrests to Regional Radio:

 

56 year-old Jay T. Edwards of Taylorville was issued a city ordinance on Friday of violation of public intoxication and was transported to the scene by ambulance to Taylorville Memorial Hospital.

 

37 year-old Heather Davidson of Taylorville was arrested on Saturday for retail theft. She was transported to TPD, processed, and released on a notice to appear.

 

31 year-old Jacob A. Samson of Taylorville was arrested on Sunday for public intoxication, which is a local ordinance.


24 year-old Casey C. Dudley of Taylorville was arrested on Friday for DUI.

21 year-old Brett M. Sloan of Assumption was arrested on Sunday for methamphetamine precursors. Bond was set at $25,000.

 

21 year-old Eric J. Merritt of Pana was arrested on Sunday for methamphetamine precursors and possession of meth manufacturing material. Bond was set at $25,000.

 

Accidents:

 

26 year-old Mitchell G. Belusko of Litchfield was driving a 2015 Ford Fusion, heading northbound on Illinois Route 48 and was approaching the intersecting Township Road 775E. Belusko stated he fell asleep. His vehicle proceeded across the southbound lane and began to exit the road at Township Road 775. His Ford continued approximately 210 feet in the southwest ditch before it struck an east/west drainage ditch. His Ford impacted with the north drainage ditch embankment, where it came to rest facing north. Belusko’s Ford Fusion received major front end damage. He was transported to Taylorville Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries. The accident occurred on March 6 at 9:27 a.m.

 

27 year-old Curtis T. McNeill of Nokomis was driving a 2004 Lincoln Navigator, travelling south on County 1 (1250 East) when a deer ran into the roadway. McNeill was not able to stop in time and hit the deer causing damage to the front of the vehicle. McNeill and a passenger were not injured. The accident occurred on March 4 at 6:24 p.m.

 

On Monday, the Taylorville Police Department reported the following accident to Regional Radio:


20 year-old Dalton P. Stokes of Taylorville was driving a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix, heading north on Illinois Route 48 when he fell asleep. Stokes stated he crossed lanes of traffic and hit the guardrail on the west side of the road. His Pontiac received front end and drivers side damage. The accident occurred on March 4 at 1:40 a.m.

Accident:

 

Officers responded to a three vehicle accident at Springfield Road and Knute Rockne Drive. 49 year-old David M. Zaske of Decatur was driving a 2011 Chevrolet 4-door and stated he looked away and when he looked back, he could not get stopped in time and struck a 2012 GMC Carryall driven by 68 year-old Linda L. Antle of Taylorville. Antle’s vehicle then struck a 1998 Jeep Cherokee operated by 53 year-old Carla J. Suhribier of Assumption. No injuries were reported. Zaske’s Chevy had major front end damage, while Antle’s vehicle had sustained damage to the rear and front, and Suhribier’s Jeep had rear damage. Zaske was issued a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Zaske’s vehicle had to be towed from the scene. The accident occurred on March 3 at 10:37 a.m.

31 year-old Brian M. Hayes of Taylorville was arrested on Wednesday on a bond forfeiture warrant for criminal damage to property. Bond was set at $3,000.

35 year-old Brian C. Greer of Taylorville was arrested on Thursday for driving while license suspended.

 

Accidents:

 

15 year-old Lennon R. Myers of Taylorville was driving a 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe while on a learning permit. Her mother, 56 year-old Cheryl A. Myers of Taylorville was in the vehicle with her. As Myers went to pull into a parking stall on the south side of the road in the 100 block of West Market, she accidentally accelerated and drove the vehicle through the window of Best 4 Less at 102 West Market Street. No injuries were reported. Myers was issued a citation for failure to reduce speed. The accident occurred on March 1 at 6:58 p.m.

