After considerable discussion Monday night, the Greater Taylorville Chamber of Commerce Chillifest Committee made some decisions regarding whether or not beer might be served at the October event.
The committee voted unanimously, that since Bailey's Pub, a local bar on the north side of the square, had approached the Chamber initially wanting to work with the Chamber on the possibility of serving beer at the event, then it should be Bailey's responsibility to work with the City of Taylorville to obtain permission to serve beer.
The Chillifest committee further decided that if Bailey's gets permission from the City to serve beer using Bailey's liquor license, that the bar can then apply to the Chamber for a beer vendor permit for the 2 days of Chillifest. Committee members felt this would absolve the Chamber from the responsibility of obtaining permission from the City to serve beer, as well as policing the area where it would be served. Committee members added those responsibilities, under the proposal that passed the committee unanimously Monday night, would be taken on by Bailey's Pub.
Chillifest Committee co-chair Greg Hornbuckle told Regional Radio News that the ideas voted on Monday night, will be further discussed by all those involved.
Hornbuckle also announced during Monday night's meeting, that a new bag tournament is in the works for Chillifest.
And, Hornbuckle also announced that 2 new items introduced by Pepsi, will be among items sold at this year's Greater Taylorville Chamber of Commerce Chillifest.
Food and craft vendor forms, as well as the Little Miss and Mister Chilli Pepper pageant forms, and the Cutest Baby Contest form, can all be found on the Chillifest web site, which is “chillifest (with 2-L's)-dot-info”, or can be obtained at the Taylorville Chamber office on the south side of the square.
