Coming up this Labor day Weekend, the first annual Tenleigh Stokes Softball Tournament will be held in Taylorville. The tournament is held to help raise funds fo Tenleigh Stokes who was born 8 weeks premature at Saint Johns Children Hospital in Springfield. Stokes currently suffers from Thoracic Insufficiency Syndrome, and she has to have surgery in Philadelphia multiple times throughout the year. The purpose of the softball tournament is to fund raise for the Stokes family to help them pay for the surgeries. Joe Schmitz, who has played a key role in getting this tournament ready explains how he got involved.
It has taken a lot of work to put this tournament together, but it is all for a good cause. Schmitz reflected on what it took to get this tournament set up, and he had some people to thank because he could not have done it himself.
