On April 18, a complaint was filed for illegal dumping of construction materials, including windows, plywood, and drywall into the dumpster at the Walmart in Pana. The case is under investigation.

On Monday, 35-year-old Eric C. Holley was traveling north on Elizabeth Street from Magnolia Avenue. 36-year-old Jeremy T. Stark was traveling southbound on Elizabeth Street approaching Magnolia Avenue. Holley crossed into the southbound lane and hit Stark head-on. Holley was issued an improper lane usage citation.

On Monday, 32-year-old Nicole L. Martell was driving southbound on Hickory at First Street where she hit a stop sign. She left the scene and then hit a power pole in the 500 block of East Second Street, leaving major damage to the pole and her car. She was arrested on multiple counts, including DUI of combination of alcohol and other drugs. She was released with a mandatory court date.

On Tuesday, 22-year-old Amelia R. Akins was traveling west on East Jefferson. Akins says she was putting her phone down and was not looking when she hit the parked car of Leslie Lindsay. Akins was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

On Wednesday, Pana Police received a call about a man holding a knife to another man's throat. Upon police arrival, 34-year-old Ryan D. Nance was taken into custody for Aggravated Robbery and Domestic Battery. 27-year-old Dylan S. Beeson was taken into custody on a Coles County warrant. 28-year-old Jonathan P Hrabek was arrested on a Shelby County Warrant. Nance was transported to the Christian County Correctional Center, Beeson posted cash bond and was released. Hrabek was transported to the Shelby County Correctional Center.

38-year-old Dustin D. Theivagt was traveling eastbound on County Route 20 towards the intersection with County Route 5. He ran across Route 5 and flipped, landing in the ditch on the other side of route 5. Three people were transported to Memorial Medical Center.

30-year-old Deanna K. Goebel was southbound on Illinois Route 48 just north of Clarksdale. A deer ran into the path and Goebel struck the deer. No injuries were reported.

ACCIDENTS:

29 year old Christopher J. Wessling of Taylorville was westbound on County Road 1100 North. At about 1875 East, Wessling left the roadway and entered the north ditch. Wessling struck a bridge rail and received passenger side damage. No injuries were reported.

ACCIDENTS:

On March 16th 22 year old Quinten W. Christopher of Edinburg said he was driving 70 mph in a 65 mph zone, and had been drinking. Christopher lost control on the wet roads, and hit the bridge on the south side of the divided highway on Route 29, causing the vehicle to slide across the roadway and ending up in the north ditch. Christopher walked to a nearby residence and called the police. Christopher was issued two citations for failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and another for driving too fast for the road conditions. It was reported that Christopher was taken to Taylorville Memorial Hospital via Dunns ambulance for treatment.

ACCIDENTS:

22 year old Wesley A. Gordon of Pawnee was heading eastbound on County Highway 2, in a four wheel drive John Deer tractor, leading a line of several similar tractors. 46 year old Lisa M. Hull-Crawford of Springfield was attempting to pass the tractors, when Gordon turned left and struck the right side of Hull-Crawford’s vehicle with the front left tire of the tractor. Hull-Crawford skid in the road, eventually sliding off the roadway before striking a line of trees in the south ditch, and was transported by Dunns Ambulance from the scene. Gordon reported no injuries, and also reported that he may have been over the center line a couple of feet.

50 year old Lonnie R. Boswell of Ramsey was southbound on IL Route 29. Just south of Sunset Drive, a deer ran into the path of Boswell. Boswell struck the deer with the front of the vehicle causing damage. No injuries were reported.

ACCIDENTS:

On April 5th 36 year old Lynette E. Wiseman of Fenton was traveling south on the 100 block of South Washington Street. Wiseman said the vehicle was having problems with it’s steering. Wiseman veered off the roadway and into the parking area on the west side of the Christian County Courthouse. Wiseman struck two cars that were legally parked. No injuries were reported.

On April 7th a 17 year old male juvenile was traveling eastbound in the 200 block of east market, with several passengers. The juvenile veered to the right, and struck the back end of a vehicle parked on the road, which in turn struck another vehicle, which then struck another vehicle. The driver and passengers then fled the scene on foot and were apprehended later in the evening at another location. A passenger of the vehicle was taken to Taylorville Memorial Hospital and then to Memorial Medical Center to be treated for injuries. The driver was taken to TMH for treatment of injuries by his mother. After treatment, the driver was arrested for DUI, leaving the scene of an accident that caused personal injury, reckless driving and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

ACCIDENTS:

25 year old Remington S. Hatfield of Shelbyville was heading north on County Road 2600 east. Hatfield traveled off the road to the left and struck the west ditch, overturning and coming to a rest on the driver’s side of the vehicle. Hatfield refused medical treatment on scene.

19 year old Victoria A. Fikan of Oakley was eastbound on 1100 north road. As the driver approached the intersection of 700 east road, she lost control and entered the north ditch. The other vehicle continued traveling north striking a livestock fence. No injuries were reported.

29 year old Kenton C. Durham of Pana was heading west on 6th street. Just west of 2600 East, Durham lost control and ran off the roadway, striking the ditch and damaging the front of the vehicle. No injuries were reported.

On April 3rd 60 year old Cheryl L. Bliesner of Stonington was southbound on County Highway 22 and was slowing to make a right turn onto Township Road 1600 North. 18 year old Christian B. Allen of Stonington was also traveling southbound on County Highway 22 and was behind Bliesner. Allen said he went to take a drink and when he looked up, Bliesner had slowed, and he was unable to avoid striking Bliesner. No injuries were reported.

ACCIDENTS:

On April 1st 39 year old Justin B. Langan of Taylorville was southbound on Township Road 1600 East near Township Road 800 North. Langan swerved to miss some deer, exited the roadway to the west, and entered the ditch. Langan continued in the ditch until re-entering the roadway, overcorrected, and then exited the roadway to the east. Langan’s vehicle struck the east ditch and overturned into a field. Langan’s vehicle came back to rest on it’s wheels and drove out of the field. No injuries were reported.
