Taylorville City Council Votes to Close East Adams Crossing

The Taylorville City Council was presented with a motion at their Monday night meeting to accept Norfolk Southern Corporation’s proposal and proceed with the closing of the East Adams Street crossing. Alderman Shawn Burtle said he was voting no on the issue and explained why:

The Council voted to approve the proposal and close the crossing on a 6-1 vote.

 

The Taylorville City Council heard an update at their meeting Monday night in regards to one local business that had violated their liquor license. City Attorney Rocci Romano tells the Council the latest:

Romano says that under the Mayor’s direction, he will file a small claims complaint to collect the money.

New fireman Michael Joyner takes the Oath of Office

The Taylorville City Council swore in new fireman Michael Joyner at their meeting. The Council approved the reappointment of Nina Wunderlich and Marie Bard to the Library Board of Trustees and the appointment Patrick Jeschke to the Library Board of Trustees. The Council also approved the motion to hire Jim Smith as Municipal Band Director, Reggie Hohenstein as Band Librarian, and Jan Phillips as Band Manager for the 2014 concert season. The Council approved a motion to allow Police Chief Dave Herpstreith to prepare and submit the application for the 2014 COPS Hiring Grant.
