A Taylorville resident was arrested on Friday after an incident involving a handgun. Around 11:57am, Taylorville Police Department officers responded to a disturbance in the 600 block of West First Street. Upon arrival, officers spoke to all parties involved. It was alleged that the suspect, 67-year-old Delmar Oats of Taylorville, threatened the victim with a small handgun. Oats was found to be in possession of a Kel-Tech .380 handgun. Oats was taken into custody without incident. Oats was charged with aggravated assault and was released on a notice to appear.
