55 year old Leanne Kinsella of Taylorville was arrested on Friday on an original arrest warrant for driving with a suspended license.

41 year old Holly M. Hall of Taylorville was arrested on Thursday for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

 

30 year old Nathan A. Hapner of Taylorville was arrested for a valid Christian County Warrant for retail theft. Bond was set at $3000.

 

29 year old Pamela Rozplochowski of Taylorville was arrested on Thursday for a valid Christian County Warrant.


29 year old Shady W. Abdallah of Clinton was arrested on Thursday for obstructing justice, as well as on a bond forfeiture warrant also for obstructing justice.

27 year old Jessica A. Herbert of Taylorville was arrested on Wednesday on a bond forfeiture warrant for speeding. Bond was set at $2500.

26 year old Amber N. Spracklen of Pana was arrested for driving with a suspended license.


 

 

ACCIDENTS:


On 7/27/16 at 10:55am officers responded to a two vehicle accident at Webster and Spresser. 72 year old Joesph M. Teyshak of Riverton stated that he started in traffic to turn left from the turn lane in a 2007 Freightliner Semi, and was struck by 85 year old Gloria L. Gruen of Taylorville driving a 2007 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. Gruen was turning left from the non turn lane. Gruen driver stated that she went to turn left and struck Teyshak’s vehicle. Gruen stated she was in the wrong lane to turn left. Gruen’s vehicle had damage to the driver side and the driver door would not open. Teyshak’s vehicle had bumper and hood damage. No injuries were reported. Gruen’s vehicle was towed from the scene.

33 year old Michael D. Kline of Taylorville was arrested on Sunday for possession of methamphetamine.

 

51 year old Martin L. Crain of Kincaid was arrested on Sunday for violating an order of protection.

 

34 year old Justin R. Sherman of Taylorville was arrested on Friday for domestic battery.

 

27 year old Krystal L. Dilley of Assumption was arrested on Friday on a bond forfeiture warrant for violating an order of protection. Bond was set at $1500.

 

45 year old George P. Dees of Taylorville was arrested on Saturday for harassment. Bond was set at $150.

 

30 year old Brian E. Loyd of Springfield was arrested on Friday for possession of a controlled substance as well as driving with a suspended license.

 

23 year old Brett D. Moran of Decatur was arrested on Saturday on a bond forfeiture warrant for an issuance of warrant. Bond was set at $2500.

 

44 year old Terry L. Skinner of Springfield was arrested on Saturday for possession of cannabis, as well as on a bond forfeiture warrant for contempt of court. Bond was set at $3000.

18 year old Kaleb A. Vaughn and a 12 year old juvenile were arrested on Thursday for attempted burglary.

 



 

ACCIDENTS:

 

On 7/21/16 a 17 year old juvenile from Tower Hill was traveling west on IL Rt. 16. At approximately 2680 East, a deer entered the roadway from the south. The juvenile then collided with the deer in the roadway.


On July 16th 45 year old John E. Long of Taylorville was traveling on 1350 East Road. Around 1250 North, Long drove across the road and down into a ditch. Long’s vehicle hit a tree causing the vehicle to come to a stop. Long was injured, and the vehicle sustained major damage. Long was taken to Taylorville Memorial Hospital via Suttons Ambulance to be treated for injuries.

17 year old Lathan D. Moreland of North Freedom, WI was backing out of a driveway located at 1815 S. Houston St. Moreland backed into the roadway and crossed both lanes before hitting the power pole on the east side of the street with the rear bumper.

24 year old Blake M. Whitehead of Taylorville was arrested on Tuesday on a bond forfeiture warrant for contempt of court.


