Murphysboro Defeats Taylorville

As heard on WTIM, Your information station, the Murphysboro Red Devils defeated the Taylorville Tornadoes in round one of the IHSA Football Playoffs, 49-13. Clark Rahar was nominated as the Brandon Bible Country Financial Player Of The Game. Both Rahar and Barron Odam scored touchdowns in the losing effort. Taylorville finish their season 5-5.

Shelbyville High School Football Head Coach Shares Playoffs Thoughts

Shelbyville High School Football finished the regular season with a record of 8-1 and now prepares for round one of the Central Illinois Conference Playoffs. Taking their only loss to Nashville High School last Friday has not discouraged the team, says Bill Duckett Head Coach of the Shelbyville Rams.


Coach Duckett spoke live on the Prairie Farms Pigskin Playoff Preview on Saturday and spoke about Friday's loss, predicted second-seed reactions, and how the community has responded to the successful Shelbyville Football team.

 


Shelbyville is no stranger to the playoff spotlight as last year the Rams finished 9-2. Coach Duckett expands on his team's winning record this year.

 


Duckett describes his favorite moment from the season, winning the conference for the first time in 30 years, and the community support.

 


The Shelbyville Rams Football team looks to their first match-up for round one of the playoffs, taking on Wesclin High School, on Friday at 1:00 P.M. at home.
 

Taylorville High School Football Head Coach Speaks On Upcoming Playoff Appearance

The Taylorville Tornado Football Team has earned their spot in the Apollo Conference Playoffs, finishing the year 5-4 and bested Civic Memorial High School in a must-win final regular season game last Friday. This is the first playoff appearance for the Tornadoes since their dominant 9-1 season in 2018-2019, ending their season with a loss to Rochester.


Now with a new opponent in the 8-1 Murphysboro High School Football team, Taylorville has their sights set for this Saturday.


Jeb Odam, Head Coach of the Taylorville Varsity Football Team was live on the Prairie Farms Pigskin Playoff Preview last Saturday and spoke on the successful season while celebrating with the team during their playoff party. Odam spoke on the importance of the Friday night win and how the team has come together on and off the field.

 


Odam spoke about some of his weapons on the field, bringing up the offensive and defensive lines and their contributions, along with the skill players like Clark Rahar, that never go unnoticed.

 


With a tough match-up in Murphysboro, placing first and playing perfectly in the Southern Illinois River to River Conference, finishing 4-0. Taylorville is not familiar with Murphysboro and will need to prepare for a new team.

Taylorville will head south to Murphysboro High School this Saturday at 3:00 P.M. for round one of the playoffs.

As heard on WTIM and WMKR, EIU defeated Bryant by a final score of 25-24.

Taylorville Football Defeats Civic Memorial

The Taylorville Tornadoes defeated the Civic Memorial Eagles 35-9. The Brandon Bible Country Financial Player of the Game goes to the entire Taylorville Offensive Line.

Windsor Stewart Strasburg Defeats Tuscola In Volleyball

Windsor Stewart Strasburg defeated Tuscola in Volleyball Monday night in two sets with scores 25-14, 25-20.  The Hatchets improved to 29-5 on the season. Hatchet Head coach Ronda Schlechte says that She felt like the girls haven't played this well together in quite a while and it was nice to see them clicking so well.  Seniors Ella Kineklaar, Gabby Vonderheide, Halle Momaw, Anna Albert, Ainslie Eident, and Sofia Depoitre, who is a foreign exchange student, were recognized.

As heard on WTIM and WMKR, EIU lost to Southeast Missour i State by a final score of 35-28.

Charleston Defeats Taylorville Football

As heard on WTIM Your Information Station, the Charleston Trojans defeated the Taylorville Tornadoes by a final score of 55-12. Clark Rahar Named Brandon Bible Country Financial Player of The Game.

Eastern Illinois Footbal

As heard on WTIM and WMKR, EIU lost to UT Martin by a final score of 28-27 after overtime.

Taylorville Football WINS

The Taylorville Tornadoes beat the Mattoon Green Wave 28-21.  Jake McConnell named the Brandon Bible Country Financial Player of the game.
