IDOT Announces Route 51 Public Hearings

The Illinois Department of Transportation will hold a series of open house public hearings to present the remaining alternatives of US 51 from the Christian/Shelby County line to the Village of Irvington in Washington County.  The general scope of work for this improvement is to widen and reconstruct the two-lane roadway to a four-lane divided expressway. The project may affect Oconee, Ramsey, Vandalia, Shobonier, Patoka, Vernon, Sandoval, Central City, Centralia, and Wamac. The first public hearing will be this Wednesday from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the Centralia American Best Value Inn on 209 West Bond Avenue in Centralia.
