Governor Sees Light At The End Of COVID-19 Tunnel

The light on the other side of COVID-19 is getting brighter. That is the message that Illinois Governor JB Pritzker put out at today’s press conference. Through statistical analysis and looking at doubling rates which take a look at how many days before case counts double, Governor Pritzker says the state is doing better as a whole.

The rates have gone from 2 days at the start of the pandemic in Illinois to 8.2 days. That shows that it is slowing at a tremendous rate and flattening the curve. The hospitalization data is also showing improvements.

There were 1,222 new cases of COVID-19 diagnosed yesterday including 74 deaths. This brings the total to 23,247 positive tests with 868 deaths in 88 counties. Director of Public Health Dr. Ngozi Ezike says that people have been responding to their surveys and people that responded after 28 days, 69% reported feeling better. Dr. Ezike says we have to continue to stay the course.