 

ACCIDENTS:


On July 18th, 15 year old Adam M. Downing of Taylorville, who has a learning permit was attempting to turn from northbound IL Route 29 onto westbound IL Route 104 while having a green light in both directions for IL Route 29. Downing failed to see 67 year old Madelyn C Ryder of Greenup travelling through the intersection southbound on IL Route 29 in her vehicle. Downing pulled across the intersection and struck Ryder. Both vehicles suffered heavy damage and were towed from the scene. All three occupants in Ryder’s vehicle were transported by EMS to Taylorville Memorial Hospital. Both occupants of Downing’s vehicle refused medical treatment on the scene.

Area Arrests/Accidents 7/19/2016

A rollover accident resulted in the occupants of the vehicle to be hospitalized recently. 27 year old Candice L. Oller of Illiopolis was northbound on County Highway 22. Just north of TWP Road 200 North, Oller lost control of the vehicle. Oller went off the roadway to the right, and over-correction was made and the vehicle came back across the roadway. The vehicle then went into the left ditch and eventually overturned. Occupants of the vehicle were transported to St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur.

The following arrests were reported to Regional Radio News on Monday by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.

 

18 year old Demetrious L. Mack of Sullivan was arrested for illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor.

 

36 year old Shawn Allen of Ramsey was cited for operating a vehicle without a valid driver’s license.

 

36 year old Shane A. Drum of Shelbyville was arrested for a probation violation, threatening a public official, resisting arrest, and criminal damage to property. Drum is being held on a $40,000 bond.

 

29 year old Michael C. Mathes of Brownstown was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs.

 

21 year old Hannah K. Lovell of Mattoon was cited for leaving the scene of an accident.

 

37 year old Christy M. Topolski of Cowden was arrested for driving with a suspended license.

 

51 year old Todd D. Weeden of Shelbyville was arrested for driving with a suspended license.

 

21 year old Hannah M. Strode of Shelbyville was arrested for domestic battery as well as criminal

damage to property.

32 year old Sara M. Shehdeh of Taylorville was arrested on Saturday for driving with a suspended license as well as possession of drug paraphernalia.




 

ACCIDENTS:

 

Paul D. Moon of Pana was southbound on TWP Road 2500 East. Just south of TWP Road 500 North Moon fell asleep. Moon went off the road to the left (east) and traveled 340 feet before coming to rest in a creek. Moon reported no injuries, and the vehicle was towed from the scene.


19 year old Matthew R. Emerson of Nokomis was traveling north on 1250 East Road. Emerson lost control of the vehicle skidding out of control. Emerson’s vehicle hit the ditch embankment and came to rest facing south east on the west side of 1250 East Road. Emerson refused medical treatment.

47 year old Lynn R. Norris of Taylorville was arrested on Wednesday on an original arrest warrant for theft. Bond was set at $100,000.

 

21 year old Ronald D. Fisher of Bulpitt was arrested on Wednesday on a bond forfeiture warrant for contempt of court. Bond was set at $2000.


 

ACCIDENTS:

 

16 year old Drew M. Pettijohn of Palmer was traveling southwest on Route 48. Pettijohn went off the roadway to the left and struck the ditch. Petijohn’s vehicle came to a stop facing northeast. Pettijohn reported no injuries.

 

