Taylorville High School Football Head Coach Speaks On Upcoming Playoff Appearance

The Taylorville Tornado Football Team has earned their spot in the Apollo Conference Playoffs, finishing the year 5-4 and bested Civic Memorial High School in a must-win final regular season game last Friday. This is the first playoff appearance for the Tornadoes since their dominant 9-1 season in 2018-2019, ending their season with a loss to Rochester.


Now with a new opponent in the 8-1 Murphysboro High School Football team, Taylorville has their sights set for this Saturday.


Jeb Odam, Head Coach of the Taylorville Varsity Football Team was live on the Prairie Farms Pigskin Playoff Preview last Saturday and spoke on the successful season while celebrating with the team during their playoff party. Odam spoke on the importance of the Friday night win and how the team has come together on and off the field.

 


Odam spoke about some of his weapons on the field, bringing up the offensive and defensive lines and their contributions, along with the skill players like Clark Rahar, that never go unnoticed.

 


With a tough match-up in Murphysboro, placing first and playing perfectly in the Southern Illinois River to River Conference, finishing 4-0. Taylorville is not familiar with Murphysboro and will need to prepare for a new team.

Taylorville will head south to Murphysboro High School this Saturday at 3:00 P.M. for round one of the playoffs.
