Lake Land College is inviting community members of all ages to explore the world of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) during its first-ever Community STEM Night in Effingham.

The event is scheduled for Wednesday, August 5th from 5 until 7 PM at the Lake Land College Innovation Center, found on the first floor of the Effingham Technology Center, located at 1201 Althoff Drive in Effingham.

This year's STEM night will place a special focus on video game development. Lake Land College staff will provide demonstrations and hands-on instruction, giving attendees an opportunity to learn more about the technology and skills that go into creating video games.

Participants won't just be watching demonstrations. Community members will also have the chance to practice coding and design their own video games during the event. Those attending are encouraged to bring a flash drive so they can save their projects and take their creations home with them.

College officials say the event is designed to provide an engaging learning experience while showcasing the high-tech educational equipment and resources available through Lake Land College's Innovation Center.

The event is open to all ages and no registration is required, making it an easy opportunity for families, students and technology enthusiasts to explore STEM-related fields in an interactive setting.
