Master Gardener Training Offered in Taylorville

The University of Illinois Extension Office is offering Master Gardener training in Taylorville beginning January 2014. Sessions will be on Fridays from 9 am to 4 pm beginning January 31st until April 11th. Master Gardeners participate in more than 60 hours of training taught by U of I specialists and Extension

educators. Upon completion of training, a person becomes a Master Gardener Intern and will contribute 60 hours of volunteer service within a two-year time period to become an active Master Gardener. To maintain active Master Gardener status, volunteers must obtain a minimum of 10 hours of continuing education and volunteer 30 hours of community service per year at a recognized Master Gardener project.

Class size is limited. Each applicant will have an informal interview and screening process. Applications are due Nov. 1, 2013. There is a $175.00 program fee, which is due by December 15, 2013. If you are interested, contact Andrew Holsinger at 532-3941.
