Taylorville Mayor Proclaims June 1-7 as ?Paint the Town Purple? at Council Meeting

The Taylorville City Council met Monday night. Mayor Greg Brotherton started the meeting by reading a proclamation in support of “Paint the Town Purple”:

Lisa Sims with the American Cancer Society was in attendance to accept the proclamation.


The Taylorville City Council heard an update at their Monday night meeting on several properties they are pursuing possession of in order to demolish run down buildings. City Attorney Rocci Romano tells the Council the latest:

The Council has been actively pursuing properties with run down buildings to remove several eyesores in the community.



The Taylorville City Council received another update at their meeting Monday night on a possible lawsuit that was mentioned at the previous meeting over a freedom of information request. City Attorney Rocci Romano told the Council where they are at in that situation:

The freedom of information request made included things such as personal phone numbers for officers that were involved which is exempt under disclosure.


The Taylorville City Council approved the Plan Commission’s recommendation of the William L. Hager First Addition Minor Subdivision Location Map and Final Plat. The Council approved an ordinance to ascertain the prevailing rate of wages for laborers, workmen and mechanics employed on public works of the City of Taylorville. The Council also approved a motion to direct the City Attorney to prepare an ordinance placing stop signs on Bidwell Street at Snodgrass.

The meeting adjourned at 7:45pm.