 

Officers were dispatched to a vehicle in the roadway that appeared to have a broken axle. The caller stated that the vehicle was on Route 48 near Airport Road. Officer Reimann located the vehicle and saw it was partially blocking traffic and radioed dispatch for the next available tow. 68 year-old James C. Hurd of Decatur was driving a 2010 Chevrolet Impala and stated he was coming back from St. Louis, Missouri and had struck the raised median on Route 48 at South Spresser Street. Hurd noted he did not believe he fell asleep, but may have been groggy. The vehicle sustained major front end damage and was leaking fluid on the roadway. Both of the drivers side tires were popped and the front passenger tire seemed to be broken away from the vehicle. A tow truck arrived and towed the vehicle. The driver was given a ride to TPD to wait for a ride from Decatur. The accident occurred on March 3 at 4:40 a.m.

 

41 year-old Angel R. Mann of Taylorville was operating a 2012 Dodge Sedan as it was stopped on Spresser Street attempting to turn left. 69 year-old James Brubaker of Taylorville stopped behind Mann. 17 year-old Alexander M. Kennell of Taylorville was driving a 2007 Chevrolet 1500 and was looking at vehicles parked at the dealership and failed to see Brubaker stopping. Kennell’s truck struck the rear of Brubaker’s SUV and pushed it into Mann’s Dodge. No injuries were reported and all vehicles were towed off the roadway. Kennell’s vehicle was towed due to extensive front end damage. Kennell was given a citation for failure to reduce speed. The accident occurred on March 2 at 3:01 p.m.

 

24 year-old Christian E. Crowder of Taylorville was operating a 2001 Ford F-350 and was parked along the north side of West Richland Street and then began to pull out like it was turning south. 20 year-old Alexander J. Thompson of Taylorville was driving a 2015 Chevrolet 1500 and paused to allow Crowder to continue. Crowder straightened out and scraped along the side of Thompson’s vehicle. Crowder also appeared to be intoxicated and began slowly driving away. Thompson recognized the driver and called TPD. Crowder was arrested for leaving the scene of an accident. No injuries were reported. The accident occurred on March 1 at 6:55 p.m.

24 year-old Christian E. Crowder of Taylorville was arrested on Wednesday for criminal damage to property, and battery. Bond was set at $10,000.

 

43 year-old Darlene M. Miller of Blue Mound was arrested on Wednesday on an original arrest warrant for driving under the influence.

 

37 year-old David E. Fisher of Mt. Auburn was arrested on Tuesday on a bond forfeiture warrant for driving under the influence. Bond was set at $10,000.

 

Accident:

 

22 year-old Lacey N. Kuntzman was driving a 2014 Ford Focus, heading southbound on County Highway 22. At approximately 2925 North, a deer collided with the passenger side of her Ford Focus in the roadway. No injuries were reported. The accident occurred on February 28 at 6:44 p.m.

 

On Wednesday, the Taylorville Police Department reported the following accident to Regional Radio:


Officers were dispatched to the intersection of Adams Street and Shumway Street in reference to an accident. 89 year-old Harry D. Garren of Taylorville was driving a 2002 Ford F-150 westbound on Adams Street. He stopped at the intersection and entered the intersection after stopping. His vehicle was struck in the intersection by 26 year-old Michael L. Droke, who was driving a 2016 Hyundai 4-Door and made contact with Garren’s Ford pickup on the passenger side rear wheel and truck bed. Garren’s vehicle spun off the roadway and stopped on the side walk of Adams Street. Droke’s Hyundai’s front bumper was ripped off. No injuries were reported. The accident occurred on February 27 at 11:00 p.m. Droke was cited for failure to yield at an intersection and uninsured vehicle.

57 year-old Cheryl D. Laughlin of Tower Hill was arrested on Monday on a bond forfeiture warrant for operating an uninsured vehicle. Bond was set at $150.

 

33 year-old Lacey C. Swinburne of Taylorville was arrested on Monday on a bond forfeiture warrant on an issuance of warrant. Bond was set at $7,500.

 

49 year-old Curtis Burney of Bulpitt was arrested on Monday for criminal trespass to land.

 

23 year-old Laken J. Brion of Taylorville was arrested on Saturday for illegal use of an intoxicating compound, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on a $5,000 recognizance bond.
