A former Taylorville girls’ basketball coach is going to be inducted to the Illinois Basketball Coaches’ Association Hall of Fame. The announcement came Thursday afternoon that Curt Dobbs will be in the IBCA’s 2017 Hall of Fame Class.
Dobbs coached at Taylorville from the 1988 to 1994. He posted an 88 and 73 record over the 6 seasons with two regional titles. He then went on to Olney where he racked up almost 300 wins as the girls’ basketball coach there.
Dobbs says one of his biggest games in Olney actually was a defeat to his old friends from Taylorville.
Dobbs says installing the Loyola-Marymount system of play into the Taylorville girls’ program brought the town together.
Freshmen on Dobbs’ final season in Taylorville were the team that led the Tornadoes to a second place finish in the state of Illinois and a 34 and 1 record in 1997.
