Area Arrests And Accidents 1/18/23

Christian County Sheriff’s Office reported the following to Regional Radio News;

 

1-17-23 Chad Tungate, age 40, of Lincoln was arrested by Logan County on a Christian county FTA warrant for theft.

 

1-17-23 Eric, Black, age 33 of Springfield was arrested by Sangamon County on a Christian County FTA warrant for violating an Order of Protection.

 

Crashes

 

12-22-22 Jennifer Lewis was involved in a traffic crash. Lewis turned onto Route 48 from 965 East Road and lost control and ran off the roadway. Lewis hit the end of a guardrail causing damage to the vehicle and the guardrail. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

 

12-30-22 Tyson Kime was backing out of the driveway traveling south at 9 W Magnolia Ave, Pana, IL 62557, crossing over the roadway. Kime backed into a parked car across the roadway on the south side of the road. No injuries. No tow.

 

1-10-23 Nathan Broaddus was traveling Southwest on IL Route 48 when a deer ran in the roadway. Broaddus made contact with the deer on the driver side rear bumper. No injuries. No tow.

 

1-10-23 Zachary Armour was traveling east southeast through the curve on 2050 North Road at about 400 East when he lost control on the slick iced road. Armour went off the south side of the roadway and into the ditch. Armour overturned one complete time and came to rest with the driver side door on the ground. No injuries. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

 

1-10-23 Ashley Woods was traveling southbound on 930 East Road from IL Route 104 when a deer ran across the road striking the driver’s side of her vehicle. No injuries. No tow.

 

1-11-23 Mary Wolf was traveling south on Route 51. Around 75 North Wolf began to have a medical issue. Wolf ran off the road on the right side and drove in the ditch hitting a driveway culvert. This spun the car and caused it to stop. No injuries. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

 

1-12-23 Parker Thomason was traveling east on 2050 North Road when a deer entered the roadway and made contact with the driver’s side door. No injuries. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

 

1-13-23 Alexander Jackson was traveling northbound on Illinois Route 48 and was approximately 2/10 of a mile north of Township Road 1550 N. Jackson lost control on the ice covered roadway, exited the roadway to the left, sliding across a private gravel lane, and then striking the west ditch. The impact with the ditch embankment caused Jackson to overturn on the passenger side. After sliding a short distance in the grass Jackson came to rest facing northeast. No injuries. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

 

1-15-23 Zoe Hoover was traveling west on Route 104 in South Fork township when he struck a deer in the roadway. No injuries. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

 

1-16-23 Melvin Green and Sherry Butkauskas were involved in a traffic crash in Pana township. Green was traveling north on 2500 East Road. Butkauskas was traveling west on 100 North Road. Both units approached the intersection at the same time. Green failed to stop at the posted stop sign. Green was taken to the hospital by ambulance and his vehicle was towed from the scene.

 

Taylorville Police reported the following to Regional Radio News;

 

1/13/23

 

Retta A. Loreth, age 61, of Taylorville was arrested for DUI.

 

Robert D. Burke, age 41, of Taylorville was arrested for an IDOC Warrant.

 

Georgia E. Ward, age 48, of Taylorville was arrested on a Warrant.

 

1/14/23

 

Megan M. Whitaker, age 37, of Taylorville was arrested for Driving While License Suspended and Suspended Registration.

 

Taylorville Police responded to the following car accidents.

 

Aaron E. Kerwood of Taylorville was traveling east in the 800 block of West Vandeveer Street on January 4th when they improperly crossed into the oncoming traffic lane.  Kerwood struck a parked vehicle.  The vehicle was pushed by the initial impact into another vehicle which was parallel parked directly behind it.  Kerwood continued to drive east from the scene immediately after striking one of the parked vehicles.  The crash was reported after the fact. Kerwood’s vehicle was later located with matching damage a few blocks away and he was given a citation for improper lane usage and leaving the scene of a crash with vehicle damage. 

 

Douglas A. Brachear of Taylorville was driving northwest on Route 29 on January 13th when a group of deer ran across the highway.  Brachear struck a deer causing significant front end damage.  No injuries were reported. 

 

On January 14th, A minor from Owaneco was traveling southwest on Spresser Street when for unknown reasons, they crossed both lanes of traffic and continued off the road striking a ditch. The impact caused the vehicle to roll over and land on its top.  The minor and their passenger were transported by ambulance to St. John’s Hospital with suspected serious injuries.  The vehicle was towed from the scene.
