Taylorville City Council To Meet Remotely On Monday

The Taylorville City Council will meet on Monday evening. Due to the Governor’s stay at home order members of the general public are prohibited from attending this meeting in person. Any person who wishes to address the City Council during this meeting may send an email during this meeting to Mayor Bruce Barry at mayorbarry@taylorville.net.

During the meeting, ordinances involving the Taylorville City Code and approving the use of BDD Tax Funds for the demolition of work at 204 East Main Cross will be discussed. Some motions to be argued and approved/denied include awarding bids for curbs and gutters, approving contracting with IEPA Division of Laboratory for sampling, increasing the number of UTV permits by ten to a total number of 35, ceasing all spending of the 2% Utility Tax Ward account, and approving the Treasurer’s report.

There will be a motion to accept the resignation of Deputy Clerk Cindy Dey effective May 1st and hire her as an independent contractor and not as a City employee.

The meeting will wrap up with City Attorney and Mayoral updates and a closed session. Stay tuned to Regional Radio News for more on the City Council meeting after its completion.
