46-year-old Byron P. Claus of Pana was arrested on Tuesday for a warrant from a 1993 case. Bond set at $2000.

34 year old Brian M. Hays of Taylorville was arrested on Monday for domestic battery, criminal trespassing, possession of methamphetamine, and resisting arrest.

39-year-old Tracy C. Bradley of Decatur was arrested on Saturday for driving on suspended/revoked license.

 

23-year-old Deandre L. Douglas of Decatur was arrested Friday on a 2018 warrant. His bond is set at $50,000.

 

41-year-old Richard A. Wilson of Edinburg was arrested on Friday for a 2018 warrant. His bond is set at $1500.

 

20-year-old Kristin M. Miller of Taylorville was arrested on Friday for obstructing justice.

 

22-year-old Isaach C. Peppers of Taylorville was arrested on Friday for unlawful restraint and aggravated domestic battery.

 

25-year-old Celsey D. Emerson of Sullivan was arrested Saturday on a 2018 warrant. Her bond is set at $10,000.

 

19-year-old Skylar L. Rider of Taylorville was arrested Friday for DUI and obstructing justice.

 

33-year-old Joseph M. Besson of Taylorville was arrested Sunday for possession of methamphetamine.

25-year-old Justin J. Yunker of Taylorville was arrested Saturday for domestic battery.

 

The Christian County Sheriff’s office responded to a vehicle accident on Friday evening at 1550 East 1700 North in May Township.  58-year-old Linda K. Burge of Moweaqua was headed north on 1700 North when a deer entered the roadway and the vehicle hit the deer. No injuries were reported.

28-year-old Marciano Williams of Springfield was arrested Sunday on a Sangamon County Warrant.

 

27-year-old Charles R. Warren was arrested on Sunday for possession of methamphetamine.

 

33-year-old Joseph M. Besson of Taylorville was arrested Saturday for possession of methamphetamine under 5 grams.

 

22-year-old Isaach C. Peppers of Taylorville was arrested Friday for unlawful restraint and aggravated domestic battery.

 

The Taylorville Police Department responded to a traffic accident on Thursday afternoon.  72-year-old Judith F. Robinson of Taylorville was headed north on Morton Street and 68-year-old Glenn A. Bass of Taylorville was westbound on West Main Cross Street. Robinson failed to yield at the stop sign colliding with Bass’ vehicle.  Both vehicles sustained damage. Robinson’s vehicle had to be towed from the scene.  No injuries were reported.

 

The Taylorville Police Department responded to a traffic accident last Monday morning on Springfield Road. 39-year-old Jay T. Gaydosh of Chatham was traveling southeast following the vehicle driven by 62-year-old Deborah Turofsky of Edinburg. Around 1224 Springfield road, Turofsky slowed due to traffic and Gaydosh collided with the rear end of Turofsky’s vehicle.  Gaydosh received a citation.  No injuries were reported.

Shelby County Arrests--July

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office reported the following to Regional Radio News;

 

50-year-old Norah J. Legnon of Tower Hill was arrested on July 10th for violation of an order of protection.

 

45-year-old Brandon O. Faulkner of Shelbyville was arrested on July 13th after deputies responded to 816N and 1800E in reference to a vehicle that had run off the road striking several mailboxes, fences, posts, poles, a phone box, and two gates. Witnesses identified the driver.  He was later arrested at his residence and charged with leaving the scene of an accident--vehicle damage, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and failure to report an accident to police authority. 

 

26-year-old James W.D. Cooper of Shelbyville was arrested on July 13th for filing a false police report, leaving the scene of an accident involving personal injury or death, driving while license is revoked, driving to fast for conditions and operating an uninsured vehicle after a traffic accident at 1915E 2/10 mile south of 1100N. Cooper had originally reported the vehicle was stolen but it was later determined this was false and Cooper was, in fact, the driver. 

 

47-year-old Devin D. Workman of Jacksonville was arrested on July 15th for driving on a suspended license after a traffic stop. 

 

50-year-old Troy P. Riley of Cowden was arrested on July 16th for possession of methamphetamine.

 

37-year-old Tashina D. Riley of Cowden was arrested on July 16th for possession of methamphetamine.

 

60-year-old Daniel P. Reese of Missouri was arrested on July 17th for driving while license revoked after a traffic stop.

 

21-year-old Katelyn M. Mathis of Jacksonville was arrested for possession of methamphetamine after she was found walking on Route 16 2/10 miles west of Tower Hill.

