Nearly 200 people attended Thursday night’s Loving Arms Crisis Pregnancy Center Annual Banquet at the Taylorville Memorial Hospital auditorium.

Following dinner, Steffan Campos and Chris Hallam performed, then center executive director Cathy Coker gave her annual report.

Amber Rice, a former client of Loving Arms, then gave her testimony about how the center helped her and her family spiritually and materially after the birth of a child 4 years ago.

Guest speaker for the evening was Shawn Carney, executive director of the “40 Days for Life” campaign that has organized 40 days of prayer and fasting for an end to abortion, in cities around the world. The effort started in his hometown of College Station, Texas, in 2004, and has spread to all 50 states and 21 countries.

Carney encouraged those in attendence to remain involved in the local crisis pregnancy center efforts, because he says the solution to the abortion battle must be local.

The Center had some 529 visits, and 25 known live births as a result, last year. The annual Loving Arms Banquet is the non-profit organization’s biggest fund-raiser.
