Taylorville City Council To Discuss 204 East Main Cross, Other Issues

The Taylorville City Council will meet on Monday evening at the Municipal Building at 7PM. Taking the center stage of conversations will be the property that had the roof collapse at 204 East Main Cross and how to handle it. Under ordinance discussion will be some zoning classification, along with amending certain ordinances dealing with the Taylorville City Code. 

 

Motions that will be discussed include advertising for a heavy equipment operator at the cemetery. The city will also look to approve the purchase of a 2020 Dodge Durango for the Taylorville Fire Department. The city will also discuss whether or not to be included in a class-action lawsuit against the liquid aluminum Sulfate Antitrust Litigation. 

 

Under personnel reports, a motion will be discussed to advertise an Office Level 1 position in the city clerk’s office along with hiring 18 summer/seasonal help for HBO, Street/Sewer, Cemetery, water, and lake departments. The city also wants to advertise for another full-time dispatcher position to bring the number to 5.

 

In Emergency Services, a motion will be recommended for allowing Fire Chief Matt Aderman to apply for an AFG Grant.

 

Under Lake and Airport, the city will be discussing lengths of the boat docks, amending the lake lot city code concerning campers, and forward the proposed FY 2020/2021 Lake Budget to the Finance Committee.

 

Under the Water and Environmental Committee, there will be a motion to discuss payment for the water treatment plant. The city is also looking at installing a 6 inch main outside of city limits to allow the residents in the Lakewood Subdivision to connect to city water. 

 

There will also be city attorney and Mayoral updates from Bruce Barry as well.
