Taylorville Falls to Mt. Zion in Apollo Conference Match

The Taylorville Tornado Boys Basketball Squad took the loss to the Mt. Zion Brave with a score of 74-39.

The Brandon Bible Country Financial Player of the Game is Clark Durbin.

Taylorville Lady Tornadoes Secure Apollo Conference Championship

The Lady Tornadoes picked up their 21st win over the Mattoon Green Wave with a 61-39 victory at Dolph Stanley Court in Taylorville.  The win guarantees the Tornadoes an Apollo Conference Championship--their first since 2015.

 

The Tornadoes were led by Brandon Bible Country Financial Player of the game Senior Olivia "Lulu" Woodward who dropped 11 points and was phenomenal on defense, rebounds, and assists. Junior Addison Tarr led the Tornado scoring efforts with 22 points. Mazie Fleming had 9 points and 2 blocks. Kyleigh Heimsness finished with 8 points plus a few steals. Grace Rogers, Hallie Lowis, and Aubrey Kietzman contributed to the scoring effort as well including a 24-13 3rd quarter. 

 

Tornadoes will play again on Friday night as they take on Apollo Conference foe; the Bulldogs of Mahomet-Seymour.  Tornadoes improve to 21-6 (8-0).  Mattoon falls to 18-7 (5-3).  

Taylorville Girls Pick Up Share Of Apollo Conference Championship With Win Over Charleston

The Taylorville Lady Tornadoes secured their 20th victory of the season, picking up a 71-51 victory over the Charleston Trojans on Monday night on Senior Night at the Dolph.  Juniors Addison Tarr and Kyleigh Heimsness picked up 20 points each and the Tornadoes secured at least a share of the Apollo Conference Championship.  If the Tornadoes can beat the Mattoon Green Wave tomorrow they will secure their first Apollo Conference Championship since 2015. Charleston kept the score close for the most part with 10 threes but the Tornadoes would use a balanced attack and a heavy rebound day to secure the win.

 

The Tornadoes have a busy week this week with games against Mattoon, Mahomet, and Mt Vernon all in Taylorville. A big shout out to the seniors of the team, Megan Cjakowski, Hallie Lowis, Lulu Woodward, Jessi Wright, and Aubrey Kietzman. 

 

Heimsness was named the Brandon Bible Country Financial Player of the game. The Tornadoes take on Mattoon tomorrow evening. The pregame show will take place around 7:15 PM. 

Taylorville Girls Win In Normal

The Taylorville Tornadoes picked up a much needed win on the road in Normal against the U High Pioneers.  The Tornadoes cruised to a 24-3 lead at halftime before picking up the 41-10 victory.  Addison Tarr was named the Brandon Bible Country Financial Player of the game. Tornadoes will have a day off before Senior Night vs Charleston on Monday evening. 

Tornado Boys Basketball Fall to Charleston

The Taylorville Tornado Boys Basketball squad was defeated by the Charleston Trojans with a score of 51-36. The Brandon Bible Country Financial Player of the Game is Owen Yonker.

Taylorville Girls Suffer Loss To Lincoln

The Lady Tornadoes suffered a 72-32 loss to Lincoln in Taylorville on Thursday evening. Mazie Fleming and Aubrey Kietzman both finished with 13 points. Fleming was named the Brandon Bible Country Financial player of the game. Tornadoes head out on the road to play in Normal on Saturday afternoon. 

Taylorville Girls Win In Litchfield

Taylorville traveled to Litchfield and picked up a win over the Purple Panthers 50-25.  Mazie Fleming was named the Brandon Bible Country Financial Player of the Game. Tornadoes play Lincoln on Thursday.  

Taylorville Boys Basketball Finish 2-2 in Rick McGraw Memorial Tournament

The Taylorville Boys Basketball Team took the win over the Hillsboro Hilltoppers with a score of 75-62. The Brandon Bible Country Financial Player of the Game is Clark Durbin. Durbin carried the Tornadoes in the first 16 minutes of the game, finishing with 25 points. 

Taylorville Boys Take the Win Over Father McGivney

The Taylorville Tornado Boys Varsity Basketball squad takes a big win over the Father McGivney Griffins 65-54 in game three of the Rick McGraw Memorial Invitational Tournament. The Brandon Bible Country Financial Player of the Game is Drake Howard. The junior has come back strong from an injury, played and started in his first game of the year picking up his first points and adding a new threat to the Taylorville lineup.

Taylorville Boys Basketball Defeated in Game Two of Tournament

The Tornado Boys Basketball Team drops game two of the Rick McGraw Memorial Invitational to the Greenville Comets, 50-29. The Brandon Bible Country Financial Player of the Game is Landon Bowsher. The Sophmore shut down on defense in the second half of the ball game. 
The Tornados look to their next matchup at Litchfield High School on Thursday, time and opponent to be announced. 

 

Taylorville Boys Drop Game One of Rick McGraw Memorial Invitational

Taylorville Boys Baskeball lose game one of the Litchfield Tournament to the Mattoon Green Wave 64-44. The Brandon Bible Country Financial Player of the Game is Blake Ladage. Taylorville looks to Monday to take on Greenville at 5:30 p.m. at Litchfield High School. 

Taylorville Boys Basketball Defeat Effingham at Home

The Taylorville Boys Basketball Squad beat the Effingham Flaming Hearts with authority, 67-45. Clark Durbin is named the Brandon Bible Country Financial Player of the Game. Clark flew around Thursday night, leading the full court press and the overwhelming the Effingham offense for all 4 quarters. Taylorville picks up their first Apollo Confrence win on the season .

Taylorville Girls Improve To 16-3; Pick Up Win Vs Effingham

The Taylorville Tornadoes picked up a big Apollo Conference win against the Effingham Flaming Hearts winning 54-41.  Tornadoes put in seven 3-pointers in the first quarter to jump out to a 21-9 lead.  The Hearts battled back in the second and third even coming within one point, but the Tornadoes used a huge fourth quarter to extend their lead.  The Tornadoes never trailed in the game.  Addison Tarr was named the Brandon Bible Country Financial Player of the Game.  Taylorville improves to 16-3 6-0 in the conference, while Effingham drops to 16-4,3-3 in the conference. 

Taylorville Drops Taylorville Shootout Match

The Taylorville Boys Basketball Team was defeated by the Canton Little Giants with a score of 63-45. The Brandon Bible Country Financial Player of the Game is Clark Durbin. 

Tarr Scores 1,000 As Taylorville Win

Addison Tarr scored her 1,000 point as Taylorville girls picked up a 40-35 victory over the Paris Tigers.  Tarr scored her 1,000 off a runner in the second quarter with about 45 seconds left that got the crowd completely going wild.  Tarr joins 13 other girls who are part of the 1,000 points club.  Tarr joins this club as a Junior, who missed some time last year due to injury.  She says she couldn't have done it without the help from her teammates.

 

The Tigers took care of the ball well, having long offensive shifts, but Taylorville got the last laugh as Aubrey Kietzman hit a huge three and the Tornadoes hung on for the victory as time expired. The Tornadoes improved to 15-3. Taylorville will take on Effingham on January 9th. 

Taylorville Girls Cruise To Victory In Williamsville

Lady Tornadoes improved to 13-3 with a 77-24 win over the Williamsville Bullets.  Kyleigh Heimsness was the Brandon Bible Player of the game, but a big shoutout to Elizabeth Martin who got her first varsity points, with a corner 3-pointer late in the fourth quarter. The Tornadoes will take on Decatur MacArthur on Thursday evening in Decatur.