The Christian County Sheriff’s office responded to a vehicle accident on Tuesday morning in Pana. 36-year-old Richard L. Berner Jr. of Ramsey was headed eastbound on County Road 100 North.  Approximately 2484 East, Berner struck a deer, then crossed over the westbound lane and slid sideways entering a ditch.  No injuries were reported.

The Christian County Sheriff’s office responded to a vehicle accident on Thursday afternoon in Pana Township at 400 North and Route 51.  40 year old Janelle M. Stolte of Pana was stopped at a stop sign on 400 North Road.  60 year old Ricky D. Allan of Alhambra was backing onto the roadway from a grass construction entrance.  Allan didn’t see Stolte’s vehicle and backed into the roadway hitting Stolte’s vehicle.  No injuries were reported.

The Christian County Sheriff’s office reported the following to Regional Radio News;

 

The Christian County Sheriff’s office responded to an accident on Thursday morning. 29 year old Troy A. Donaldson Jr. of Blue Mound was headed eastbound on County Highway 2. At 1650 East the driver swerved to miss a deer and entered the north ditch striking a culvert. The vehicle overturned and came to rest facing west in the ditch. No injuries were reported.

 

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office responded to an accident on Thursday morning. 61 year old Peggy S. Brown of Taylorville was traveling northbound on Illinois route 48. Brown hit a a deer at approximately 1055 N Road. No injuries were reported.

55 year old Carol S. Mansfield of Morrisonville was arrested on Friday for a bond forfeiture warrant from a 2018 case. Bond was set at $200. 

 

34 year old James R. Coghlan of Taylorville was arrested on Friday for theft and criminal damage to property.

18 year old Travis J. Sanders of Assumption was arrested Monday for cannabis. 

 

30 year old Keith J. Wheeler of Taylorville was arrested Friday for possession of methamphetamine.

 

18 year old Willie Jr. Jones II of Taylorville was arrested Monday for aggravated battery to a police officer.

 

A juvenile was also arrested Monday for aggravated battery to a police officer as well in the same incident.

 

The Taylorville police department responded to an accident at Grant Court in Taylorville on Saturday afternoon.  49 year old David H. Madus of Taylorville backed his vehicle up and hit a vehicle owned by Horve Construction the vehicle had been driven there by Todd Herbord who was performing construction services on a neighbor's house.  No injuries were reported.  Both drivers exchanged information.

Regional radio news incorrectly put that Travis Sanders was arrested for methamphetamine.  This is not the case. The sheriff's report said he was arrested for cannabis. Regional Radio News apologizes for the misinformation. 
 

Area Arrests, Accidents, And Fire Calls 7/15/19

The Christian County Sheriff’s office reported the following to Regional Radio News;

 

The Christian County Sheriff’s office responded to a vehicle crash on Tuesday morning.  51 year old Erik M. Rover of Roby was headed northbound on County Highway 2 when a deer entered the roadway near 1185 East near Mount Auburn.  The deer went on top of the hood of the vehicle and caused damage to the fender, headlight, and the top driver's side of the front windshield.  No injuries were reported.

 

The Christian County Sheriff’s office responded to a vehicle crash on Wednesday morning.  33 year old Seth G. Reber of Taylorville was traveling southbound on 900 East Road.  Reber swerved to miss a deer and overcorrected coming to rest in a ditch. No injuries were reported.

 

The Christian County Sheriff’s office responded to a vehicle crash on Friday afternoon.  48 year old James C. Williams of Taylorville was headed north on Illinois Route 29 near the intersection of 400 N. Road.  Williams stated that he attempted to pass a tractor that was also traveling north bound.  Williams said something in the front end of his vehicle became loose and he lost control driving off the roadway. Williams hit an embankment in front of 422 Illinois Route 29 and traveled into the yard.  Williams was taken to the hospital with a back injury by POV.

23 year old Hannah R. Harden of Jeiseyville was arrested Friday for theft.

 

30 year old Keith J. Weller of Taylorville was arrested Friday on a warrant.

 

40 year old Brooke P. Key-Peifer of Shelbyville was arrested Sunday on a warrant.

 

18 year old Travis Sanders of Taylorville was arrested Monday for two counts of possession of cannabis.

 

38 year old Jeremy E. Reiss of Pana was arrested for theft of under $300.

 

26 year old Kimberley A. Carrell of Pana was arrested Monday for a warrant.

Shelby County Sheriff’s Office reported the following to Regional Radio News;

 

20-year-old Logan M. Beck of Tower Hill was arrested on the evening of June 27th for driving while license suspended, possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and an active arrest warrant out of Saint Clair County.  

