Rooney Appeared in Taylorville

A Hollywood legend who passed away this weekend had a Taylorville connection.  Mickey Rooney, who died Sunday at the age of 93, came to Central Illinois for his performance of “Let's put on a Show”, a one man stage show the entertainer toured the country with.  Rooney, who was one of the country's biggest stars for decades, appeared at the old Nashville North venue.  He stayed at the Market Street Inn while in Taylorville.  The appearance was sponsored by the Greater Taylorville Chamber of Commerce. Rooney, who was born Joseph Yule, Jr., died Sunday at the age of 93.
