(Taylorville) — Kiwanis members welcomed Taylorville’s head football coach to their Tuesday luncheon at the Taylorville Moose Lodge.

Odam fills several positions related to sports while serving as head football coach including chair of the Taylorville Sports Hall of Fame along with his position as a Division II baseball umpire.

Odam’s presentation focused on the THS Sports Hall of Fame giving recognition to Dave Hixenbaugh for his commitment to overseeing the hall for over 30 years. Over these years many Taylorville athletes have been inducted into the Hall of Fame. An interactive video screen has been located in the west gymnasium lobby featuring memorable THS sporting events and those associated with the Taylorville sports program. Much of the information was made available through a donation from the Slick Parrish Family. Recently, eight new Hall of Fame showcases have been installed in the area of the west gymnasium.

Many videos associated with the THS Sports Hall of Fame can be viewed on YouTube by searching “THS Hall of Fame.” Odam reminded Kiwanis members that the THS Hall of Fame banquet will be held on September 19th at the Pillars Event Center.

The Taylorville Kiwanis Club is part of a global organization focused on supporting youth and the local community. Weekly meetings are held Tuesdays at noon at the Taylorville Moose Lodge.
