The Taylorville City Council held their last meeting of 2012 last evening and one of the first issues discussed was the S.A.F.E.R Grant given to the Taylorville Fire Department.
Alderman Shawn Burtle of Ward IV says that this grant is going to help the city.
That motion to hire two firefighters through the S.A.F.E.R Grant passed unanimously at the meeting.
A motion that was tabled at the meeting was a motion to proceed with advertising for the Working Foreman position in the Water Collection Department.
Alderman Rob Heberling of Ward II explained why this motion was tabled at the meeting.
That motion was tabled unanimously at the meeting.
There were three motions passed that would increase salary of city employees at the meeting: one proposed a 2.04% salary increase to police, another approved a 2% salary increase for non-bargaining personnel that would start on January 1st of 2013 and the final motion to increase salaries was to increase the Human Resource Manager’s salary to a minimum of $41,526.34 and to make it retroactive to the first pay period in November of 2012.
Heberling says that these pay increases were all budgeted by the council.
All of those motions passed unanimously at the meeting.
Other motions that passed at the meeting included making the annual tax levy for corporate purposes for the fiscal year commencing on May 1, 2012 and ending on April 30, 2013 for the City of Taylorville, A motion to approve promoting Mindy Durbin to the Secretary III position in the Water Collection Department and a motion to approve payment of bills in the amount of $133,348.11. All those motions passed unanimously at the meeting.
The next city council meeting is scheduled for January 7th of 2013.
