Congressman Davis Gives Update on Farm Bill

Since the beginning of September there has been a Conference Committee in Washington DC trying to work on the Farm Bill to come up with something both sides can agree on.

Congressman Rodney Davis represents the 13th District of Illinois in Washington. He says it has been difficult to find common ground between the two parties but he is trying to stay optimistic.

Davis wants more bipartisanship in this new farm bill and come up with something that works for both sides. Davis says right now there is a hold up in terms of food stamps and the Democrats do not want to invest in education and training.

The Conference Committee has till the end of the month to settle on a new Farm Bill, if they can’t the current Farm Bill will be extended. Davis says this could still work for current farmers but it impacts new ideas and programs.

Davis appeared as a guest on the Newstalk WTIM morning show.