 

27-year-old Wesley A. Sloan of Moweaqua was arrested on the evening of June 30th for domestic battery.

 

60-year-old Stanley E. Ray of Shelbyville was arrested on the afternoon of July 1st for domestic battery. 

 

49-year-old Anthony E. Fox of Troy was arrested July 2nd for vehicle theft.

 

35-year-old Nicholas S. Wensmen of Tower Hill was arrested the evening of July 2nd for battery.

 

20-year-old Tasha F. Johnson of Tower Hill was arrested on July 4th for criminal damage to property of less than $500.  

 

40-year-old Matthew D. Hayes of Stewardson was arrested on July 5th for possession of hypodermic syringes and needles and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon.

 

34-year-old Randy R.L. Reese of Colorado was arrested on July 4th for aggravated battery after an incident on South Myers and South Austin Streets in Herrick.

 

42-year-old Aaron F. Hall of Ramsey was arrested July 6th for driving on a revoked license after a traffic stop on Route 51 just north of 700N.  

 

35-year-old Jacob O. Banning of Pana was arrested the afternoon of July 8th for disorderly conduct after deputies were dispatched to 504 East Freemont Street.

The Christian County Sheriff’s office reported the following to Regional Radio News;

 

34-year-old Charles T. Durbin of Taylorville was arrested on Thursday for violating a protection order.

 

47-year-old Shawna C. Matthews was arrested on Thursday for retail theft.

 

The Taylorville Police Department reported the following to Regional Radio News;

 

41-year-old Clayton W. Sylvester of Taylorville was arrested for driving while license suspended.

 

The Taylorville police department responded to an accident on Tuesday evening at 9:42 at the intersection of Lincoln Trail and Leland Lane. 31-year-old Amber R. Scott of Taylorville was headed east on Lincoln Trail and stated that she was distracted by her phone and exited the roadway.  Scott’s vehicle collided with a guard rail before crashing into a tree. Scott said she had no injuries and had been traveling at a low rate of speed.  The vehicle’s airbags didn’t deploy and no signs of impairment were observed.  The vehicle was towed. Scott was given a citation for failure to provide proof of insurance.  

 

The Taylorville Police Department responded to a vehicle accident on Wednesday morning at 7:59. 69-year-old Karen S. Willar of Taylorville was waiting in traffic to turn left into the parking lot at 1220 Springfield Road. Willar stated she began her turn and there was enough time to make the turn before the next car approached.  Willar says that she saw a motorcycle after she was already turning.  Willar hit the motorcycle driven by 35-year-old MIchael A. Kratz of Kincaid. Kratz was ejected from the motorcycle and went over the hood of Willar’s vehicle.  Kratz was taken to Taylorville Memorial Hospital by Dunn’s Ambulance.  Willar received a citation for failure to yield turning left.

The Pana Police announced July 7th an investigation into Shane A. Mosley.  Mosley is accused of taking cash from Georgia Ward in May.  The case is still under investigation.

 

The Pana Police investigated a civil dispute on June 22nd on the 1000 block of Birch Street.  A report was forwarded to the Christian County States Attorney’s Office for further review.

 

The Pana Police responded to a vehicle accident on June 28th at 650E 1100 North near Pana Lake. A vehicle was traveling south on 650E when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree.  No injuries were reported and the driver of the vehicle is unknown.  The case is under investigation.

 

The Pana Police Department was dispatched to a possible domestic battery on the morning of June 29th.  A suspect was taken into custody.    29-year-old Tyler W. Miller was arrested for domestic battery after the investigation.  He was processed and transported to CCCC in lieu of bond.

 

36-year-old Julie E. Woods of Pana was arrested on July 4th after she turned herself in on a active Christian County Arrest Warrant.  Woods was taken into custody without incident and transported to Christian County Jail.

 

The Pana Police Department was dispatched to the 1000 block of Birch Street on July 5th  due to a male subject acting suspicious and running around in public with no clothes on.  Pana Officers located the subject inside the home of 1005 Birch continuing to act in an erratic way. Pana Officers requested Ambulance and EMS to assist.  The subject was transported to Pana Hospital for medical treatment and evaluation.  No criminal charges were made.

 

The Pana Police Department stopped a vehicle on July 5th at 11:15 PM near North State Street and West Washington Street. The driver 40-year-old Jennifer L. Jones license was suspended and she was issued a citation. The passenger, 36-year-old Sarah R. Alan was issued a citation for illegally transporting alcohol.  Jones was released with a notice to appear.

