Autopsy Confirms Human Remains Found in Rochester

Sangamon County Coroner Cinda Edwards reports that a forensic autopsy was performed Tuesday morning on the remains discovered in a shed located in Rochester on Saturday and it was confirmed that they are human remains.  The exam was conducted at Memorial Medical Center by Dr. Patterson.  An anthropologist was in attendance for consultation.  After the exam, it has been determined the remains are most likely those of a white female.  The cause of death is undetermined and identification is pending.  The Illinois State Police is conducting the criminal investigation.  The Sangamon County Coroner’s Office continues to work on identification.
