On Tuesday, the Pana Police Department reported the following accidents to Regional Radio News:


51-year-old Jeffrey O. Shuff of Nokomis was driving northbound on Poplar St. when he failed to stop at a red light. 58-year-old William O. Cloe of Herrick was driving eastbound on Second St. when he struck Shuff’s vehicle. Both units had minor damage, no one was hurt. Shuff was cited for Disobeying a Traffic Control Signal.


A resident of the 400 block of S. Poplar reported hearing a loud bang outside and saw a pickup truck leaving from behind his 2006 Cadillac that was parked on the north side of his residence. Tire marks indicated that the truck was northbound on Poplar and lost control, sliding sideways up on the boulevard towards the parked car. The front of the truck hit the rear damage of the Cadillac, causing damage to both cars. The case is under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Pana Police.

25-year-old Jacob S. Jaquette of Taylorville was turning into a private lot in the 1200 block of Cheney St. on Wednesday. 43-year-old Sara A. Langan of Taylorville was exiting the same private lot facing west. Because of bright sunlight, Jaquette had an obstructed view and turned too sharply into the lot, hitting the front of Langan’s vehicle. Both vehicles were able to drive away from the scene.

62-year-old Jeffery A. LeFever of Edinburg was pulling out of a private drive on Springfield Rd. Thursday. A 16-year-old female was driving westbound on Springfield Rd. LeFever pulled out in front of the 16-year-old, causing the 16-year-old to brake hard and skid off the roadway. She struck a sign that was in the boulevard of the road. The vehicles did not strike each other and both were able to drive away from the scene.

 

18-year-old John T. Long of Taylorville was driving westbound on Lincoln Trail Tuesday, following behind 19-year-old Mary A. Bone of Assumption. Bone was beginning to turn right onto E. Park St. when Long failed to yield and rear-ended Bone. No one was hurt.

64-year-old Linda G. Robinson of Pana was driving eastbound on Park St. Friday. 36-year-old Lucas K. Price of Canton was stopped at the light at the intersection of Park and Walnut driving eastbound. Robinson did not stop in time and rear-ended Price. Robinson was taken to St. John’s Hospital via ambulance.

 

80-year-old Julia A. Johnston of Taylorville was attempting to get out of the Walgreens parking lot through an exit onto W. Spresser St. that is only intended for entry into the lot Friday. 47-year-old Brett A. Wiseman of Taylorville was driving westbound on W. Vandeveer St. Due to traffic, Wiseman could not see Johnston enter into his lane of travel, and could not stop in time to avoid an accident. Johnston continued to drive away and a passerby followed Johnston to County Rd. 22 just north of Taylorville. After a brief traffic stop, both drivers came to TPD and Johnston received a citation for Failure to Yield Entering from Private Drive.

 

67-year-old Jackie J. Kay of Pana was driving northbound in the Walmart parking lot Saturday. 84-year-old Robert G. Rogers of Kincaid was driving westbound on Virgil Blanch Drive. Kay did not see Rogers as she attempted to turn right and struck Rogers’ passenger side. No one was hurt. Kay failed to yield right of way, but the position of the sun was a factor in the accident. No citations were issued.

On Wednesday, the Christian County Sheriff’s Office reported the following accidents to Regional Radio News:


52-year-old Tina M. Jobe of Pana was driving westbound on Rt. 16 Saturday. Just east of 2300 E. Rd., the driver stated that she was arguing with the passenger in the car and did not know what happened. The passenger said he and the driver were arguing and the driver jerked the wheel, causing them to go off the road and overturn. Jobe lost control on the roadway while traveling westbound and overturned into the ditch, with the vehicle coming to rest on its top. The driver and back seat passenger with both taken to Pana Community Hospital for unknown injuries.


68-year-old James D. Badman of Palmer was driving southbound on Rt. 48 Wednesday. At approximately 1540 N., Badman attempted to pass 58-year-old Laverne E. Pownall of Taylorville in the northbound lane. Badman entered back into the southbound lane while passing Pownall and collided with his vehicle. Pownall's passenger was taken to Taylorville Memorial Hospital via ambulance.

