In the midst of the coronavirus outbreak, many hospitals are seeing a shortage of equipment they need to protect themselves from getting the virus and spreading it even further. All hospitals in Illinois are still looking for personal protective equipment or PPE, and while some hospitals are in better shape than others, the need is still there regardless. Central Illinois is no different as Pana Community Hospital continues to request homemade masks and PPE donations. Greg Hager, Nurse Manager of Outpatient Services, says with the CDC requesting everyone to wear homemade masks now the need for masks is very important.
If you do have equipment that you are willing to donate, Hager says there are plenty of different ways to get that equipment to the people that need it.
People have been very supportive so far, and Hager says that the community already has been giving supplies.
The hospital is always looking for N-95 respirators, homemade masks, goggles, and gloves among other things. For more information or if you have questions, please call 562-6379.
