Taylorville Kiwanis Hear About Taylorville Christmas Home Tour at Weekly Meeting

 

 width=The upcoming Taylorville Tourism Council Christmas Home Tour, was the topic of Tuesday’s program at the weekly meeting of the Taylorville Kiwanis Club at the Taylorville Memorial Hospital auditorium.

Tourism Council co-president Carol Alexander, and special guest Norma Doyle, were the guest speakers. Alexander promoted the upcoming Christmas Home Tour at 6 Taylorville locations December 6th and 7th, including the home of Norma Doyle who was the program’s special guest.

Doyle told about being an artist since the age of 14. Doyle’s drawings promoted high school events while she was at Taylorville High School in the 1940’s.

Doyle went on to become a long-time artist on greeting cards for the Sangamon Company in Taylorville.

Many of her works will be on display in her home during the upcoming Christmas Home Tour, including a water color painting of a young woman which she painted at age 19, and is featured on the cover of the Home Tour brochure.

Doyle told the Kiwanis Club she was so surprised at the notoriety she’s received recently as a result of her drawings.