On June 22nd at approximately 12:03am Sgt. McWard of the Christian County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to 211 Kemmerer Street in Assumption, IL for a criminal damage to property complaint. He arrived on scene and spoke with the complainant, Dennis L. Sloan of Assumption. Mr. Sloan stated that his “lion head” had been damaged by a vehicle. Sgt. McWard observed a brick and mortar pillar at the southeast corner of Mr. Sloan’s driveway that had significant damage. He observed that several of the bricks were loose and the mortar between the bricks was cracked and fallen out in several places. Mr. SLoan also stated a yield sign just south of their location had been struck as well. Sgt. McWard observed a yield sign laying on the ground just south of Mr. Sloan’s driveway. Mr. Sloan stated that he was awake in his residence and heard a collision outside. Mr. Sloan stated he observed an older style white Lincoln backing away from his pillar. South down Kemmerer Street. Mr. Sloan stated that he observed the vehicle continue south on Kemmerer Street and run over the yield sign at the corner of Kemmerer Street and East Illinois Street. Mr. Sloan stated that he was familiar with the vehicle and stated that it was a younger male who drove the vehicle, and that it was parked “up town” in Assumption most of the time. Mr. Sloan stated that the vehicle was usually parked by the new tavern in Assumption. Sgt. McWard attempted to locate the vehicle without success. The following morning he spoke with Lt. Woods, who advised him of the situation. Lt. Woods stated that he would attempt to locate the vehicle. Lt. Woods contacted Sgt. McWard a short time later and advised that he had observed the vehicle parked in Assumption on Chestnut Street. Lt. Woods stated that he observed damage to the front of the vehicle that was indicative of a collision with a hard/brick object. Lt. Woods spoke with the owner of the vehicle, Mrs. Deana R. DeClerck, who advised that her son, Mr. Travis S. Moma was the primary driver of the vehicle. Mrs. DeClerck stated that she would advice her son to contact Sgt. McWard. On July 11th, McWard spoke with MR. Moma at his residence and asked him what had occurred. Moma stated that he didn’t remember, and stated that he believed another person had taken his vehicle and struck Mr. Sloan's pillar as well as the yield sign. McWard asked Moma why he didn’t report his vehicle as stolen if it was taken and he stated that he didn’t know that it had been taken, but didn’t remember hitting the pillar. McWard asked Moma why he didn’t report the incident when he realized the damage to the vehicle, and Moma stated he hadn’t noticed any new or significant damage to his vehicle. McWard asked Moma if he had any idea who would have taken his vehicle and he replied no. McWard issued Moma a citation for failure to report an accident to police authority.

 

On 7/13/16 officers were dispatched to National Rent to Own for an accident. Upon arrival 31 year old Timothy D. Schafer of Mattoon who was driving a 2009 Chevrolet Ambulance, said that they were transporting a patient to Springfield. Schafer said that traffic stopped quickly when they were rear ended. Schafer said that they tried to stop but, due to the wet pavement their rig skidded and they rear ended 23 year old Dalton W. Wilson of Taylorville. The female passenger in Wilson’s vehicle complained of neck pain, but refused medical treatment. The ambulance was towed due to the stop and was issued a citation for failure to yield to an accident.

 

On 7/12/16 officers were dispatched to the 800 block of W. Poplar for a 2 vehicle accident. 17 year old Rachel R. Frazier of Taylorville stated that she was traveling westbound and went to pass a vehicle that was parked on the roadway. Frazier said that there was another car heading east towards her and she swerved to miss the other car and hit the back end of another car. No citations were issued and no vehicles were towed.

 

On 7/12/2016, 17 year old Austin W. Day of Kincaid was traveling south on Park Street and had slowed for traffic near the intersection of Park and Main Cross Streets. 69 year old Sandra K. Mann of Taylorville who was following behind Day was not able to stop in time and struck Day’s vehicle. Day’s vehicle was then pushed into a third vehicle. Mann advised officers that she were having problems with her brakes. The third vehicle left the scene prior to the officer’s arrival. Both vehicles were able to drive away from the scene.


While backing from a parking spot in the unlined parking lot at St. Mary’s School, 37 year old Kristi L. Carey of Taylorville failed to see the power pole behind her. There was minor damage to the vehicle, and none to the pole. No injuries were reported.

31 year old Daniel L. Shimkus of Kincaid was arrested on Thursday for theft.

 

38 year old Don S. Steele of Nokomis was arrested on Thursday on an original arrest warrant for aggravated battery. Bond was set at $50,000.

 

25 year old Robert V. McCauley of Morrisonville was arrested on Thursday on bond forfeiture warrants for criminal damage to property, and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond was set at $7000.


