An accident Sunday night (12-14) in Assumption sent a man to the hospital.

The Christian County Sheriff's Office says they were called out just before 10:00pm to the scene across from Freedom Oil and Gas. The deputy said it appeared that the vehicle had gone through a T-intersection, crashing into a concrete barrier and then into the corner of a building.

 The driver, 46 year-old Steven V. Turner II of Flora was trapped inside. The Assumption Fire Department was summoned. After extricating Turner from the vehicle, he was taken to St. Mary's Hospital in Decatur. He was then transferred to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, where is reportedly listed in serious condition.
