The number of confirmed cases in Illinois with the coronavirus is up to 93 people in 13 counties. These counties are scattered all over Illinois and include Champaign, Clinton, Sangamon, Winnebago and Whiteside Counties. Health Department Director, Dr. Ngozi Ezike says that the number is expected to rise dramatically in the next week and that people need to assume it’s already in their communities.

Dr. Ezike stressed that while most cases are mild, the transmission of it can really affect older people or people with chronic conditions. 

Dr. Ezike says that at the end of the day, it’s just important to stay home unless you absolutely need to go out.

Dr. Ezike spoke at the daily press conference held by Governor J.B. Pritzker to address the latest updates with the COVID-19 or coronavirus.