 

The Pana Police Department responded to a call on the evening of July 4th.  A woman was banging on a vehicle window yelling obscenities at the residence of 400 N. Elm Street.  A investigation is ongoing.

 

The Pana Police Department responded to a call for theft on June 27th.  Glenda S. Garrett reported that her 9-Shot .22 Calibur pistol with black gun case was stolen from her residence at some point between June 19 and June 23rd.  The case is under investigation.

 

The Pana Police Department conducted a traffic stop on July 10th at Jackson and Fairgrounds Road.  William E. Lawrence was arrested for driving while license suspended.  The vehicle was searched after a smell of narcotics from the K-9.  Additional charges of possession of methamphetamine may be filed.  The case is still under investigation.

 

The Pana Police Department responded to a traffic stop on two bicycles on the early morning of July 7th at South Walnut Street and West 3rd Street.  The stop was conducted for operating a bike with no front headlamps.  During the investigation, it was revealed that 24-year-old Cody L. Smith was wanted on an Effingham County warrant.  He was taken into custody and later transported to Christian County Jail.

The Christian County Sheriff’s office responded to a crash Monday morning 36-year-old Charles D. Currie of Coffeen was northbound on Illinois Route 51 and 960 North.  He failed to reduce speed and struck the vehicle driven by 66-year-old Donald M. Barrish of Pana.  Currie received a citation.  Barrish was taken to Pana Community Hospital.

 

The Christian County Sheriff’s office responded to a crash on Monday morning.  A minor from Taylorville was headed southbound on Illinois Route 29 and just north of 1800 North struck a deer.  No injuries were reported.

 

The Christian County Sheriff’s office responded to a crash on the morning of June 28th.  21-year-old Kenneth M. Alcala of Edinburg was traveling northbound on County Highway #5 proceeding towards Township Road 1800 N.  Alcala was pulling a black 2010 load trail trailer.  A grain truck driven by 44-year old Robert L. Hill of Virden stated he stopped at the stop sign marked intersection and looked both ways before proceeding.  He claimed he didn’t see any other vehicles approaching.  Alcala stated he saw Hill stopped at the stop sign.  Alcala applied the brakes leaving 250 feet of skid marks before striking the trailer of Hill.  Alcala’s vehicle was totaled.  Hill received damage to his trailer.  Alcala was airlifted by Saints Flight to St. John’s Hospital for treatment of injuries.  Hill refused treatment.

The Christian County Sheriff’s office responded to a call on the morning of June 29th. 18-year-old Coltin A. Ashley of Pana was traveling northbound on Township Road 2500E about a ½ mile north of Township Road 100 N when a deer entered the road.  Ashley swerved to avoid hitting the deer and exited the roadway to the left, then striking the west ditch. No injuries were reported.

The Christian County Sheriff’s office responded to an accident on Thursday afternoon.  A vehicle driven by 87 year old Lloyd S. Washburn of Morrisonville failed to yield at the intersection of South Spresser and Illinois Route 48 in Taylorville. Washburn hit the vehicle driven by 28 year old Sara A. Hopley of Litchfield.  Hopley’s vehicle was towed from the scene. Washburn received a citation.

 

The Christian County Sheriff’s office responded to an accident Friday morning.  A vehicle driven by 23 year old Clarean V. Wright Khyrsta of Nokomis was southbound on South Spresser in Taylorville.  The vehicle failed to stop at the intersection of Illinois Route 48.  After traveling south through the intersection Wright Khyrsta’s SUV crossed over the northbound lane and began to slide sideways.  It hit the east ditch and became airborne. The SUV flipped several times.  Wright Khyrsta claimed she swerved to miss a deer.  She also stated the crash happened around midnight and that she had been lying outside the vehicle for the past six hours.  Wright Khyrsta was taken to Taylorville Memorial Hospital.  Her vehicle was towed. 

 

The Christian County Sheriff’s office responded to an accident Friday evening.  A vehicle driven by 22 year old Justin M. Bolles was headed on Illinois Route 48 in Taylorville and while near 965 East hit a deer.  No injuries were reported.

The Christian County Sheriff’s office responded to an accident Saturday morning.  A vehicle driven by 18 year old Skylar B. Neal of Pana was headed southbound on Illinois Route 51.  At 151 North the driver swerved to miss a deer.  Neal’s vehicle left the roadway and entered the west ditch.  Neal’s vehicle traveled 90 feet through the ditch than overturned coming to rest upside down.  The occupants left the scene and later returned to the Pana Police Department.  Neal was arrested for illegal consumption of alcohol.  No report of injury.
