IDOT Approves Permit for Turn Lane for Proposed Taylorville Industrial Park

Regional Radio News has learned that the Illinois Department of Transportation has approved the Intersection Design Study for an entrance from Illinois Route 29, to the proposed new Taylorville Industrial Park on the city’s northwest side.

The approval came within the last few weeks, and the permit will now be issued by the state to allow construction of the entrance.

The approval is one of many pieces of approvals and permits needed, to begin construction.  The Taylorville Development Association, with assistance from the City of Taylorville and technical assistance from Christian County Economic Development Corporation, raised some 537-thousand dollars locally, and then applied thru the Economic Development Administration’s Chicago office, for a 537-thousand dollar matching grant.  That matching grant was approved over a year ago, to build streets, curb, gutter, and other infrastructure for the new Taylorville Industrial Park.

T-D-A officials are hopeful that they can break ground on the project late this year, with a completion date of next summer.