 

ACCIDENTS:

 

39 year old Todd A. Bottoms of Taylorville stated that he was southbound on Shumway St. When he gave the car some gas and it began to slide. Bottoms claimed the gas pedal became stuck and the vehicle spun out of control into the field. Bottom's vehicle left the roadway off the west side and traveled through a bean field, then struck a homemade dump trailer and struck a flatbed trailer which were both parked on private property at 1005 South Shumway St.

 

40 year old Phillip A. Miller of Harvel was traveling north on Route 48. 18 year old Makala J. Finks of Taylorville was traveling south on Route 48. At about 1825 North, Finks began to fall asleep crossing into Miller's lane of traffic. Finks hit Miller causing damage to both vehicles.

It was reported that on June 30th, Tyler Lecocq of Taylorville had been arrested for an alleged retail theft. The Taylorville Police Department that this was an error, and the agency apologizes for the mistake. The correct name concerning the arrest for the alleged theft is 37 year old Tyler P. Jones of Decatur.


 

Accidents:


30 year old Tyler D. Whitenburg of Taylorville stated that he was watching a car turn south onto Madison that had just brushed his arm on the square. Whitenburg said while he was watching the car turn onto Madison he did not turn his car in time to turn his vehicle into the Taylorville Community Credit Union parking lot. Whitenburg struck a power pole owned by Ameren on the north west corner of the parking lot. Whitenburg was transported to Taylorville Memorial Hospital for injuries caused by the airbag deploying.

Accidents:


On 6/29/16 37 year old Kandi R. Jacobs of Taylorville was northbound on Highway Rt. 48. At approximately 1600 North, Jacobs left the roadway to the right. Jacobs then over-corrected and lost control crossing over the center line. Jacob’s vehicle then entered the west ditch and received front-end damage.

47 year old William S. Single of Morrisonville was arrested on Friday on a bond forfeiture warrant for driving on a suspended license. Bond was set at $5000.

 

24 year old Steven S. Durbin of Taylorville was arrested on Friday on an original arrest warrant for contempt of court. Bond was set at $5000.

 

28 year old Dennis E. Wilcutt of Moweaqua was arrested on Friday on a bond forfeiture warrant for criminal damage to property. Bond was set at $2000.

 

37 year old Christopher M. Norris of Edinburg was arrested on Sunday on an original arrest warrant for theft. Bond was set at $3000.

 

31 year old Dustin A. Castle of Pana was arrested on Friday on an original arrest warrant for contempt of court. Bond was set at $1000.

 

 

 

On Tuesday the Taylorville Police Department reported the following arrests to Regional Radio News.

 

35 year old Tyler P. Lecocq of Taylorville was arrested on Thursday for retail theft.

 

61 year old Cheryl A. Izatt of Taylorville was arrested on Sunday for driving while under the influence.

 

32 year old Robert L. Cunningham of Kincaid was arrested on Thursday for driving with a revoked license.

On Friday the Christian County Sheriff’s Department reported the following arrests to Regional Radio News.

 

65 year old Vicki J. Wafford of Pana was arrested on Thursday on an original arrest warrant for retail theft.

 

21 year old Levi T. Simpson of Marshall was arrested on Thursday on a bond forfeiture warrant for driving on a suspended license. Bond was set at $3000.

 

48 year old Bobbie J. Logsdon of Pana was arrested on Thursday for retail theft.



 

ACCIDENTS:


17 year old Blake J. Stauder of Pana was traveling east on 250 North Road. At 2657 East, Stauder came over the hill and met a west bound vehicle. Stauder then steered his vehicle closer to the shoulder and went off the roadway onto the shoulder briefly. When Stauder steered the vehicle back onto the roadway the driver lost control of the vehicle. Stauder’s vehicle then began skidding down the hill on the roadway. Stauder then skidded off the roadway to the north through the ditch and into the lake. Stauder’s vehicle rolled at least one time between leaving the roadway and going into Pana Lake where it came to rest on its top facing south. While speaking with the Stauder after the incident, he advised officers that the west bound vehicle he met as he came over the hill was not on his side of the roadway.
