On May 15, 2013 around 5:23pm, Lila L Perino, 77, of Carlinville was eastbound on Illinois Route 108 at Standard City Road.  Brandon Hunt, 33, of Taylorville was westbound. At that time, Perino attempted to make a left turn onto Standard City Road and turned into the path of Hunt. Hunt applied his brakes and attempted to stop, but was unsuccessful and crashed into the passenger side of Perino in the westbound lane. Hunt was transported to St John's Hospital by helicopter due to serious injuries. Perino was not injured during the crash and was charged for failure to yield when turning left.