Taylor told police that his vision was obscured due to frost on the windshield and he turned prior to the driveway causing a collision with a utility box and utility pole.

55-year-old Virgil E. Easley of Kincaid was driving southbound on Webster St.  Tuesday, looking to turn left into the KFC parking lot. A 16-year-old male was driving northbound on Webster St. Easley did not yield to the 16-year-old and the two vehicles collided in the northbound lane of Webster St. No one was hurt. Easley was cited for Failure to Yield Turning Left.

23-year-old Blake C. Durbin of Morrisonville was driving eastbound on Route 48 Friday when he crossed into the oncoming lane under the train trussel and hit the curb. Durbin did not report the accident, officers later learned about the accident. Durbin was issued citations Saturday for Improper Lane Usage, Illegal Transportation of Alcohol (Driver), Leaving the Scene of an Accident, and Operating an Uninsured Vehicle.

 

On Sunday, an unknown vehicle struck and damaged the street sign at Stevenson and Cherokee Streets. The vehicle left the scene in an unknown direction.

 

On Thursday, the Christian County Sheriff’s Office reported the following accident to Regional Radio News:


On Wednesday afternoon, the Christian County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a two-vehicle crash on 2500 E. Rd. approximately a quarter of a mile south of 200 N. Rd. Pana Ambulance, Fire, EMS, Police, and the Christian County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene. The two drivers, and three passengers in one vehicle were all taken to area hospitals via ambulance. The condition of those injured are unknown at this time. Preliminary investigation indicates one vehicle was southbound and the other was northbound and the two vehicles collided in a partial head-on crash in the northbound side of 2500 E. Rd. The sheriff’s office is continuing to investigate the crash.

41-year-old Richard L. Baker of Formoso, Kansas struck a power pole guide wire Saturday causing damage to his vehicle. Baker was cited for Improper Parking on Roadway, Failure to Reduce Speed for an Accident, and Driving While License Suspended. His passenger, 30-year-old Ashley N. Getz of Pana was cited for Illegal Transportation as a Passenger.

 

26-year-old Jordan D. Miles of Nokomis was backing from a driveway in the 500 block of N. Poplar on Sunday when he struck the parked vehicle of 30-year-old John J. Stivers of Pana. Stivers’ vehicle was parked across the street and had moderate damage. Miles’ vehicle had minor damage.

 

46-year-old Rebecca A. Russell of Pana had her car parked at Cindy’s Lounge on Monday. She reported to police that an unknown vehicle struck the front passenger side of her vehicle and left the scene.

 

A 16-year-old male was driving northbound on Chestnut St. at 6th St. Tuesday. 17-year-old Larissa D. Swisher of Assumption was driving eastbound on 6th St. The 16-year-old says his brakes failed and he was unable to stop at the intersection, causing a collision with Swisher’s vehicle. The 16-year-old was cited for Disobeying Traffic Control Device.

24-year-old Zachary P. Clutter of Pana was arrested Tuesday for Domestic Battery.

 

 

40-year-old Nicholas R. Dooley of Nokomis was arrested Tuesday on a Bond Forfeiture warrant. Bond is set at $5,000.

 

 

On Wednesday, the Christian County Sheriff’s Office reported the following accidents to Regional Radio News:

 

 

A 16-year-old was driving westbound on Route 104 Tuesday. She turned onto 1075 E Rd. While turning, she went into the oncoming lane and hit a UPS truck driven by 29-year-old Brian A. Seaton of Springfield head-on. Seaton was stopped at the stop sign on 1075 E. Rd. at Route 104. No one was hurt. The 16-year-old was issued a citation for Improper Lane Usage.

 

 

52-year-old Jesus M. Villar, Jr. of Shelbyville was driving southbound on 2600 E. Rd. Tuesday, approaching the intersection with 100 N. Rd. 34-year-old Christina M. Gibson of Chula Vista, California was driving eastbound on 100 N. Rd. approaching the same intersection. There are no stop signs from either of the directions the two were coming towards the intersection. Gibson struck the passenger side of Villar’s vehicle. No one was hurt.
